I always choose a TAC setup of 4 miles, and once the last white blip disappears at one edge, I can warp shortly after that. So it may be four miles.

Vicefelwebel ranking above Feldwebel?
Olham replied to Hermann the Hun's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
My personal guess to all this: Nowadays, we have the ranks Unteroffizier, Feldwebel, Oberfeldwebel and Hauptfeldwebel for non-commissioned officers. But if you have A-level and are aiming for becoming an officer, then you don't become a Feldwebel, but a Fahnenjunker or Fähnrich (don't know exactly which of the two). That would be ranking like Feldwebel, but is only for those on the way to be an officer. could it be, that Vizefeldwebel was exactly that? The rank like Feldwebel, but only for those, who would become a Leutnant? I think so. -
Guys, I wish you all a healthy and happy new year 2010 from Ostfriesland in the snow. My brother-in-law has a computer and switched it on for me - god, how I miss you all! Just checked the latest screenshots - thank you devs! Really looking forward to P4! And to flying OFF - on 4 January, I'll be back in Berlin; see you all then!

Vicefelwebel ranking above Feldwebel?
Olham replied to Hermann the Hun's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
According to this chart, the Vizefeldwebel was ranking below the Feldwebel (as one would assume from the rank name). It looks like a Vizefeldwebel would have got the (almost) same rank as the Feldwebel, when he had the position of an "Offizierstellvertreter". http://www.agw14-18....ienstgrade.html "Offizierstellvertreter" seems to mean the highest available rank below an officer, which normally would have been a Feldwebel. But a Vizefeldwebel could be given that position "to replace an officer" - a "deputy officer" so to say. So again, "Offizierstellvertreter was no specific rank by it's own, but an addition to an available rank for that position. -

A merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thank you all, guys! Now it's 00:18 h Berlin time, and in eleven-and-a-half hours, I will hopefully be on the train to Ostfriesland. I say "hopefully", because the German railway - Die Bahn - seems to be totally surprised and deeply shocked about - winter! God, it's almost a year ago we had it, and so they must have forgotten, that winter would come back! If my train will go off at all, I may still have to calculate 1 - 2 hours delay. Merry Christmas! -
Hmmmm - Christmas cookie! Crunch! Grmpf!! Crumb!! Crunch!!! Cookies! I like coooookieeees! Did you Americans know, that the German television bought the "Sesame Street" series? Later, they banned Oscar (the monster in the dustbin - was his name Oscar in the US?) from it, cause they found he was too destructive or to negatively unpolite. Reminds me of someone - but I found it a pity; I loved the frank monster Oscar. One scene I still remember, BigBird and Suzanne brought him a knitted yellow wool cap for his birthday. So they knocked at his bin. First he did was complaining, who made all that noise. Then, when he had got the cap, he complained: "Argh! It's totally new - and so terribly clean! I'll have to pour half a gallon of waste oil over it, before I could like it!" As I said - reminds me of someone.

Vicefelwebel ranking above Feldwebel?

The "Warrant Officer" was in the army of the Kaiserreich the "Feldwebelleutnant"; he was a non-commissioned officer with lanyard, who got promoted after long service time to Feldwebelleutnant, which was almost the same rank as a Leutnant, but still slightly below Leutnant, because he did not have the officer's patent. I just found this excerpt from a companie in WW1, which seems to show, that "Offizierstellvertreter" was not a military rank, but a position given to a non-commisioned officer with lanyard. Here in this example are four Vizefeldwebel, who were also "Offizierstellvertreter"; directly translated, it means "someone to replace an officer's position". 11. Kompagnie: Hauptmann Sieveking, Oberleutnant d. R. Rissom (gefallen), Leutnant d. L. Kreipe, Offizierstellvertreter Vizefeldwebel Trettin, Offizierstellvertreter Vizefeldwebel Heberling (gefallen). 12. Kompagnie: Hauptmann d. R. Orth, Leutnant d. R. Stüve, Leutnant d. L. Kahle, Offizierstellvertreter Vizefeldwebel Rose, Offizierstellvertreter Vizefeldwebel Eckstein. -
You will surely never get accused for charming anyone, UncleAl. And JFM is right there - you acted against your own principles. I remember you helped me, when I was a newbie in the old OFF Forum, so I can't say anything you'd deserve now. The question was not at all stupid - as you may see from Winder's answer. But perhaps we better change the subject now - I don't want you getting banned again, so short before Xmas.

Yeah, I checked other sites, and you seem to be right - at least compared with today's army ranks. -

Then it can't be a Pour-le-Merite - no gemstones on that order. -
There is a lot of damage simulated in OFF, be sure, Wodin. Just see through the "Screenshots" thread. Go to "Workshops" and check, if you have skin resolution on "highest" (or however it's called) - then you don't see all damage. Set that on the medium (normal?) setting.

Vicefelwebel ranking above Feldwebel?
Olham replied to Hermann the Hun's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
There is a Wikipedia page which seems quite detailed about this question - unfortunately it is only available in German. Here is the link: http://de.wikipedia...._Kaiserreich%29 And yes - the Vizefeldwebel was ranking below the Feldwebel (as you can see there). I can only attempt to translate the ranks - one is never quite sure about English or American ranking details. Portepee = lanyard Unteroffizier - corporal Sergeant - sergeant Fähnrich - ensign Vizefeldwebel - (?) Feldwebel - staff sergeant Offizierstellvertreter - first sergeant / master sergeant ? Feldwebelleutnant - second lieutenant Leutnant - first lieutenant Oberleutnant - senior lieutenant Hauptmann / Rittmeister - captain Major - major Oberstleutnant - lieutenant colonel Oberst - colonel -
Will try it next year, HPW! Sounds terrible, doesn't it - next year - but there's only 11 days left of 2010, and I'm packing my bags to travel to Ostfriesland. To be honest - I'd prefer to test it over Xmas - but family duties are stronger.

Even 10 % is not necessary my way, UncleAl. Throttle "idle" should be zero.
-
Restart with magneto would be much too slow, I think. My method should work, as the throttle has many number steps inbetween "full" and "idle", which you would all drop. It should be totally down at once, without the slider.
-
As far as I understand, the blip switch switches between "throttle full" and "throttle idle" ? In that case you can just set those two commands in "Controls" on buttons on your stick; drop using the throttle slider, and use those two buttons instead.

Wow - look at the new decals for the Albatros!!! And then they have built a ROLAND D.VIa !!! Oh, if we could have those in OFF (hint, hint!) The new photographs for the Roland and Albatros are great to see.

Wodin, I'm just wondering if you are in our OFF Forum Pilots Maps already or not? If you PM me your home town and country/state, I'll add you in.

Indeed - that sausage should be safe for Christmas. Lou and everyone here - Frohe Weihnachten und einen guten Rutsch in ein gesundes und glückliches neues Jahr 2011! (And now get your dictionaries out, boys) -
Shredder, being an Ostfriese from the salty marshes by the North Sea, for me mountains are rather something to look at from a safe distance. I was never one for climbing around on them - going up, just for coming down again? I have that in OFF. (But yeah - beautiful they are!) TaillyHo - I suppose that's what they call "global village"? Merry Christmas to you both!

When a butterfly in China flaps with it's wings...

Okay, I'll try to remember that. I seem not to be the only one who didn't remember that. -
After reading the passage about Voss' last fight in Peter Kilduff's book "The Red Baron", I went searching through the trench maps and found Plum Fm north of Frezenberg. I made this map in Photoshop.

One tip - make sure your AV program is set to use the game mode (that means, when you run something full screen - which means any game - your AV won't try to update, and won't do other performance-hungry things). Is game booster a program, that really does improve gaming performance?

Another sortie with Jasta 2 - September 1916 is still almost quiet compared to the same time 1917.
