North American Shark FGA.2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-100D to give a fictional North American Shark FGA.2 (I guess the RAF didn't fancy the 'Super Sabre' name) with markings for;

No.54 Squadron in standard RAF Camo with three-colour national markings.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the SharkFGA2 folder into your main Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the SharkFGA2 folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the two 'AS' missiles into your Weapons folder.
    That's it!

  3. [Fictional] North American F-100G Super Sabre

North American F-100G for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-100D to create a fictional F-100G for extended service with ANG units into the 1980's. Two units are included;
The 125th TFS of the Oklahoma ANG.
The 131st TFS of the Massachusetts ANG.
Both units are dressed in a 'Euro One' style scheme on the upper surfaces only and with toned down national markings, codes and serials using late model F-100D serials. An additional stock T.O. 1-1-4 Camo skin for the 125th TFS is included in case they get deployed to Dhimar...

    BACKSTORY
President James Earl 'Jimmy' Carter started his presidency in January 1977 with a detailed review of the US military budget and his most high-profile decision was the cancellation of the Rockwell B-1A bomber programme in June 1977. But many smaller programmes were cut or cancelled too along with the postponement of the re-equipping of TAC and ANG units with new aircraft types. F-16A and A-10A production was slowed down and many TAC and ANG units were instructed to hold on to their F-100's and F-105's for an indefinate period. In a genuine (but actually insulting)
compensatory gesture Rockwell were given a $45million contract to upgrade 90 F-100D's for continued service with the ANG with the aircraft emerging from their Columbus, Ohio plant as F-100G's with refurbished engines, partially re-skinned wings and minor avionics upgrades.

The first unit to receive F-100G's was the 131st Tactical Fighter Squadron based at Barnes Municipal Airport in Westfield, Massachusetts who had been scheduled to convert from the F-100D to A-10A's but instead received F-100G's which served until 1986.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-100G folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-100G folder into your main Decals folder.
    That's it!

  4. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4EZ Phantom

McDonnell Douglas F-4EZ Phantom for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-4E_78 to create a fictional South African Air Force F-4EZ Phantom in service with No.2 Squadron in the following schemes and timeframes;
    1. 1979-1981 A 'Mirage F.1CZ' style scheme with tricolour fin and 'Springbok' national markings.
    2. 1982-2002 As above but with the later style of national markings.
    3. 2003-2012 Final Grey scheme with toned-down national markings.
It goes without saying that you must have the F-4E_78 LOD's in your install and you'll also need the Mirage 3CZ DLC for the V3B Kukri and serial number decals although there are some easy workarounds if you don't.
The idea for this 'what if' came from Stratos who created the 'Mirage F.1CZ' style skin whilst I did the tank skins, decals and packaging so it's an Anglo-Spanish joint venture and we hope that you enjoy it!

    BACKSTORY
During the mid-1970's the South African Government made tentative enquiries regarding purchasing the McDonnell Douglas Phantom for the South African Air Force (SAAF) with no success but in February 1977 the incoming Democrat President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, and the South African State President Nicolaas Diederichs agreed to the purchase of 30 F-4EZ's for delivery in 1979 and these were among the very last St. Louis-built Phantoms produced.
Entering service with No.2 Squadron 'The Flying Cheetahs' of the SAAF the F-4EZ's initially operated from Hoedspruit AFB before moving to Louis Trichardt AFB in early 1993. With SAAF Impalas, Buccaneers and Mirage F.1CZ's operating in the ground-attack role the Phantoms saw limited action in the Border War but at least four Angolan MiG-21's and two Mi-17 helicopters were shot down by No.2 Squadron. The surviving F-4EZ's were finally retired in 2019 when they replaced by Eurofighter Typhoons.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4EZ folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4EZ folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the V3B4 folder into your main Weapons folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
Thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Muchas gracias to Stratos for the superb SAAF 'Mirage F.1CZ' style skin created with a little bit of help from Ludo on SAAF colours and Sundowner's legendary F-4E templates - thanks guys!

  5. [Fictional] Mikoyan MiG-21bis Parani Air Force

Mikoyan MiG-21bis 'Paran' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire MiG-21bis to create a fictional export version in service with the Parani Air Force during 1978-2002. The skin is by Paulopanz and I've added a matching drop tank and a fictional Parani missile named 'Zulfiqar' (basically a license-built version of the R.550 Matra Magic) with a matching skin. It goes without saying that you must have the stock MiG-21bis in your install but the skin could be renamed to fit most other stock MiG-21's.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the MiG-21bisP folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the MiG-21bisP folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_PARAN folder into you main Pilots folder.
    4. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop the SOVIET_DRY and SOVIET_WET files into your main Sounds folder.
    5. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the TANK_MiG21BISP and ZULFIQAR folders into your main Weapons folder.
    That's it!

  6. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom 'VNAF'

McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom 'VNAF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-4C to create a fictional Phantom in service with the Vietnamese Air Force in the 1973 to 1975 timeline.

    BACKSTORY

The end of the Linebacker campaign on October 23rd, 1972 coincided with the US Government's 'Project Enhance Plus' - essentially the building up of the Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF) to an adequate level to sustain effective operations after any final ceasefire and, more importantly for domestic politics, to continue the fight after the complete withdrawl of US forces. In a rush effort, 288 aircraft were transferred to the VNAF including 116 F-5's Freedom Fighters, 90 A-37's Dragonflys and 28 A-1 Skyraiders. Not content with that, South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu specifically asked for F-4 Phantoms explaining that he felt that the VNAF was being issued with aircraft that were short on range and unable to carry the fight to the North.

Initially refused, US President Nixon later added an amendment to 'Project Enhance Plus' by allowing the transfer of 36 F-4C Phantoms from USAF stocks. The war-weary F-4C's began to arrive in early 1973 to equip two squadrons of the VNAF based at Tan Son Nhut airbase seeing sporadic action during the uneasy truce and scattered skirmishes of 1973 and 1974. However, when NVA forces burst through the crumbing South Vietnamese defences during April 1975 they quickly captured Bien Hoa airbase to the north of Saigon and immediately swung west to capture Tan Son Nhut airbase catching most the surviving 27 F-4C's of the VNAF on the ground. The Phantoms were inspected and overhauled by Chinese technicians before entering service with the 927th Fighter Regiment of the Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF) who operated the type until 1982 when they were grounded by a chronic spares shortage.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4C_VNAF folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4C_VNAF folder into your main Decals folder.

    3. (Optional) From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_VNAF1 and PILOT_VNAF2 folders into your main Pilots folder.

  7. [Fictional] General Dynamics F-111A 'Early TAC'

General Dynamics F-111A 'Early TAC' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the superb F-111A by FastCargo to represent a fictional 'earlier timeline' version of the F-111A entering service in 1965 with service years restricted to 1965 to 1967 inclusive.

    BACKSTORY
Perhaps the three technical breakthroughs that came together to make the F-111A (the swing-wing, the afterburning turbofan and solid-state devices) came together just that little bit earlier leading to the corresponding earlier drafting of SOR-183 and the resultant TFX competition thus predating McNamara and the distraction of 'commonality' and the Naval F-111B.

    INSTRUCTIONS
Firstly, please make sure you've got the F-111 SuperVarkPack for the tanks and weapons bay mounted gun. Got it? Good!
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-111A_TAC folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-111A_TAC folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop the TF30_DRY AND TF30_WET files into your Sounds folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, big thanks to Third Wire for the continuous improvement of a great little game/sim.
Massive thanks to FastCargo for the full and complete F-111 family. The F-111 Super Vark Pack by FastCargo gives comprehensive thanks to everyone who has played a part and his credits include thanks to Norman Knight for the F-111 pit.

  8. Fairchild A-14A Thunderfire (USAF AMX)

Fairchild A-14A 'AMX' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of Rafaels' AMX 2.0 to represent a fictional USAF version. I'm releasing this 'as is' (in response to a request) but it could do with a host of further refinements and I've quickly put the Third Wire A-7E_74 pit in there to get you up and running although I think there is a later AMX in the downloads section that might have a better cockpit.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the A-14A folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the A-14A folder into your Decals folder.

  9. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas A-4K Skyhawk 'BAF'

McDonnell Douglas A-4K Skyhawk 'BAF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire DLC A-4K to give a fictional Belgian A-4K with markings for No.1, No.2 and No.42 squadrons of the Belgian Air Force with service years ranging from 1970 to 1991. If you haven't actually got the A-4K DLC you'll quickly be able to hack the contents to suit whatever you've got available to you. Please note that for simplicity (i.e. laziness) I've used the stock Mirage 5BA serial numbers.

    BACKSTORY

In early February 1968 the outgoing Belgian Paul Van den Boeynants announced that the Dassault Mirage 5 was to be purchased as the desperately needed Thunderstreak replacement for the Belgian Air Force. However, within days, massive student unrest and questions of discrimination against the ethnic Flemish population led to the bringing down of the Van den Boeynants government and a new incoming government led by Gaston Eyskens. The new government immediately cancelled the order for the Mirage 5BA and instead purchased the American A-4K Skyhawk in a reduced purchase of 48 A-4K single-seaters and 12 TA-4K two-seat trainers.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the A-4K_BAF folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the A-4K_BAF folder into your main Decals folder.

    3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_BAF folder into your main Pilots folder.

  10. [Fictional] PZL-60 (Polish Gloster Meteor F.8)

PZL-60 / Gloster Meteor F.8 'Sily Powietrzne' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

    Requires Expansion Pack 1

    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Meteor F.8 to give a fictional PZL-60 in service with the Polish Air Force with markings for;

No.302 Squadron - In a silver or bare metal finish.

No.317 Squadron - In an earthy camo scheme.

No.318 Squadron - In a Photo-Recon scheme (this scheme is for the camera equipped PZL-60R).

If you wanted all three squadrons in silver it would be easy to swap things around and a 'patch' PSD is included to help you make the changes or to help you introduce your own favourite esquadron.

    BACKSTORY

The stunning success of Operation Market Garden and the subsequent push through Holland and across the North German Plain during the Autumn of 1944 shook the German Military High Command to it's core and eventually led to the assassination of Adolf Hitler on November 10th, 1944 when his Ju-52 transport aircraft was shot down by unknown rogue Luftwaffe pilots as the part of the Fighter Pilots Conspiracy.

The new German Military High Command concluded that it would be in the best interests of the country to throw everything into the defence of the Eastern Front and allow Allied forces in the West to advance without opposition, although the logistical chain made this advance slower than expected. On the Eastern Front there was an almost immediate slowdown in the rate of the Soviet advance and soon Soviet forces inside Poland were held at the Bialystok-Rzeszow line. By January 1944 Allied forces in the West were reaching the borders of Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland hampered only by roads clogged by evacuees and surrendering German troops but by the middle of January 1945 General Patton's Third US Army had punched through to liberate Warsaw before swinging north to meet up with Montgomery's 21st Army Group at Gdansk. By February 8th it was all over and the formal German surrender was signed at Lublin in Eastern Poland by Grand Admiral Karl Donitz and General Walter Bedell Smith and witnessed by Russian General Ivan Susloparov and French General Francois Sevez.

The rescheduled Yalta Conference held on March 1st, 1945 saw Stalin demanding a "Soviet sphere of political influence" in Eastern and Central Europe in return for Soviet support in the Pacific War against Japan by invading Japan through Manchuria. However a last minute briefing made to President Roosevelt by Major General Kenneth Nichols on the progress on the Manhattan Project led to President Roosevelt's decision not to rely on Soviet support in the Pacific and to wholeheartedly support Winston Churchill's demand for free elections and democratic governments in Eastern and Central Europe and specifically in Poland. Churchill reminded all present that in September 1939 Britain and France had gone to war with Germany in support of Poland and nothing other than a free and democratic Poland would suffice. Roosevelt knew that Soviet spies at Los Alamos were aware of the power of the atomic bombs and also how close to operational status and used this knowledge that Stalin also knew to stiffen his resolve. In the horsetrading that followed the Western Allies essentially got what they wanted with regard to Poland with the new border essentially following the 1940 version of the Curzon Line but the the rest of Central and Eastern were handed over to the Soviet sphere of political influence.

The Allied withdrawl from Poland followed during the Spring and Summer of 1945 and culminated in the declaration of "The Third Polish Republic" on November 11th, 1945 a date chosen to coincide with the existing National Independence Day. Also on this day, and wisely for a country now surrounded by Communist states and within the Soviet sphere of influence, the new Polish Government declared its neutrality as an Act of Parliament as part of the Constitution of Poland. Led by Stanislaw Mikolajczyk the new Republic of Poland had a difficult birth but the Polish people reconstructed their battered country with such vigour that by 1948 they had recovered their economy and infrastructure to pre-WW2 levels and continued this economic miracle into the 1950's and beyond.

During this tumultuous time the new Polish Air Force had a similarly difficult birth commencing with the dove-tailing of the Polish elements of the Royal Air Force (active since 1940) with the Polish People's Air Force (created in 1943 in defence of the Soviet Union). Some RAF Spitfire IX's and USAAF P-51D's were left behind at airfields in the West of the country to reform No.302 Squadron at Swidwin and a handful of elderly Yak-1 and damaged Yak-9 fighters were scraped together in the East of the country to reform the 1st Fighter Regiment at Warsaw later renamed No.303 Squadron. During the Spring of 1946 ex-RAF Tempest V's replaced the Spitfires and Mustangs of No.302 Squadron but No.303 Squadron had to wait until 1948 to re-equip with the unpopular Avia S-199 supplied by Czechoslovakia. During 1950 both squadrons began to receive Gloster Meteor F.8's from a cancelled Egyptian order following the UN arms embargo and No.302 Squadron operated the type until 1961 when they were replaced by Dassault Super Mystères. A production licence was granted to PZL (Panstwowe Zaklady Lotnicze - the State Aviation Works) to manufacture the Gloster Meteor F.8 and a total of 96 aircraft were manufactured between 1952 and 1956.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the PZL-60 folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the PZL-60 folder into your main Decals folder.

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-14A_77 to give a fictional Tomcat F-14A 'COAN' as it might have appeared in service with the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina and includes fictional markings for the famous 2nd Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Caza y Ataque (2nd Fighter/Attack Squadron).

You must have Strike Fighters:North Atlantic for the Third Wire F-14A Tomcat and for the optional carrier.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Decals folder.

    * You'll really need to add 'ArgentineNavy' to the limited nations section of the ICELANDNA_NATIONS data.ini (which you'll need to extract). Doing this yourself will allow you to align the Argentine Navy to a 'colour' of your choice.

  13. [Fictional] English Electric Canberra B.Mk.53 'IDF'

English Electric Canberra B.Mk.53 'IDF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Canberra B.Mk.6 to create a fictional export version in service with the Israeli Air Force during the 1956-1973 timeline.

The Canberra had an unusual offset cockpit and large frameless canopy and Kesselbrut's cockpit captures this perfectly. If you use the cockpit toggle function you'll effectively see the bomb aimer's point of view and, with a bomb selected, you'll see the IDF's top secret bombsight! You are recommended to try bombing from medium-high altitude (in a shallow descent) using this very accurate bombsight but don't forget to open the bomb bay doors!

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Canberra53 folder into your Aircraft folder.

    CREDITS

Thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim (I wish it was still being further developed).

Special thanks to Kesselbrut for the Canberra cockpit to which I've added a new bombsight tga.

And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  14. Xian FBC-1M 'Flying Leopard'

    Xian FBC-1M for SF1
This is a simple mod of the excellent JH-7A/FBC-1 released by Insky many years ago to give a fictional export version in service with the Mongolian Air Force. This is released 'as is' and really needs a good Chinese weapons pack, something I don't have in my SF1 installs or simply download the JH-7A.

    BACKSTORY

Under Soviet pressure at the end of World War Two, the Republic of China was obliged to formally accept Mongolian independence. However, following the Communists victory in the Chinese Civil War, the People's Republic of China warmly recognised Mongolia's independent status and established diplomatic relations with Mongolia during 1949. Although Mongolia aligned itself with the Soviet Union during the Cold War both nations patiently came to agreement on border disputes and by 1986 they had begun to establish trade agreements that paved the way for the 1988 treaty on border control and the 1994 treaty of friendship.
By 2002, China had become Mongolia's biggest trade partner and their largest source of foreign investment with China allowing the use of its Tianjin port to give Mongolia access to trade within the Asia Pacific region and, in return, giving China access to Mongolia's natural resources. In a move designed to bolster regional security China exported 20 Xian FBC-1 Flying Leopard fighter-bombers (the export version of the JH-7A) which entered service with the Mongolian Air Force in 2008.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Drop the FBC-1M folder into your Aircraft folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
Thanks to TK for a great little game/sim.
Thanks to Erwin_Hans for bringing the JH-7A to us back in 2009.

  15. Avro Canada CF-103 Archer

Avro Canada CF-103 Arrow for Strike Fighters 1
    This is a simple mod of the excellent Shenyang F-8IIM 'FinBack-B' brought to us by Erwin_Hans back in 2008 to make a fictional Canadian cold-war interceptor with markings for the following RCAF squadrons;
No.409 Squadron (Blue & Yellow Rudder Stripes)
No.410 Squadron (Red & White Rudder Stripes)
No.414 Squadron (Black & Red Rudder Stripes)
No.416 Squadron (Black & Yellow Rudder Stripes)
No.425 Squadron (Black & Silver Rudder Stripes)

N.B. 1960's RCAF markings are a bit of a challenge as they changed so often so I've just gone for a mid-1960's snapshot!

    BACKSTORY
Serving with no less that nine front-line RCAF squadrons at its peak in the mid-1950's, the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck provided all-weather defense against Soviet intruders and the four Canuck squadrons based in Europe from 1956 to1962 were, for some time, the only NATO fighters capable of operating in zero visibility and poor weather conditions. However, recognising the fact that the Soviet Union was working on newer jet-powered bombers the RCAF began looking for a missile-armed replacement for the CF-100 even before it had entered service and in January 1953 the RCAF's All-Weather Interceptor Requirements Team submitted a report to the Canadian Government outlining their requirements.
    In response, Avro Canada came up with three distinct proposals;
    1. A subsonic CF-100 development with a thinner swept wing and tail surfaces and with external missile stores (CF-100S).
    2. A single-seat supersonic delta-winged aircraft with twin engines and external missile stores (CF-103).
    3. A large two-seat supersonic delta-winged aircraft with twin engines and an internal missile bay (CF-105).

After a full year of reviewing Avro Canada's proposals the RCAF announced in February 1954 that they considered that the CF-103 represented the optimum balance between cost, efficacy and in-service date and requested that Avro Canada should be awarded a production contract for 200 CF-103's. To keep costs down the RCAF stipulated the use of two key 'off the shelf' items; the Hughes MA-1 fire control system (from the Convair F-102A) and the Rolls-Royce Avon afterburning turbojet (from the English Electric Lightning). Whilst both items were actually still under development themselves, they were considered to be a safer choice than any home-grown paper project and likely to reach maturity for the projected in-service date of 1960. The only area of risk was the decision to arm the CF-103 with the radical British ADEN 230 twin-barreled cannon in a streamlined semi-conformal installation carrying the cannon and with a 500 round ammunition drum stored immediately above and inside the fuselage.
The CF-103 used the then fashionable delta-wing configuration but with slab tailplanes and, in order to house a large radar set, the CF-103  used a solid nose with variable geometry air intakes on the fuselage with intake ramps and splitter plates which proved to be a perfect match for the Avon RB.146 turbojet engines each rated at 12,500 lbs thrust dry and 16,500 lbs thrust with afterburner. The aircraft was intended to be built directly from the production line thus skipping the traditional hand-built prototype phase and luckily very little re-design was required as testing progressed. On October 4th 1957, the same day as the launch of Sputnik 1, the first CF-103A was rolled out at Avro Canada's facility at Malton, Ontario eventually making it's first flight on December 30th, 1957 with Chief Development Test Pilot Janusz Zurakowski at the controls. Flight testing quickly demonstrated excellent handling and overall performance, reaching Mach 2.1 in level flight. Development was slowed slightly due to problems with the Hughes MA-1 Fire Control System and the ADEN 230 twin-barreled cannon but the first two CF-103A's entered service with No.425 Squadron on August 15th, 1961 in a ceremony at RCAF Namao, Alberta becoming fully operational by the end of the year.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the Aircraft folder drag and drop the CF-103A and CF-103B folders into your Aircraft folder.
That's it! But why are there two aircraft?
Firstly, I wanted to show this aircraft with AIM-4D Falcons so chose the CF-103A for that but to get Falcons to appear in 1963 I've had to use 'USAF' as the nation name in both the data.ini and textureset.ini which allows a 1963 in service date instead of the 1966 (the allowable export year of the AIM-4D).
Secondly, I like the look of the black intakes used on the CF-103B which are an affectionate nod towards the mighty CF-105 Arrow. So all five CF-103B skins have black intakes whilst the CF-103A has grey intakes and the continuous 'cheat line' but you can swap things around to suit your own preferences.

  18. [Fictional] BAC Lightning F.6N 'NATO'

BAC Lightning F.6N for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:Europe
This mod is meant for those without the Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 (for Strike Fighters 2 Europe) and is a simple mod of Russouk2004's superb BAC Lightning F.Mk6 from the SF1 archives to give a fictional F.6N (N for NATO) in service with four NATO air forces (Italy, The Netherlands, Spain and the UK) in a 1966 to 1988 timeline.
Unfortunately, the 3D model has some issues with decal bleed on the vertical tail and also with shadow 'ropes' but I've elected to leave shadows ON. I've had a play with the FM by pasting in some Third Wire Lightning DNA including adding 'ghost' outer wings to allow for this 3D model having a one-piece wing whereas the Third Wire Lightning has a two-piece wing and I've also fiddled with the mass fractions to distribute the weight. It flies really nice and will perform a 'hands free' take-off (flaps down, throttle up, brakes off) with the usual ability to supercruise and climb supersonicly.  As this mod is meant for those without the Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 I've used the pit from the stock F-4B Phantom.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the LightningF6N folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the LightningF6N folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop both files into your Sounds folder.
    Bingo Fuel!

Massive thanks to Russouk2004 for creating the Lightning F.Mk6 a real British thoroughbred.

  19. [Fictional] Canadair CF-103 Callisto

Canadair CF-103 Callisto for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock MiG-19S to give a very fictional 'what if' Canadair CF-103 Callisto with markings for No.423 Squadron and No.433 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force. I did this as a request back in 2009 and this update is just to add a screenshot to the listing but I've changed the name to fit in with the Canadian system of aircraft designation (the real CF-103 never left the drawing board) and I've also tweaked a few things including the Third Wire MiG-19's ferocious rate of roll at low-level.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the CF-103 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the CF-103 folder into your Decals folder.

  20. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4M USAFE

McDonnell Douglas F-4M (USAF) Phantom for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:Europe
This is a simple mod of the stock F-4M_75 to give a fictional USAFE Phantom F-4M with markings for all three squadrons of the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath during the mid 1970's.

    BACKSTORY
During late 1966 with the USA getting more and more embroiled in the Vietnam war it was decided to re-equip several USAFE units with the British licence-built F-4M so as to release older tactical aircraft such as the F-100D and F-105D for Vietnam where attrition was now a very serious issue.
McDonnell Douglas had already brought together a UK sub-contracting team consisting of BAC, Hawker Siddeley, Rolls-Royce (for the Spey turbofan engines) and Shorts with final assembly and flight testing being carried out at St. Louis but, with one eye on the European market, McDonnell Douglas moved final assembly to Brough (North Humberside) with flight testing at Holme on Spalding Moor. This decision came a bit late for the Royal Navy whose F-4K aircraft continued to be assembled and flight tested in the USA but all F-4M's were produced in the UK with all odd production numbers being allocated to the RAF and all even numbers to the USAFE with Lakenheath and Bitburg becoming the first USAFE wings to re-equip with the type.
Entering service with the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath in England in 1970 the F-4M's received a modest upgrade during 1973-1974 to emerge with the Marconi ARI18228 RWR mounted on the fintip and also gained 'slimer' formation-keeping strip lights. The USAF F-4M's had a relatively long career with USAFE and were eventually replaced by F-15E's during 1990 and just missed out on participation in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4M_74 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4M_74 folder into your Decals folder.

  21. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas Phantom RNZAF

McDonnell Douglas Phantom F-4M_89 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire Phantom FGR.2 (F-4M_75) to give a fictional 'Kiwi' Phantom with markings for No.2 squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air Force as they might have appeared during the 1990's. It goes without saying that you will need to have the F-4M_75 from SF2:Europe.

    BACKSTORY

During the build up to Operation Corporate (the UK's military operation to retake the Falkland Islands) the UK Government were overwhelmed at the support given by the countries of the Commonwealth and, in particular, the response of the Australian and New Zealand Governments who provided ships to maintain the UK's NATO commitments and thus allow the Royal Navy to maximise the number of ships it could send to the South Atlantic.
In the following years there were many reciprocal deals made and favours given to the Commonwealth nations (and even Chile!) and one such 'favour' was the transfer of 18 ex-RAF Phantom FGR.2's in 1988. The 18 FGR.2's, only recently withdrawn from RAF service, were ferried out to New Zealand (most still in their dirty grey camo scheme) during Operation Saddleback before arriving at Ohakea for refurbishment by a joint McDonnell Douglas/RNZAF team that saw the aircraft eventually emerge in a new 'Forest' style camo scheme and with digital INAS, upgraded RWR and new outer wing panels. Entering service with No.2 squadron in early 1989 (supposedly as the Karearea but they were always simply called Phantoms) the aircraft gave good service to the Royal New Zealand Air Force during the 1990's until finally being retired in December 2001 when, indeed, all 'Air Combat Force' aircraft were sadly withdrawn from service.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4M_89 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4M_89 folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the SUU-23G folder into your Weapons folder.

  22. Thunderstreak FGA.1 - RAF Middle East Command

Republic Aviation Thunderstreak FGA.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 1
This is a 'what if' Thunderstreak FGA.1 with markings for No.20 squadron in a Desert Camo by whiteknight06604.

Regarding the Thunderstreak in RAF service then there is no backstory but perhaps the UK needed some muscle when the Supermarine Swift started going pear-shaped!

    INSTRUCTIONS

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the THUNDERSTREAKFGA1 folder into your main Decals folder.

  25. Hunter FGA.9 - 1970's Wittering Wing

Hawker Hunter FGA.9 - 1970's Wittering Wing for STRIKE FIGHTERS 1
This is a simple decal conversion of the sublime Third Wire Hunter FGA.9 to enable you to fly a mid-1970's era Hunter from the short-lived Wittering Wing that was created to keep RAF newly graduated ground-attack pilots 'current' whilst waiting for the Jaguar to enter service.
This will only work in 'Wings Over Europe' but you can, of course, also make it work in the other Third Wire Series One games by extracting and exporting all of the relevant files.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HunterFGA9w folder into your Aircraft folder.
