Yeah I've heard about those 2 (i think there is also a gun camera recording of the event or something like that). But those 21s weren't fighting, they were leaving irak, so at the end I keep thinking Mig-21 were not doing any fight at all in DS. Thanks for the second list, I will sure take some time to read it and "cross check" with other data. I mean, 4 of htem were shot down! quite some action isn't?!?! What i really mean was they were not extensively used in combat operations, perhaps as decoys or SAM traps baits, but not much more...at least not in the way they were used in the war against Iran

We agree about Mig-21 didn´t see much action. About downed F-7Bs, are you sure these were downed in the course of an action against enemy forces or simply shot down when flying to iran? My source is basically a huge .doc file i've been compiling from many internet sources, forums, books, etc. Basically anything i've read about IrAF goes to that file...but hey! any new data or correction is always welcome!

Mig-21bis was first delivered in Irak around '79. 47th and 37th sqd were already operational in '81. MF stop flying somewhere in the mid 80s. I don't think the bis saw too much action during DS Main iraqi fighters those days where Mirages F1, Mig-23 (mainly MLs),mig-29 and Mig-25PD. F-7B where never used in combat, just for training.

Por ahora, aparentemente el sistema de alojamiento de archivos esta fuera de servicio. Igual te comento un poco, lo ideal es que armes bien la carpeta con todos los archivos que necesitas (decals, .ini, etc, cosa que sea facil instalarla. Tambien es recomendable crear un archivo txt tipo leeme o algo asi, donde especifiques bien para que modelo es el skin que estas subiendo y hagas una breve descripcion de los pasos necesarios para la instalacion.. Por ultimo metes todo en un . rar y los subis. De nuevo, ahora, aparentemente no se puede, seguramente en estos dias estara solucionado el problema. Saludos

Sobre el tercer punto, hay unas modificaciones sobre la IA que se le hacian al data.ini de cada aeronave, que te permitia lograr que los otros componenetes de tu vuelo te sigieran en formacion por debajo de los 600 pies. Lo que si tampoco esperes que te sigan a 10 mts del agua, pero si mejoran bastante. Hay que agregar esto al final del DATA.ini de la aeronave en cuestion: Despues juga con los valores de safe altitude y fijate que resulta

If you allow me I will use this thread to post another doubt about campaigns (that way I won't create a new thread with just a simple question)... Does anyone know which is the difference beetween the supply value in the Force section, and the supply value in the unit section??? Which of these values are modified by the supply rate??? And which of these values are compared with the "supplyfor offensive??? I still can't figure out (reading the campign notes fronm the KB) how these values work on the campign....Any help? Thanks.....

Nevertheless there are re ports (french sources) from East German pilots flying Tu-22 also in Libya............ Apparently three of them (only one aircraft) were shot down and killed in 1987...

Hi More "light" on the subject about the Matra Magic and the Mig-21. From Mr.Tom Cooper himself in acig.org , he told us that, the only migs modificated to use the magics were the mig-21bis form 47th Sqd since Autum 1980 "flown to death" by 1984. Also, the AIM-9B form Jordan could be used in any aircraft wired for the R-3S because no modification was required.

That is the problem on training during war time. You need to get the skills needed to put you in the front and that's it. On peace time you train to get as good as you can get....BIG difference. If there is no war operations, all squads kind of become "training units". About our specific subject... I guess, having new Mig-25/Su-20/Mirage F1 to fly , F-13 and F-7 wont be missed so much.... I remember to read something about a squad (think it was the 7th but not sure) armed on the hurry with old versions of Mig-21 (PFM,FL,F-13,F) to be flown until they "run out of hours". I Don't think they are too much needed for the initial release....But that's only my opinion........

Let's get clear. I'm not saying that all the IrAF performed well during the war. In my post i was talking only about techs... IrAF was not an heterogenous force. Some units where highly trained and experiencied, but with obsolete equipment. Some tactics where also out of date and have to be readapted during the fight (which is way more difficult to do than in "peace time") . They did have some good performance, but also some really bad ones....Thats mainly because, from my point of view, the soviets where not interested in provide training to other airforces, just hardware. Proof of that, were all those soviet squads deployed on the south of Iraq, armed with Mig-25, Mig-23ML and Mig-21. They need those planes been tested by their own people. Other reasons were that, this guy SH, who, from my point of view, was a complete stupid, paranoid and psycho, believed that the Air force was about to force him out..and never allowed the Air force to act independently. He was always saying what to do, and that's a mistake ALWAYS. Pilots are fighters not politicians... And the wars are always winned by fighters, although politics always takes the credit..... By the way, seems that the Mig-21 which carried the Magics were the Mig-21bis from the No.47 Sqdn (based on Kirkuk ?? not sure.). Apparently they were also capable of carring the R-60T (a missile relatively rare in the IrAF)

Not sure about the french mercenaries, supouss could be true. But the integration of Magic on Mig-21MF could be easilly done by iraqi techincians (They've also integrated the Exocet on the Mig-23ML, but only as prototype). Despite general believe (due mainly to propaganda), they where highly capacitated and trained, same with the iranians (The last are still flying a very complex aircraft as the Tomcat without almost any help from the manufacturer). So, i guess Mig-21MF could carry Magic missles.......of course, after the arrival of the Mirage F1....
