  1. Sorry Hauk, I should have noted that the two failures were at the end of October eg the Dr.I was in service for about two weeks from mid to end October before it was grounded. Cheers, shredward
  2. Jasta 11 was re-equipped by early January, Jasta 6 shortly thereafter, though both units flew some Albatri into February. Jasta 4 received Dr.Is much later, around 20 April, and Jasta 10 never did get any. (per Greg VanWyngarden) Cheers, shredward
  3. F.1 102/17 and 103/17 arrived at JGI, Marckebeeke at the end of August. Voss first flew 103 on the evening of the 28th, Richtofen and Voss flew 102 and 103 respectively soon after in a demo for film and visiting dignitaries. Deliveries of the Dr.I began about 10 October. Heinrich Gontermann was killed in the structural failure of his Dr.I on the 30th, Günther Pastor the next day in a similar failure, and Idflieg grounded the type. Modifications were approved on November 28th, and deliveries resumed in mid-December. Cheers, shredward

  5. You mean I can't enlist Horace Flopbot-Bloomer ? Blast
  6. Wicker seat, small windscreen, two cocking levers in front, nicely furnished woodwork, BR 1 in front Cheers, shredward
  7. I use my XP Pro machine to work on it and run it. Looks great here. Cheers, shredward
  8. Winder would have to confirm, but I think the light coloured fields are the chalky ploughed fields so noticeable from the air on the Somme and in the Champagne. Cheers, shredward
  9. That is Barker's Snipe, poor bugger. Hope he makes it! From what I hear, he deserves the VC for that fight. Cheers, shredward
  10. Life is great, though of course not nearly enough hours in the day. Still a lot of work to do before all I want to add in to WOFF is finished. Cheers, shredward
  11. Hi Captain, I'm running it on the same machine I used when working on P3, and WOFF looks great. I daresay, if yours worked for OFF, it will work for WOFF. Cheers, shredward
  12. They will mostly work. Except for the ones that don't HTH Shredward
  13. During duty hours, it's Wings Over Flanders Fields. This is , however the mess, and the only things one commonly sees flying around the room are mugs, chairs, bodies, and on appropriate occasions, the squadron pig. We remain Offers, though few of us are gentlemen Cheers Shredward
  14. This is always the forum I check first, and the one I post on most often. As far as I'm concerned, this is still the Mess Cheers, Shredward
  15. Hi Tony, Very glad to hear from you again. Good luck Ted
  16. The OFF LePrieurs are actually CFS Typhoon rockets, which is what makes them both ahistorical, and so much fun. The LePrieur was basically a glorified Guy Fawkes firework, and was superseded in late '16 by the much more effective incendiary ammo types used for the remainder of the war. But as Uncle Al used to note, they sure are fun! Cheers, Shredward
  17. Favourite tactic of mine - ramming distance, then let loose with the rockets. Great fun, completely ahistorical. I should be court-martialed for that alone
  18. The Halbs first appeared in frontline service in June '16, peaked in December at 104 examples, and disappeared with the mass arrival of the Alb DIII from Feb to April '17. Cheers, shredward
  19. Quoting from the Halberstadt Fighters Datafile: The Halberstadt fighter was universally esteemed for its facile flight characteristics, quickness of control response and excellent performance, praise probably not equalled until the arrival of the Fokker DVII....Indeed, during a meeting of fighter pilots in Cambrai on December 22 1916 to discuss the future of fighter development, most of the participants opted strongly for the Halberstadt DV powered by a 120hp Mercedes and armed with two machine guns. The reason given was that the Halberstadt was a 'delight to fly'....Frankl flew the Halberstadt in the wildest banks and loops that I had ever seen...The machine was extraordinarily easy to fly, was very fast and stable, and possessed no vices...The wings, unusual for a fighter in that they were of a two-bay configuration, were robust but at the expense of drag-producing struts and wires. Cheers, shredward
  20. Have faith my friends. Cheers, shredward
  21. Ballpark, multiply by 3 Cheers, shredward
  22. Hello Bravo! I have the Windsock Datafile for it, if that would be useful. Cheers, shredward
  23. I think I read elsewhere that Glupopo was the nick for Heinz Gluszewski. Yes, Buddecke's website is an endless source of treasure. I incorporated the knowledge gleaned from that photo into WOFF a few days ago. Cheers, shredward
