Practicing carrier landings
warthog64 replied to bras's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Remember the deck is moving slightly to the right! -
It's too bad the P-47 never gets the credit it deserves, no other plane in WWII comes close to the Jug's war ecord. I'm a P-47 Fanatic and the only other fanatics I've met in life are former P-47 pilots themselves, yet even 4 year olds love the P-51 (Spam Can). The P-47 truly was the most valuable tactical asset available to the Allies! It excelled in both air to air and air to ground combat. Without it VE day may not have ever happened. The P-47 also played a major role in the PTO as well, yet no one seems to know this.

This aircraft and skins are awesome! I love the JUG As Wrench said, will there ever be a new and updated P-47D? I know I have asked this question many times before but figured it couldn't hurt to ask again. A new P-47D is needed as all other WWII types have newer or completely new versions for the SF2 series, it seems no one cares about the P-47D and a new version will never be made. Although the P-47D by Wolf is GREAT and by far my favorite flyable aircraft, it is now very old compared to everything else associated with SF2. So will there ever be a new D version, or should I just shut up about it? Thanks!

GPS Weapons issue
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks for the link, however is there some sort of edit I can do to revert the GPS weapons settings to pre-june2012 patch? Just wondering because I usually use JDAM with heavy bombers and a diving attack is not an easy thing to do in an aircraft that large and bulky? Thanks -
GPS Weapons issue
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks EricJ I'll take a look at that. Ravenclaw, I am using the jul2012 patch so this might be the problem. Thanks for the info. -
I've recently noticed that when using a JDAM against a target while in level flight, the bomb always continues in a shallow sloping flightpath and overshoots the target by at least a mile. I just recently noticed this because I have not used JDAM often. I have tried releasing the weapons at several different ranges and altitudes, but with no difference. I can release the bomb in a dive toward a target at close range and it will guide, but in a B-1B or B-52 this is not an ideal employment method. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how to fix it.

Eurofighter just as good as F-22 if not better !

Stealth has been a major game changer! If you're referring to a conflict such as the US war in Afghanistan, or the Conflict in the Balkans in the 1990's then yes stealth was not a major factor because the defending sides could not wage a real "strategic" or "high tech" Air or Electronics war in return. In a situation like these wars an F-16, A-10 or Harrier is good enough to wage a limited air war. The Serbians did have SA-2's and SA-6's, ZSU-23's, etc. but the capability of these weapons, and their numbers were very poor. Sure the US, France, and the UK lost several aircraft to Serbian fire over the coures of 5 years but this was in no way a losing attrition rate. In the 1991 Gulf War, and to a lesser extent the 2003 invasion of Iraq, stealth played a huge role in the outcome of both conflicts, the F-117 was able to destroy Iraq's ability to communicate, and destroyed the very centrally controlled Iraqi air defences in the opening hours of the war. Yes many equipment and radars remained operating, but the capability of Saddam to wage an effective defense was gone! Stealth was a huge morale dropper as well, and the Iraqi military already had very low morale in 1991! In 2003 the Iraqi air defences were still capable, but no where near the level that they were in 1991. Obviously once the Strategic air campaign was over in 2003, stealth did not matter as it shouldn't anyways in a war against insugents but to achieve the strategic victory over Iraq Stealth was once again was a deciding factor. There has not been an aerial conflict with these circumstances in which stealth has been involved with since 1991, and the Stealth capabilities of the F-22 far exceed the F-117 and B-2. There are alot of factors to consider when determining what technologies and tactics will achieve victory. When it comes to a "real" war with both sides possesing advanced and capable equipment stealth will always make a difference. -

This is old news that anyone familiar with air to air combat could have predicted anyways. The F-22 would never enter close in combat unless malfuntions forced the pilot to do so. The long range, capabilities of the raptor have yet to be equalled or defeated. The F-22 is simply the most capable and lethal fighter today. The F-22 is also incredibley agile, the thrust vectoring allows it swap ends on literally one molecule of air. The Typhoon is also an incredibley agile and capable machine and in close in combat is capable of defeating any adversary if flown well. Even though the Typhoon lacks thrust vectoring, and the F-22 is not the best WVR platform despite its agility, when it comes to close in "dogfighting" it is the pilot that makes the difference and not the plane. -
Funny, I had this exact same sequence of events happen to me three years ago.

I will reccomend a Toshiba laptop over anything else. I have owned Toshiba, Dell, and HP laptops and I have found Toshiba to always be the most efficient and reliable notebook computers. My current Laptop is a Toshiba A665-S6067, it works great and is very fast but it's 2 years old now and there are far better models now available. Anyway make your choice based on your own preferences, and go play with several brands before buying. Hope this helped
