in a related offshoot, what happened to column5's stuff? i know a bunch is on here, and it was put in an archive several years back when his main site went to poetry (or something similar iirc). can't find it now tho, the post above got me looking at marcfighters site, and the links on the left are a vivid window to the past ("new Hawker Hunter F6 by armourdaves", or "new model F-8D Crusader by Lobo Mau, volksjager, column5, crab_02, USAFMTL, Flying-V, Charles Gunst") also yeah, most has much better and newer stuff esp. for the Gen2 crowd. but it seems a shame for such a resource to disappear -

SF2 Nations Expansion Pack
daddyairplanes replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
for permissions double check that the original author is a member of the freeware licensing agreement or that they give blanket permission in their readmes. just a couple of unbiased (cough cough) suggestions, add in the US Army, Airliner nation and a red Airliner nation. airliner nation and formation.ini can be found with any of my airliner releases, and it would add more variety to the skies and flight lines, esp as many airlines would get pressed into service or chartered during a conflict no reason why this retired Soldier would want the Army represented -
SF2 Repaints Question
daddyairplanes replied to AJAY67's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
there are several Dhimari skins out there, as well as Parani skins. Spinners also has a squadron unit badge set for the different units. this guy that skins jumbos even made a Dhimari C-17 iirc of course, there is also the classic call to make your own, in which case look for the template for the aircraft in question or again make your own. -

Some more models for the new AB completed
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
looks good, although your destroyed model on the one a/c shelter may be more complete than anything shy of a nuke. an image search on google of "destroyed iraqi aircraft shelters" shows most with a big circular hole, debris blow out from the easiest door for the explosion to breach and scorching inside. the outside tends to look intact or have some slabs/blocks displaced rather than being entirely a flat smoking ruin but this is common of all the building destroyed models in this game (stock and 3d party). in real life (post WW2) there is often a signifigant amount of the building left, much like in Kosovo (around 2000) where the facade was blown off of many buildings but people were living in them still (and even watching Sky News on satellite tv!) with the appearance of an overgrown doll house. just a thought as you continue, but it is really awesome work so far and look forward to whats next -

B-52G_89 ODS skin exhaust fix
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i realized i have goofed with the ini file for the water injection on the B-52Gs for ODS. it was a last minute adjustment that i did not run by the test team in order to prevent conflict with other J57ExhaustEmmiters. FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS DOWNLOADED THE B-52G_89 FOR ODS PRIOR TO 16 JANUARY 2019: add this to your effects folder, it will correct the error and you will experience as close to a water injection takeoff as the game allows Effects.7z FOR EVERYONE WHO DOWNLOADS AFTER 16 JANUARY 2019: the file has been fixed, you will not need this. My apologies to everyone who downloaded previously and needs this fix -

cool thing about western militaries is our ability to make it up on the fly to get the job done! (not to bash others, "western forces are what I have personal experience with and even the Polish, Hungarians and Czechs I've dealt with were moving to a more western model at teh time of working with them)

New Airbase
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
two cent observation, given my prediliction for airliner eye candy the game will load any aircraft in the install, stock or mod. But it does it when it damn well pleases, even if you set parking chance to 100%. also, most spaces are set for stock aircraft, which can lead to bigger planes merging imagine these guys joined at teh waist. it actually happens alot, and i usually pause for my screenies and have to manuever around to get such oddities out of the shot. sorry, for the just explained reason no example shots at this time so when setting up parking spaces, take the dimensions of say a C-5 and assign length and wingspan values for that to any parking spots you want to see large aircraft on. but be forewarned, the game will randomly select something (be it a KC-135 or an A-37) to go there (within the allowed nations) and jury is still out on if a minimum wingspan value would work (there is a maximum wingspan entry in the ini) NOTE: after rereading before posting i realize Menrva was talking about 3d party airfields not aircraft. but the parking info for the ini could still be useful so still posting -
Converting SF1 GUI To SF2

also, most stock stuff gets credited to TK if you want to name a person (his show overall) or TW if you wanna keep it general -

tonight on ini dancing with the stars, precision adjustments to 4 decimal places (and a random 180 degree rotation to get it to work) or "if the fan blades arent in the model i'll just sticker them in myself!" -

daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
well dammit add another item to teh list? there will be a bare metal skin hopefully (as well as a T-43) workin on it boss!!! that new F-4G mentioned will be eagerly awaited too. question, do you have Excel? thats what my aircraft list is in right now JSF_Aggie, you know i released a pretty comprehensive F-4N set for both the DLC and Storm's version? it would be a good jump off point, though it could use some touch up on BuNos and CAG birds within the run of skins (but I included all users from BEELINE completion to retirement in mid 80s as set skins, as well as Eagle Claw skins). -

Operation Desert Storm Skinpack and Updates for B-52G_89
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File Operation Desert Storm Skinpack and Updates for B-52G_89 Operation Desert Storm Skinpack and Updates for B-52G_89 This Mod will add ODS skins for the B-52G_89 found here some weapon, ini, effects and sound edits are also included to enhance the operation of this classic bomber Included: Updated and reskinned B-52G_89, Decal set that puts multiple camoflages on each skin and at least a dozen Historical aircraft with Unit markings and nose art, updated weapons common to that version of the aircraft, a fake gunpod pylon for use with dual MERs, and updated sounds and effects. Historical Notes: Although you can fly em all, the only accurate skin to fly within ODS would be the Jeddah skin. The others flew from off of the various Iraq terrains available. Bomb missions markings not included as these are set to represent the beginning of the campaign. While many other weapons can be carried, the improved ones are the ones carried during Desert Storm, and strategic weapons (nukes) While ALCM pylon is missing (more below), it only affects the Senior Surprise mission from Barksdale AFB (16-17 Jan 1991). The other Bomb Wings did not employ CALCMs Installation: unzip. put all folders EXCEPT Templates into desired mod folder. Allow overwrites as needed. Known Issues: While there is currently a new Hound Dog pylon selectable in the download menu, there is not an ALCM pylon. While some sources state that the CALCMs were carried on the stub pylons, I find that not too likely.but it is how it is carried in game at this time. Either I will learn Blender and create one in the future, or a volunteer would be welcomed to create one (likely a faster route). But at time of initial release (24/12/2018) the cruise missiles are carried on the stubs. Contributors B-52G_89 from the B-52 Mega Era Pack: original project lead Dave, original model by wpnssgt, original cockpit by Dels -yakarov79: ini edit assistance(weapons grouping) -KJakker: data.ini edit assistance, revisions to cockpit, countermeasure strength, revised weapons -spillone104: model for Hound Dog pylon -Nyghtfall, Menrva: technical advice and assistance -Nyghtshade/PR and bigstone: research materials and many interesting screenshots (those arcade/Wingman loadouts!) -all of the above: project test team -daddyairplanes: ini edits, weapons ini edits to boost numbers available in game, tga base camoflage skins, unit and individual markings, conversion of spillone104's AGM28 pylon model from a fake pilot to selectable weapon, adjustment of effects to simulate water injection on takeoff. -Third Wire: for the original game I hope you enjoy this mod as much as the test team did and i did creating it Daddyairplanes aka Kevin Unruh 24 December 2018 Submitter daddyairplanes Submitted 12/24/2018 Category B-52-
