Good Evening Everyone, After about a month away from flying OFF it felt VERY good to be back in my trusty Camel. Work and family have not allowed me much free time the last four weeks, and what little I had I gave to trying my hand at learning the IL2 sim, (in preparation for the "Canvas Knights" release scheduled this fall). I will say that the graphics are quite nice and the animated water is amazing, but I just can't get all that excited about the WW2 aircraft, (although the PBN is rather fun to fly around the Pacific Islands). That being said, BHaH is still the cat's meow in the WW1 combat flight sim genre. And from the looks of all the glitches in RoF I have a hunch it will stay that way for a while. Alrighty then, I'm off to battle a few more DR1's before bed. Cheers! Lou

Dutch, I installed XP Pro 64 when I built my new flying computer and it has been great. Lightning fast and tons of memory access. No issues and no problems finding every driver I have needed. Glad you enjoyed the mission Ras. I have yet to be successful with it myself, and tend to be content just making it to the field in Italy in one piece. Great screenshot BTW, and that radar can be photo shopped away you know. Cheers! Lou

There is a small old family cemetery about 1/4 mile from my home, and nearly every Memorial Day for the last 25 years we would walk over with the kids and clear off the few plots that are there and place wild flowers on them. One of the graves is of a WW1 soilder who, from the date on the stone, must have died "over there". I would often stand and give him a salute, one soldier to another. My youngest daughter will now be going off to college this fall, but last night as she was heading out the door to a party she said, "Are you going over to the cemetery tomorrow, because I'd like to come with you." It brought a tear to my eye. A safe, meaningful, and blessed Memorial Day to you all. Salute! Lou

Yes indeed, the Schwarzlose gun mounted inside the housing on top of the wing to fire over the prop arc. One gawd aweful design as it allowed no way of clearing a jamb until after you landed and crawled up on top to undo the whole mess. Still, they built over 150 of these birds and there were actually a couple of Austrian aces that were fond of them. Cheers! Lou

Yuppers Flyby, that's it exactly! Four little cups that catch the wind and spin as the plane moves through the air, which gives you a reading on the dial just below them facing the pilot. Simple and relatively accurate. Cheers! Lou

Stumpjumper, those are SWEET! I look forward to loading them all up and trying them out. Red-Dog, you are quite right Sir, the Alsace is beautiful indeed. BTW, if you would like to take in a lot of the mountain scenery, I have posted another BHaH mission in the downloads section. It is a long-range bombing mission of a zep base I discovered way off in the Alps. Really, I was just flying around in the Hun back regions of the Alsace one morning and there it was down along the Swiss Alps, (tip of the hat again to the OFF developers for surprises such as this). French High Command has ordered Escadrille SOP.5 to fly their Strutters deep into enemy territory and bomb a German zeppelin base located in the northern Alps. You will leave shortly before sunrise and use the pre-dawn darkness to cross the front. Get as much altitude as you can, and don't forget to lean your mixture to conserve fuel. Due to the strong seasonal winds blowing towards the east and the length of your flight, you will not be able to return to your home aerodrome but instead will fly south from the target, up over the mountains, and land at an airfield in Italy. It is advised that you keep your altitude and bomb from 2,500 meters, the height of the mountains along the valley and the enemy's defenses could prove to trap you otherwise. Be aware that you may encounter German 2-seaters along the way, as the target base is also used to launch air strikes into northern Italy. Do your best, the eyes of France are upon you. Good for you Widowmaker! I have been plunking away at the guitar for quite some time, and find it very relaxing and fun. I've done some songs at social events and retreats, and a few years back I performed John McCutcheon's "Christmas in the Trenches" for a candlelight contemporary service at our church. WF2, very cool as well that you play violin and viola. And thanks for the links to the music, I am listening to it right now. Cheers! Lou
