  7. A Mi-24 with the Name "Biene Maja"
  8. The effect of the guns, especially of the light machine guns is overmoddeled. This is true. But with adding armour on the planes you can change this and you can harden them against light Flak. By the way, it is not only the soviet way to trust more on the big caliber guns. All european airplanebuilding contries(Sweden, France, GB, Germany) use caliber 27 to 30 mm.
  9. The major quality improvement step was from MiG-23MF to ML. The ML was lighter and stronger. The engine was much more efficent, so that the aft tank could be removed. The weapon system was also improved. You must understand, that the MiG-23 was developed as counterpart to the planned F-111 fighter versions. But when entered the service they had to face the F-15 and F-16. The developed MiG-23 tactic against this planes was hit and run. Avoid close combat at all costs, hold the speed high, fire the medium range missiles and run away with full burner. The syrians claim some (if i remember right 10) F-16 kills in 1982 due MiG-23MF while using medium range missiles and using hit and run tactics. One or two years later they claime one F-15 kill due MiG-23ML. There is no official confirmation by israeli sources. The MiG-23 was not the loved plane. In the east german airforce LSK/LV it was originally intended to build up a big MiG-23 force. When the MiG-23 was available in 1977 and the first service experiences came in it was decided in 1980 to wait till the MiG-29 was exported by the soviets. Flight tests in Manching after the reunification of Germany showed that the MiG-23 was underestimated by western services. It proved better than expected. 12 MiG-23ML were exported to the USA in early 1991 to give them a chance to find out the real weak points of this bird before the Gulf War began. If you ask from where i have my knowledge. I served out my military time from 1988 to 1990 in the LSK/LV.
  10. In real combat the Strela-2 missile was not unsuccesfull. A lot of A-4 Skyhawk were hit in Yom Kippur War by this missile. The weakpoint of the weapon was the small warhead, so that the majority of hitten planes survived the missile hit. The Strela 2 is today outdated and was replaced by the Igla missile. Igla is comparable with Stinger, but had a much wider field of view.
  11. Jaguar in landing approach at Hopsten air base.
  12. 8 new airbases for SFP1 and WOE. Still in development.
  13. Ya is one russian letter, no two, its only the trancription from cyrillic to latin alphabet what make it looks strange and excepional. No man in russia would say "I fly a TU", He would say" I fly a Tupolew". MiG is an exception because MiG is also a russian word. It stands for "fast".
  14. This is Marxwalde Air Base Beta version for Deutschland terrain. Still it is located only at my personal test terrain, but i think it could be released for Deutschland terrain soon. This Base is a german italian cooperation. Enrico Gennardi made the files for runways, Taxiways and parking areas, i puzzled it together. Hope you like it. Michael (Gepard)
  15. View File 3 Soviet MiG-15 Red Nose Korea War Skins This are 3 skins for Paskos MiG-15bis and are basing on the original skins of Pasko. They represent 3 soviet Fighter Divisions who operated in 1951 over the MiG-Alley. In 1951 all MiG-15 units painted their MiG-15 with red high visibility markings to avoid misidentifications with F-86 Sabre. The markings of the units were different. All common was the red nose, but the size of the red area was different. Also the paintings on the tail were different. Some units had, other had not red tails. The bord numbers were first 4 digit , later 3 digit. The color of the bord number was black, but also blue and red numbers were seen over Korea. I used the black in this package, but if you want to have red numbers, feel free to change it. The Units: The 151. IAD fought only 4 weeks in February, lost 6 MiG's and shot down 36 US planes. The 324.IAD was commanded by Col. Iwan Koshedub. Fough from March 1951 to January 1952. Lost 24 MiG's and shot down 215 enemy planes. Top ace was Jewgeni Pepeljajew with 19 Kills (16 confirmend by US sources). 303.IAD fought from April 1951 to February 1952. It was commanded by Col. Lobow. Top ace was Nikolai Sutjagin with 21 kills (14 confirmend by US sources). The 303.IAD shot down 302 enemy planes and lost 49 MiG-15. 18. The F-20 Tigershark was a very good plane. It became the victim of the F-16 lobby, who successfully sabotaged the F-20 purchase of US Military. The F-20 would have been the superior Air Defence Fighter for US Homeland defence. It had the mid range Air to Air Capability. The F-16 had to modified to ADF version for meeting the Air Defence requirements. The F-20 would have been the better Adversary trainer in Top Gun and Red Flag exercises to simulate modern soviet airplanes like the MiG-29. The F-16 lobby promoted succesfully the F-16N. The result was, that the F-16N was unable to play this role due fast system fatigue and beginning cracks on the wings, so that the USN was forced to go back to the proved reliable F-5E. Export success was also torpedoed by F-16 lobby. So production lines in South Korea and India were never materialized. With US Government support the F-16 was always comepetited against the F-20. The data files showed, that the F-20 was not worser than the F-16, in contrary it was in some points superior. It was able to climb faster and curved better. But one major weakpoint the F-20 desing had: It built up much to fast G Forces. During flight test and also during demonstration flights F-20 crashed due Pilot blackout and G-Lock. Under this point of view the F-20 was dangerous for its own pilot and the selection of the F-16 was the right choise.
  19. The KS-19 100mm Flak is not very effective in WOV, but cou could try to implement the KS-60 57mm. It fires much faster and is much more effective. Personaly i had never troubles with KS-19, but KS-60 hit me a couple of times. The same is with 37mm Flak or the Bofors from WW2 terrains.

View File Suez 2 terrain SUEZ 2 TERRAIN Version 2.0 ************************* Suez 2 terrain is a version of my Israel2 terrain with the borders pre 1967 Six Days War and with enhanced tilesset. The main difference between Suez 2 and Suez terrain is, that Suez 2 is now sized nearly correct, while Suez terrain size was only 60% of real. The number of target areas is increased from 94 to 346. New areas with targets are the Golan heights and the Westbank. In Suez 2 terrain you will find Lebanon as neutral contry, Syria is holding the Golan heights, Jordan is owner of the Westbank and Egypt rules the Sinai and the Gaza strip. The SAM fence along the Suez Canal is not installed, because it was built between 1970 and 1972. Only some point defence SAM you will face over the Sinai, close to Kairo and near Beni Suef Airbase. Suez2 terrain is more smooth than Israel2 terrain. If you want to have the same roughness like in Israel2 terrain simply copy files Israel2.hfd into Suez2 folder and rename it into Suez2.hfd. *************************************** Suez 2 Terrain INSTALLATION instruction: Unzip all files into your Terrain folder. 24. Hawk SAM is already available.
  25. Desert.cat contains only a desert tileset. I Think in AmericaNW you has a own tileset. The shoreline is not effected by desert.cat. It depends from the tileset.
