  1. mmm...that makes my 40000 ft in one minute impressive then. Better repeat that experiment when I get home to check my figures. I might have had a touch of Lightningitis extremisafterburnus Thanks Fubar
  2. I actually timed myself in Russo's F6 with a full fuel load and two firestreaks from standing start to 40000 ft.( sad I know )..one minute and one second ! Not bad at all ! The published figures were for the real deal are 50000 ft per min max climb I believe.
  3. Love the 3 Sqn markings ! I think it's great that some of our squadrons are going back to using the old WW2 codes. I wish they all would, kind of pays a tribute doesn't it. The Typhoon you have there is hot on my xmas pressie list Craig !
  4. Always nice to see a man in uniform I'm not military so I have none... Good photo's though guys, well done to you all. Keep up the good work.
  5. mmm...you could try hopping onto the next relativistic starship that comes along. Get up to .9c and time will pass pretty slowly for you...however, there might not be anyone still around on this board by the time you get back. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  6. Wow...TSR2 ! Way ahead of it's time...the best strike aircraft the RAF never had. Anyone got a time machine handy and I'll go back and teach that Labour Govt of the time a lesson they won't forget in a hurry...
  7. I always taxi back up to the hangars (or an area I deem a de-arming zone) after a completing a mission. Then I just wish I could turn the engine off and sit back with a sigh of relief as another mission is done and more combat hours in my logbook. I realise it's most likely hard-coded but starting up and shutting down the engines (even if it was only one button) would please me no end. It's the only major complaint I have with the Thirdwire sims. Anyone else have similar thoughts ?
  8. Why does it seem to go a bit quiet when the Y-word is used here at CA ? Is there a bit of "history" going on...oooh I do love a scandal!
  9. Cheers Tank, I missed that mod ! Will d\l it now.
  10. What I find most annoying is hearing all the SAM calls from other flights, often many miles away. Sick of hitting R and finding that threat isn't such a threat after all, especially when it's just distracted you from a big fat juicy target.
  11. Shame on you Hals...it's never grim when I'm around! This eel thingy has got me completely baffled...and I just hate not knowing!
  12. Yep...those American's sure do have a thing about putting numerals behind names, aircraft, people... To be fair though, I don't think anyone thinks of an A7, say as a Corsair II, etc. Must just be for official purposes.
  13. What's the fixation with eels on this board ? Do you mean real eels, or torpedoes, or what? Hmmm...also, if it's real eels are these freshwater, saltwater or blind eels?
  14. Sorry Corktip...did not mean to offend I was refering to the beaurocratic issues involved, not the wonderful city and people of Brussells. Besides, you Belgies make the world's best chocolate !
  15. That sure is one beautiful aircraft you've done there Craig... ...one minor gripe though, the name. Can we please call it the Typhoon on release, "Eurofighter" is soooo Brussells ! :yu: Seriously though, superb work.
  16. Ahh...Phantom Schmantom ! When you've seen one you've seen em all...you boyz sure got way too much time on your hands.
  17. I was browsing IMDB for aviation related films and I came across a French series from the 1960's called the Aeronauts (Les Chevaliers du ciel). Seemed quite interesting. Has anyone seen any of it, from what I can gather it featured Mirages.
  18. Tank03, this also helped my performance too. Although it's still down to processor power in the end...I tend to stay away from Hanoi and other SAM hotspots and the game runs as smooth as...a smooth thing !
  19. I do it this way, a vanilla copy of SFP Gold, WoV & WoE on my HD. I've also copied these installs to DVD as a back-up. I have a WoV YAP install, a WoE Nato Fighters install and a SF Korea install. Keeps me out of trouble...
  20. Buccaneer S2.B XV168 is the gate guardian at BAE Brough just up the road from where I live. I often pass "168" and wish I'd seen her in her heyday. If a Bucc' appears for WoE I hope someone can do an XV168 skin and then I'll finally get my chance to fly her...so to speak. Apart from the good old Skyraider the Buccaneer is probably my favourite plane as I regard it as a local bird, a Yorkshire aircraft. The Hawk too, is Yorkshire born & bred.
  21. Corsair's are a bit like my Dad, short and fat, not as fast as they'd like to be but totally dependable and capable of flattening most targets!...
  22. Viggen is right...the early Sparrow's were pretty poor. Less than a fifty-fifty chance of a kill I believe due to unreliability...though I stand to be corrected.
  23. I too would like these but it seems to be a bit of a hushed-up secret apparently... until they appear what I did after reading some of the topics on this site was to set ground objects to "high" then edit the VietnamSEA data.ini and included the trees into certain tiles. Can't remember offhand which ones but it took ages ! Still it doesn't look bad (not as good as those Dueces screenshots) plenty of trees low down and no FPS impact. I'd post a screenie but I don't know how... Better than nowt !
  24. I'd be perfectly happy with smaller planning map icons...you know...that don't take over half the bleedin' map !
