The Airco DH9 was introduced early in 1918 as an intended replacement for the DH4. The pilot was seated closer to the gunner in the DH9 and an internal bomb compartment was provided. However, because of the DH9's low performance and unreliable engine, the DH4 remained the better bomber until the DH9a was introduced a few months later. Nevertheless, the DH9 did operate with better success on the Eastern and Palestinian fronts where it faced fewer enemy fighters. I have included two skins, a brown and an olive color. Both use the letter decals that come with First Eagles (which you can set in the loadout screen) and I have included a set of serial numbers which will be applied randomly. There are also loadouts for light, medium, and heavy bomb loads. The skins are rather generic, I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make better skins. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for once again making an excellent data file for the DH9. My thanks also to Sinbad for providing a great deal of resource information for this plane. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AircoDH9" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AircoDH9" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "AircoDH9". Move the folder named "D" from the Airplanes/AircoDH9 folder into the Decals/AircoDH9 folder you just made. April 5, 2012 - Replaced data file with new version to fix problem with take offs and landings and to make the plane fly better.
  2. Trotski00 and I have been exchanging messages for about a week. I've been trying to coach him through adding grenades to the AnatraDS. I even made a new _data.ini with weapons stations, a _loadout.in, and a new ini file for the plane. I'm wondering if his version is heavily modded and if that's somehow causing the problem he's having. I have attached a zip file with the files I made. Can somebody try these out on their computer and see if they work? They work fine on my FE1. Your help would be appreciated. AnatraGrenades.zip
  3. These are beautiful skins. I look forward to flying them.
  4. Does it always happen to the same tiles or does it move around? I don't have a very powerful computer and I have noticed something like from time to time, especially when I'm using High graphics mode. The tiles have a flat blue for the water, and the game applies another texture on top of the water. You're seeing a place where the texture is missing and only the tile material is showing. In addition to this, I'll sometimes see that very distant buildings will be white, and then show the correct colors as you get closer. I'm assuming that it's a memory or processor speed issue.
  5. 33LIMA - I really enjoy your action reports. They bring the game to life for me and I'm always inspired to fly another mission or two. Ojcar - Thanks for Armchair Aces, I find myself flying the missions instead of doing other things, like making new airplanes... :) I'm looking forward to future installments.
  6. View File Rumpler C.I The Rumpler C.I was a general purpose two-seat plane first produced in 1915. It was used on all fronts and served throughout the war. My model is armed with a Parabellum machine gun on a Schneider Ring in the rear cockpit along with a synchronized Spandau mounted on the left side the engine. I have included two loadouts, one for eight 11 kilo bombs carried under the wings, and another for two 50 kilo bombs carried under the fuselage. I have also included three skinning options - A plain linen and a light blue paint representing early models, and a green/mauve camouflage for later in the war. I have included my templates for those who want to make additional skins. This plane uses the national markings that come with First Eagles, so you can change nationalities to fly for Austria, Bulgaria or the Turks. I have included decals for serial numbers and, on the linen and light blue skins, for flight letters. You can choose the letter in the loadout screen. The numbers will be applied randomly. Historical Notes: The serial numbers are fictitious, but in the correct range for the Rumpler C.I. I don't know if the flight letters are realistic. The plane looked too naked, and I saw one photo of a Rumpler with a letter "J" on the side, so I allowed my imagination to take over. Credits: My thanks again to Ojcar for making the excellent FM file for this plane. Also, my thanks to Nix for making the realistic engine sound file for the Mercedes 6 cylinder engine. (This is the same sound file used with the Albatros C.III so you may already have it.) Installation instructions: For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "RumplerC1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2: Unzip the file and move the folder named "RumplerC1" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "RumplerC1". Move the folder named "D" from your Airplanes/RumplerC1 folder into the Decals/RumplerC1 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 03/13/2012 Category Other Central Powers Aircraft
  7. I have uploaded a new version of the Albatros C.III. It's waiting for administrative review. While working on the Rumpler, ojcar made some changes to the Albatros C.III FM. The new FM is a little slower, but the plane climbs a little better and is harder to stall. With the new FM, this plane is now friendlier when flying in hard mode. I also made some very minor changes to the skins, I mostly just toned down the green, which I think was a little too bright.
  8. I've uploaded the Rumpler C.I , it's awaiting administrative review. This plane was used on all the fronts for most of the war. The download includes two skins, one for the early years and one for later. It also includes two loadouts for bombs. Ojcar has made a great FM for the Rumpler, it bogs down a little when carrying bombs (it had a 160hp engine) but performs very well as a recon/fighter. I have also included a sound file, made by Nix, for the 160hp Mercedes engine. My thanks to Ojcar and Nix for their help.

  10. I have a Rumpler C.I almost finished. And I have a DH9 started. I'll also do a DH9a and DH4 since the only difference from the 9 is the fuselage. I have about 12 other planes on my list of requests. I'll get to them all when I can. So many planes...
  11. Another great set of missions! I admire the amount of work you've done to make these.
  12. Both sets are beautiful. Thanks for these.
  13. Great work ojcar! I love the idea of a series of missions over a length of time.
  14. I have uploaded a Vickers FB5 Gunbus. It includes a standard linen skin and a set of decals for the early British flag markings as well as a complete set of serial numbers. My thanks to ojcar for making the FM. This plane was underpowered, but is quite maneuverable and fun to fly.
  15. View File Vickers FB5 "Gunbus" The Vickers FB5 was the first British plane designed specifically as a fighter. It was nicknamed the "Gunbus" because the pusher style aircraft had a factory installed machine gun mounted in the front, giving the gunner a wide angle of fire. Although underpowered for its size, the large tail surfaces made it quite maneuverable. The Gunbus was an effective fighter for its time and was used to create the first fighter squadron, the RFC No. 11 Squadron. The Vickers FB5 was quickly outclassed and replaced by other fighters but it made a lasting impression on pilots. I have included two skins with decal ini's for both the Standard Linen used by Britain and France, as well as an early British skin with flags instead of roundels. I have also included a set of serial numbers which will be applied randomly. I have included my skinning templates for the plane and the cockpit. Historical Notes The serial numbers are fictitious, but in the correct range for most FB5s. Details of the instrument panel are mostly conjecture. Several kinds of gun mounts were used on the Gunbus, most of them required considerable upper body motion for the gunner. In First Eagles, it is not possible to animate the gunner, so my gun mount is fictitious, but at least allows the gunner some freedom of movement. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for once again making an excellent data file for the Vickers Gunbus. My thanks to Nix for providing the sound for the Gnome engine Version 2 - Ojcar has created a new FM which improves the fighting performance of the AI. A fake machine gun has been added which causes the pilot of AI planes to be more active in pursuing enemy aircraft. Installation instructions for the new gun are in a separate file. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "VickersFB5" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. You also need to move the sound file "gnome80m4.wav" into your FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "VickersFB5" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "VickersFB5". Move the folder named "D" from the Airplanes/VickersFB5 folder into the Decals/VickersFB5 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "gnome80m4.wav" into your FirstEagles/Sounds folder. To install the fake machine gun, follow the instructions in the file named "InstructionsForInstallingGuns". 17. 33LIMA - The dust emitter is in the [MovementSystem] section of the data file for each unit. try deleting the emitter in the line "MovementEmitterName=" and see if that helps. I could make a version with four man squads if that would help. Let me know.
  18. I have uploaded some new infantry units for First Eagles, which includes a dust effect for when they're moving and a gunshot sound for their rifles. I've included Peter01's gundata for their rifles, modified to use my sound effect. They are in five man squads and are all identical except for their helmets and uniform colors. There are infantry for: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, America, Russia, Australia, and Turkey. You can load them individually if you don't need them all. I've included instructions for installing the guns and sounds. Thanks to Heck and Geo for leading the way!
  19. View File Infantry Units I have created 10 new infantry units for First Eagles. They are all pretty much identical except for their helmets and uniform colors. Each unit is a five man squad (three riflemen and two runners.) The units will move around and the riflemen will aim and fire independently. I have created a dust effect for when they are moving and I've created a gunshot sound for their rifles. The rifles are based on Peter01's rifle data, with my sound effect and a few other minor changes. All the Entente units use the Lee Enfield rifle, and all the Central units use the Mauser. This download includes infantry units for: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Russia, America, Australia, and Turkey. I couldn't bring myself to kill the poor guys, so they just disappear when they get shot. Credits My thanks to Heck and Geo for leading the way! Thanks also to Peter01 for his original rifle data files. Installation Instructions Unzip the file and copy the units you want from my GroundObjects folder into your FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObjects folder. Copy the sound file "InfantryRifle.wav" from my Sounds folder into your FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Copy the dust effect "RunningInfantryEmitter.ini" from my Effects folder into your FirstEagles/Effects folder. Follow the instructions for installing the guns and sound in the two other instruction files included with the download. 21. Thanks guys. I made the Ehrhardt and Putilov for Lemberg because tanks weren't very common on the Eastern Front. Then I made a few more to use on some of the other fronts. I didn't spend too much time on the data files, I was mostly concerned with making them move at a reasonable speed, and rotate their turrets and fire their guns in a reasonable way. Feel free to tweak them if you want. I've learned a lot about skinning and rigging, now I'm going back to making airplanes.
  22. I have uploaded a set of five armored cars for First Eagles. These will show up in place of tanks for Army Co-operation missions during the early years of the war, and for nations that did not have tanks. The data file is a combination of the truck and tank data files, and I have included a destroyed version and played with the data so they explode and burn pretty well. I have not tested this in FE2, but I believe it will work OK. Please post to let me know if you have problems with installation or game play in FE2.
  23. View File Armored Cars Tanks did not appear on the battlefield until mid 1917 and were used mostly on the Western Front. But cars and trucks with steel plating and machine guns were used from the beginning of the war and were used in large numbers on all fronts. I have made a set of five armored cars which can be used to replace the tanks in Army Co-operation missions. The tanks in First Eagles have a start date of 5/1917, these armored cars have a start date of 5/1914, so they will automatically replace the tanks in missions dated 1916 or before. This download includes: A British Rolls Royce, built on a Silver Ghost car chassis and armed with a Vickers Machine Gun in the turret. If you've seen the movie "Lawrence of Arabia," this is the car they used in some of the battle sequences. A German Ehrhardt, with two Maxim Machine Guns in the turret. These were used mostly on the Eastern Front. A French Peugeot, with a Hotchkiss Machine Gun in the Turret. Peugeots didn't have turrets until very late in the war, but I thought this looked better than an open truck, and it was easier to build. An Italian Lancia, with two Fiat-Revelli Machine Guns in the turret. The rails on the front were for ripping up barbed wire. A Russian Putilov, built on a British Austin truck chassis, with Vickers Machine Guns in two turrets. The steel trough around the gun and the multiple turrets are fairly typical of Russian armored vehicles. I have included destroyed versions of all the trucks. They explode and burn quite nicely. Installation Instructions Unzip the file and drag the five armored car folders and the file named "DestroyedArmoredCar.bmp" into your FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObject folder. All the destroyed vehicles use the same skin and the BMP file must be in root level of the GroundObject folder. 25. I only have FEG, so I won't be able to use the Palestine terrain unless someone can downgrade it. But I will still help when I can. I've been planning on making a Rumpler CI and I have all the resources gathered, A DH9 has also been requested and I'm researching it. I'll start with those two. I don't know if you've seen this site yet: http://www.tayyareci.com/digerucaklar/turkiye/ww1.asp It lists all the aircraft used by the Ottoman Empire in WWI, including captured planes, and includes some information about how they were deployed.
