J-10 cockpit information
Brain32 replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
the insky.cn guys already made the cockpit looking exactly like that, I guess they are still working on it... -
Each and every terrain in any flight sim game is using tiles in one way or another, imo SF's uses quite obosolete way that makes significant changes unbelievably hard and irritating task for one person to do. IL2 and LockOn IMO use what is currently the most reasonable way of using tiles for a terrain. Yes I know about FSX and Google Earth possibility but imo that is cr@p, first the amount of textures needed to map even a small country is insane. Second there are practically no two same(weather, time of day, season, etc.) areas on entire planet, other than that there is also the resolution and quality of textures that is in question. Imagine for example starting your flight in beautifull spring enchanted Portugal, only to enter Spain 2mins later that is in late Autmn, as you enter France you have a huge chunk of terrain mapped by satellite pictures taken in 70's-80's that look like hang over went bad from anything other than 30 000m, then as you prepare to land in Germany it's snowy lol Tiles can be made very nicely for SF too, but the amount of time for one single terrain is huge, especially if you are extra concerned with variety, I've figured out that the overall feel of variety is greatly influenced by number of transition tiles, you can make 200 different normal tiles but if you have only 6 basic transition tiles it will still look repetitive... The other reason for repetitiveness is the 4-way seamless demand, that means that EVERY tile has to have all of it's edges exactly the same as other tiles to fit in seamlessly - stay serious and tell me that doesen't F'k up the whole thing ;) Other than all of the above, we could really use more guys on terrains :)

No trees after patch
Brain32 replied to kukulino's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I compared Alpha object entries between CA_Stary's GH2 DATA.ini and new WoV data.ini and they are quite different however - using new entries does not help. As for TW forum for osme strange reason I can't access it right now -
No trees after patch
Brain32 replied to kukulino's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
LOL relax man, here's my way of sorting things with this game: 1. Try to solve it on your own 2. If #1 fails consult other people on CA 3. If both, #1 and #2 fail, go bitch on TW forums for TK to see and fix it :D Seriously though I have no doubt this was simply a mishap and will be solved ;) -
No trees after patch
Brain32 replied to kukulino's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hmm this does not seem like it will be simple, I really need to instal WoE because it, unlike WoV has some trees by default... -

Exactly, guys I haven't had the time to even install the new patches yet, so if you give me some time be sure I'll try to do something about it ASAP -
Oct 2008 patches

OMG labels!!!! Finally I'll see the bastards, can't wait to try it out :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) -
This is kinda weird, why looking at it as an "oh sh*t there's F/A-256GT BI TURBO with 25 Aim-9XXX and 16 plasma cannons 50m behind on my six" kind of manouver? You can avoid overshootin the plane YOU are attacking for example because you loose massive amounts of speed that way, also with a J-turn which is basically a horizontal cobra you can switch directions by extreme ange VERY quickly and point the seeker where conventional plane couldn't in given situation. Yes sure in a modern combat VVR means things already went wrong, but when they do and sooner or later they will, I would certainly like to have that asset with me...

Speaking of FM's, the new F-15's have some probs, I noticed it immidiately but...it seems I am greatest F-15 nut here to actually do notice such a stuff... :D Anyway F-15C MSIP and latest version of F-15E, have a nasty problem at about Mach 2.21, when you hit that speed the plane starts a violent pitch down(just noted -8,73G's) and after a few secs it explodes :helpsmilie: NOTE: on hard mode and it did not happen before the patch...

Ummm about my part of this...I'm a bit on hold as I got fired yesterday so I'm kinda into solving some RL stuff now. Maybe I get to upload something for the weekend though ;-) -

Missiles speed
Brain32 replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK, I've tried those links, and it gave me 0,077G's for max speed of mach 9 although I entered 4900Km in 3600sec(which should roughly equate to Mach 4). I failed math twice in highschool but this looked simple enough even for me lol I mean shouldn't it be more simple like "(10m/s*12,5)*t" where "t"=time through which object accelerated at 12,5G's? That would give for example 125m/s*8sec=1000m/s which would give about 3,4 Mach Is that how it's done? -
Afghanistan Terrain
Brain32 replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
No promises but it might be doable from my side, it will also depend on the final terrain. If Gepard includes Kandahar then I might actually do it as Google Earth has great shots of that desert. If not, there's no point for me to do it if there will be no action around it ;)
