Sinbad and I have just uploaded more skins for the Eastern Front. New skins and some data tweaks for Laton's - MS Type L, MS type H, and Pfalz E.III. We've made new loadouts for the Type L and E.III which racks the bombs along the fuselage next to the cockpit. We've also made an unarmed version of the Type L. All the planes have new ini files to update the way shadows are generated, and new Hanger and Loading screens. I THINK this is the last upload for the Eastern Front. We are beta testing the campaigns now (there are 3 of them) and I should be uploading the campaigns in a few days.

You must have Laton's planes in order for these to work. This download includes - skins for the Eastern front for all the planes - new loadouts, which place the bombs alongside the fuselage for the MS Type L and the Pfalz E.III - a new unarmed version of the MS Type L - new ini files for all the planes which update the way shadows are generated - and new Loading and Hanger screens for all the planes. Installation instructions: If you haven't already, download and install the three planes from the CombatACE Download area. (The MS Type L and the Pfalz E.III are each part of a combo pack.) After the planes are installed, make a copy of the entire "MSTypeL" folder and rename it "MSTypeL_Recon". You will be installing new ini files for this folder later. My install will replace some of the original files - you might want to make backups before you proceed. I have made some Russian skins for several of the Nieuports - 3 skins for Monty CZ's N11 and 2 for his N17 - 3 skins for EmID's N24 - and 4 skins for my own N12. With whiteknight06604's 3 pack for the N10, and Monty CZ's Russian skin for the N11, we now have a pretty good fleet of Russian Nieuports. All of my skins are pretty simple, I didn't go into a lot of detail. Mostly I reworked Monty CZ's and EmID's original skins and added the decals I had already made for my other planes. If anyone wants to improve them, please do. My thanks to Monty CZ and EmID for their permissions.

I realize that this is kind of late and I should have asked sooner:
I am working on an Eastern Front and I have uploaded some Russian skins for your Nieuport 11 and Nieuport 17. These skins are based on your originals, but with decals for the Russians.
Do you have any objections to this? I apologize for not contacting you sooner.

The gunner of the Vickers FB5 should be tweaked
Stephen1918 replied to Hansa's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
You could also try extending the gunner's range (in the [Crew] data.) The AI gunner doesn't seem to "see" anything that's out of his range, so he'll turn away from a plane that's perfectly visible to you. Of course, he will use up ammo faster if he's shooting at planes that are too far away. Find a good balance. -

View File Eastern Front - Skins for 3 of Bortdafarm's planes A set of skins and some file tweaks for Bortdafarm's OefAlbatrosDII, HalberstadtDII, and Farman MF11c. You must have Bortdafarm's planes in order for these to work. For the Albatros DII, I have made three skins, one plain linen and two camo schemes. I have also included a new ini file which updates the way shadows are generated. Some of the parts were almost impossible to skin, so I have made decals to cover the entire part. It's kind of a clunky way to work, but the results are pretty good. (Note - The Albatros DII had a wooden stabilizer at the tail, I could not get the wood to look right, so used linen instead.) For the Halberstadt DII, I have made a green/mauve camo scheme. This plane also required decals to cover some of the parts. And this one also has a new ini file to change the shadows. For the Farman MF11c, I have made a new linen skin with a set of decals for the Russians. I have included Peter01's FM, which I have modded to take an external bomb load. Bortdafarm made several versions of each of his planes, I haven't tested them, but I think these skins will work with some the other versions. Installation instructions: If you haven't already, download and install the three planes from the CombatACE Download area. I have uploaded some things for the Eastern Front. I have a set of Russian skins for the SPADs that came with First Eagles. And I made some Russian balloons. And (still waiting for administrator approval) I have made some skins and file tweaks for three of Bortdafarm's planes. I have similar file sets coming for some of the other planes. As I work on the Eastern Front, I was getting irritated that First Eagles assumes everything is on the Western Front. In the maps, my Russian and Austro-Hungarian units were always showing up as French and German. So I made a set of icons for the Planning Map which shows the correct nationality for all units. This will work on all the fronts, but you won't see a lot of difference on the stock campaigns. Here's a preview of the Eastern Front and some of my new skins.

View File Eastern Front - Skins for Stock Planes This is a few skins for the Eastern Front - I have included two balloons for the Russians, based on the two balloons that come with First Eagles. And I have made three skins each for the stock SPAD 7 and the SPAD 13. The Caquot style balloon was pretty common in WWI so I made one for the Russians. The kite style balloon (the "Drachen" balloon in the game) was also a common balloon and the Russians purchased several of them from the Parseval-Siegsfeld Company in Germany before the war. The plane skins are a slight rework of the stock tan skins, most of the change is in the decal placements. I have included decals for some of the Russian squadrons, and I eliminated squadron markings and flight numbers. (One of the SPAD 7 skins uses the SPAD 13 serial numbers because I couldn't find the SPAD 7 numbers in FE Gold.) The plane skins should work with any of the modded SPADs that use the stock LODs from First Eagles. The actual skins for each plane are the same, so to save download time, I only included one set with each plane. You will have to copy the 6 bmp files and paste them into the other two folders for each plane. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 07/23/2012 Category Other Entente Aircraft Skins

View File Planning Map Icons This is a set of icons which will enhance the mission planning map (the one you see in the Hanger Screen, not the one you see during the mission.) This works best in campaigns - With these installed, you will see the correct roundels for all planes in the air and flags identifying the ground units. These icons also work in single missions, although ground units won't show up. Historical Notes - To distinguish between German and Austrian planes, I added red stripes to the Austrian icon. During the war, Austrian, Bulgarian, and German planes all used similar markings. I also included a roundel for Serbia, which is identical to the US roundel. During the war, Serbians mostly flew French planes without changing the markings. Installation instructions: You will need to extract and change the PlanningMapScreen.INI which is in the MenuData.cat file. Detailed instructions are included in the Read Me file. Infantry units, tanks, and armored cars will show up as targets in Army Co-operation missions. The game will randomly assign some friendly and enemy units in the target area. Trucks usually show up as targets in Armed Recon missions. There are some trucks placed on the airfields, but these are static objects placed in the Targets.ini. AAA guns are assigned by the game in locations determined by the Target.ini. If you place everything in the GroundObject folder, they should show up randomly during the game. Inside the data.ini for each object there is an "Availability" setting which determines how often the game assigns them. You can try making some of the ground objects "Very_Common" to make them show up more often.

I've had A LOT of requests for planes since I posted the B.I! I like the early planes too and I will make more eventually. Right now I'm working on an Eastern Front campaign and all my free time will be devoted to that for the near future. I'll get back to planes after that.

View File SPAD A.2 The much maligned SPAD A.2 was not nearly as dangerous as some people believe. It was actually a good idea in the days before the synchronized gun was perfected, and continued to be used on the Eastern Front throughout the war. There are skins for 3 Russian variations, and a skin for the French. I have included my templates and serial numbers for some of the skins, which will be applied randomly. Historical Notes: The serial numbers are fictitious. Credits: My thanks once again to Ojcar for making the excellent data.INI file for this plane. My thanks to Nix for providing the engine sound for the LeRhone engine Thanks also to Sinbad and Whiteknight06604 who provided resources for the SPAD A.2 and for the Colt-Browning machine gun.
