  9. Terrain,tiles, and trees are done, maybe by now it would all be done, but Wrench and me had a misunderstanding so we have to re-adjust the targets for new terrain version. I suspect release could be RELATIVELY soon ;) BTW...it's not like we had kept it secret, there are threads with pictures all around the forum lol
  10. Well yeah, although ANW terrain and Korea are very different, the place in Korea where I did that is not highly elevated in the first place so this didn't make drastic change of looks. ANW on the other hand... Actually what would be enough for ANW is probably just to fit one tile on the flat area...

Yeah exactly like that, you will see how I did it in my Korea map, I only cutted into hills maybe about 2km on each side of the river but following the configuration of elevation so to speak, it looks perfectly natural. Ofcourse it's not completely realistic for that area, but we can hardly talk about realistic when our HFD's have only 500m resolution. I wondered if our systems are ready for higher detail HFD's, actually I tried to re-make ANW terrain with higher HFD resolution, but for some reason, I didn't manage to create 500x500km terrain...
  13. Best way to work rivers on hilly terrain is to make a sort of transitional area between water and higher grounds, otherwise you can expect water mountains and such stuff, I did that using SFMap for my Korea terrain, you will see ;)

  15. Well the FA-18 in-game is capable of 20G's+ controls are THAT effective, I slightly adjusted that...isn't F-18 FBW eqipped?

  17. Well anyway I come onto theese two links, basically a guy is talking about the Red Flag excersizes with IAF(Indian Air Force), nothing that sounds too confidential but interesting nevertheless. He describes how things went along with F-15,F-16,F-22 vs Su-30 and MiG-21Bison. One of the really interesting things is the way he talks about MiG-21Bison it seems that baby is a bad@ss lil' plane. He also mentions French Rafale, F-15K...anyway watch and see:

  20. I experimeted with higher resolutions, when I did my ANW re-paint. Originally they were made in 2048x2048 which would give just slightly less than 1m per pixel which should be VERY good. However, what I didn't take into account is the quality of the texture itself. In the end it turned out that sizing it down to 1024 did not change the looks of it at all, only sizing it down to 512 showed some extremely mild quality reduction to the point of only a sand grain counter would notice, a worthy notice to mention is that tile size didn't affect my FPS AT ALL even though I had only 1GB system ram/128MB gfx ram at the time. At that point I realized that with current satelite imagery available to "mortals" such things are rarely worth the effort, or in other words, areas of such quality are very rare on GoogleEarth. Now as for the mega tiles, to use 64x64Km tile and to get 1mpp you would need 64000x64000 sized tile, that's 411MB, I can't even imagine how long would the terrain load with several of those. However I must admit that terrain variety could dramatically improve with that. The second problem is the terrain mesh, or in our case HFD, which is not very detailed, how would a tile, which would basically be a 2D image of the area, fit onto the HFD... However don't take my skepticzm as a downer, I'm really interested in your ideas and would like to see how and if you can pull it out

  22. I'm still working on the tiles for non-WOI users, will need adjusting for Gepards new update so it will take a while, especially since I also have other projects... Well I'm thousands of miles away in Croatia, but thx man, I really appriciate the concern :) I already arranged something so things are cool again :D
