  1. This is an actual, production, derivative of the trusty Herc. They use that aircraft for broadcast of radio and tv and also to intercept radio and tv. -Skater
  2. I think what he meant by not a joke was that it was an official design proposal, which it is. I have seen that proposal before. So far, it's not recieving much attention or merit, THANK GOD. -Skater

    I'm Activated

Good luck Brother. Go with God. Keep the shiny side up and come back safe. -Skater
  4. Look at it this way Snap... You are an ex-fighter pilot. You are also the Prez. So you are holding all the strings, you can pull whichever you want to get what you want. Now here is your choice.... 1.Trap aboard ship in the back of a COD like cargo. -or- 2. Trap aboard ship in the right seat of an S-3 like a co-pilot. Your choice. Screw the publicity and photo ops and whatever... Which would YOU choose??? I rest my case. ;) -Skater

    Hog Wild Van

Same here. I was cracking the hell up when the tire iron and the jack was tossed overboard. Very, very funny! Showed it to my wife... She totally did not get it. Oh well. -Skater
  7. 1993? Paul's Boutique. I remember it well. Ch-Check it Out is pretty good. Some great old school sounds on there. -Skater
  8. Stay safe Gator, and come back shiny side up. -Skater
  9. I have bought helmets and parts from Check6. Top Notch outfit, and good prices depending on availability. -Skater
  10. The Tweak Guide Part II is out. Tell me what you guys think, and feel free to send me any tweaks you know of to be added to the list. -Skater
  11. It took a while to compile from a variety of sources, but as far as Windows XP services and gaming, this now seems to be the most complete and definitive guide now available on the 'net. Part II will be published soon, and Part III sometime after that. Originally, it was designed as a Two-Part serier, but a Third part will be a comparison test with benchmarks. If you have not seen the article, take a look at it, and sound off in here and let me know what you think. -Skater
  12. That's not a P-80 Shooting Star, it's a Bell XP-80. The experimental aircraft did not make it into production, but was the first US Jet aircraft. Sounds like you had a great trip. The Smithsonian is AWESOME! -Skater

Zag, send me your address, I have 5 copies (binder version). I'll send you one. -Skater
  14. OK, I died like, a billion times! I kept getting blasted into or fell into the lava pits. Overall though, the volcano level was too short and the game ended too abruptly, as if they were dying to finish the game and put it out. I was hoping for more. On the whole... Friggin' fantastic game man!!! Can't wait for the mods to start hitting the 'net. -Skater
  15. Amazing! Simply Amazing! I can't believe how good it is. I have been playing nonstop. I just nuked the research facility and got kicked out of the chopper by Krieger. I am now at the beginning of the Dam level. This is probably the best game of it's kind that I have ever played. Yes... I think it is. Those Trigens have been scaring the s**t out of me since I first saw one. I am in awe. -Skater
  16. I got it today, and I can't believe what I am reading in the manual and what I see as I am installing it... 4GB of installation space needed Only supports specific ATI and nVidia chipsets MUST have Catalyst drivers v3.9 The list goes on... I just hope once I get it installed, the gameplay justifies all this pickiness and super hardware requirements. -Skater
  17. Shift-F1 will put the reticle into view in all aircraft. In German aircraft, the offset is more pronounced, but it is offset in all aircraft. You cannot shoot properly without using the reticle view or another boresighted view. -Skater

    Bfv Vs. Ati

Seems like they are doing it again then. Becasue, after all, 3dfx was taken over by nVidia, and most of the 3dfx management, went on to positions with nVidia. So it's really no surprise that they would go back to business as usual. -Skater

    Locked?

Ok, this has gone on long enough. The thread was locked, and now, so is this one. We can't have whining threads about every locked thread now, can we gentlemen? Let's get back to our normal posting habits please. Thank you. -Skater

  24. Snap, the B-2 could have cost less if we bought more of them. The reason for the high unit cost, was because we lowered how many we intended to buy several times. The production, tooling, personnell, development, and yada yada yada costs had to be recouped. You can thank Clintonian legislators and politicians for the cost overruns. Had we spent 10 Billion more on acquiring these aircraft, we'd have 40 of them, not 20. Also, as a testament to how incredible these aircraft are, we have yet to lose one. Not even in test and development. Name one aircraft that can claim zero class A mishaps. The B-2 is the only one I know of, and this a completely radical design and concept, not a tried and true design. This is the first tailless flying wing ever in production. Also, the aircraft has a capability like no other. In one pass, from Angels 40, it can hit 36 targets precisely with PGM's or JDAM's. Not even the B-1 can do this, and the B-2 does this with almost complete impunity from ground based defenses. I am not an extreme righty, and I do not support everything the military wants to buy, but I do support the B-2. It is simply a phenominal aircraft, and one whose purpose has not passed. Look at the B-52, more than 50 years after it's first flight, that airframe is still the workhorse of the bomber fleet. Used in every major conflict since Korea. The B-2 has more capability, there is no reason it should not be as valuable as the BUFF. Also, plese not that the B-2 in the museum was a ground test airfram used for dev and test. It has never flown, and was not constructed to be airworthy. It is basically useless after ground testing and avionics development and testing phases are complete. She'll be an excellent addition to the museum. -Skater
  25. You came to the right place, because I am a Sonar Tech! Technically, A and B are correct. However, the safe answer is A. The reason is that Active transmission has the capability to give longer range under certain conditions that I will not go into here. Also, you will get more information, especially for targeting purposes, at longer range with active transmission than you would with passive, and you would get that information very quickly. Passive listening can get you info, over a long period of time, and you can stay quiet and stealthy. You can move fast while using active, and still get usable info. You cannot transit at high speed using passive and expect to get anything in return. Passive listening has it's pro's and con's as does active transmission. Given a choice, I would stay passive, firm up the contact, stay stealthy, get a firing solution, maneuver the boat, fire off axis, turn the fish with the wire, and go active on the torpedo when 145 degrees off of actual bearing. But that's just me. :) -Skater
