  1. View File Albatros D.II - 2 pack Note - This is a complete revision with new LODs, new skins, and new hangar and loading screens. I recommend you delete the older version and replace it with this one. The Albatros D.II was identical to the D.I, except that the top wing was mounted lower and farther forward to improve visibility. The fuselage, engine, and guns were the same. Early models had two radiators low on either side of the fuselage, later models had the radiator mounted in the upper wing. I have created both versions of the D.II. I put both radiators on the skins so the same skin can be used for both versions. The download includes two skins, a light camo and a dark camo, and a full set of personal markings for each plane. I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make different skins. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Albatros D.II. My thanks also to Nix for making the sound file for the Mercedes 160hp engine. Installation Instructions The two versions can be installed separately or both together. For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late". Move the folders named "D" from the Aircraft/AlbatrosD2 folders into the corresponding Decals/AlbatrosD2 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 11/05/2012 Category Albatros

  3. Geezer, Your models are great. It would be great to see some of them uploaded for First Eagles. The MS BB looks like it would be a fun plane to fly, and the machine gunners would be good to have too. Did you figure out how to post pictures in the Forum? At the bottom of the screen there's a button for "More Reply Options." That screen has a way to attach images.
  4. I'm planning on both an early Albatros D.II with the radiators on the side of the fuselage and a later version with the radiator in the upper wing. It's going to take me quite a while to finish these, I got a promotion and real life has been a lot busier than it was. But I am working on FE projects when I can...
  5. Gepard, The Baltic terrain would be a great addition to FE. There was a German offensive in that area in late 1917, so it could be the basis of a second eastern front. And it was the scene of fighting during the Russian Civil Wars, so it could be used there too.
  6. No, I'm not planning to make any other ground objects in the near future. I need to get back to planes. I'm working on an Albatros D.II and a Fokker D.II. And I'm correcting some mistakes in the Eastern Front campaign.
  7. I've been working (slowly) on the Eastern Front campaign. I made some field artillery for the Russians and Austrians. Then I made some for the other forces as well. I have uploaded 8 field guns, which are based pretty heavily on the AA guns I made last summer. Each has a two man crew and is positioned behind a log and earth barricade. There are guns for - Austria, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, Britain, America, and Turkey. The guns act like tanks (with no movement) so they should show up in Army Co-operation missions. They can also be placed manually into campaigns and into the Target.ini of terrains.
  8. View File Field Guns for First Eagles In World War I, field guns were light artillery weapons used for infantry support on the battlefield. The barrel could be elevated using a mechanism on the carriage, but the entire gun had to be turned to aim it. I have created eight new field guns for First Eagles, each with a two man crew behind a small log and earth barricade. This download includes - a Russian Putilov 76.2mm, and Austrian Krupp 77mm, A German Krupp 77mm, an Italian Déport 77mm, a French 75mm, a British 75mm, an American 75mm, and a Turkish Krupp 77mm. The field guns take the role of Tank in First Eagles so they will appear on the battlefield during Army Co-operation missions. All the guns use the stock 75mm gun data from First Eagles. Installation Instructions You can install the guns individually or all at once. Unzip the file and move the folders you want into the FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObjects folder. Destroyed versions of all the guns use the same skin as the AAA guns. If you don't already have it, you must also copy the file "DestroyedAAA.bmp" into the FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObjects folder. The file must be placed in root level of the GroundObjects folder (not inside any other folders.) Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 10/23/2012 Category First Eagles - WWI and Early Years - Object Mods

  10. Nice work Quack! I look forward to using these.
  11. I've been thinking of the post WWI fighting. Two of my planes have skins for two of the nations that emerged from WWI. The Anatra C.I has a Yugoslav skin, and the Lloyd C.II has an early Polish skin. I started making insignia decals for Ukraine, Lithuania, and Czechoslovakia, but I didn't do much with them. After WWI, a lot of the early planes were put back into service, so you see the early C series of planes coming back. And the Allies sent planes to the new nations in eastern Europe, so you see Ansaldos, Fokkers, and Camels fighting each other. It would be interesting to have some post war campaigns.
  12. These skins look great! I'll try the custom graphics settings.
  13. Gambit, I prefer decals myself because I run in medium graphics mode most of the time, and the decals look better. But I agree, setting the decals is a LOT of trial and error. You are welcome to use the tail numbers. You can even copy them into your skin if you want so people who don't have my plane will still be able to use them.
  14. Very nice! My Nieuports and Voisins have decals named "ItalianRed" and "ItalianGreen" which are red and green patches that match the game's decal colors. You are welcome to use those for the underwing tricolor markings.
  15. View File Pfalz A.II conversion for Laton's E.III A set of skins and some file tweaks to convert Laton's Pfalz E.III into an A.II You must have Laton's plane in order for this to work. The Pfalz A.II was identical to the E.III, except that the A.II was unarmed. I have removed the gun and Loadouts from the E.III data file, changed the way shadows are generated in the ini file, and created two new skins for the plane. There is a German skin, with a stripe around the fuselage, and an Austrian skin with red bars on the wingtips and fuselage. The original skins will still work with my conversion. I also made a new hangar screen to display the plane's new name. Everything else is the same as in Laton's original. Installation instructions: If you haven't already, download and install Laton's Pfalz E.III pack from the CombatACE Download area. My install is only for the E.III and will replace some of the original files - you might want to make backups before you proceed. For FE1 - In your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder, make a copy of the PfalzEIII folder and name it "PfalzAII." Copy all the files from my "PfalzAII" folder into your "PfalzAII" folder. Click "Yes" if it asks if you want to replace an existing file. You can delete the PfalzEIII.ini, PfalzEIII_data.ini, PfalzE.III_Loadout.ini, and PfalzEIII_Hangar.bmp files. All the other files are needed for the conversion. For FE2 - In your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder, make a copy of the PfalzEIII folder and name it "PfalzAII." Copy all the files from my "PfalzAII" folder into your "PfalzAII" folder. Click "Yes" if it asks if you want to replace an existing file. You can delete the PfalzEIII.ini, PfalzEIII_data.ini, PfalzE.IIILoadout.ini, and PfalzEIII_Hangar.bmp files. All the other files are needed for the conversion. Next, in your FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, make a new folder named "PfalzAII". Move the folder named "D" from your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft/PfalzAII folder into the FirstEagles/Decals/Aircraft/PfalzAII folder you just made. 17. Welcome Andy73! I've downloaded some of your sounds (I didn't think about OFF sounds being used in FE until I saw Panama Red's post.) I'm looking forward to seeing your efforts here in First Eagles.
  18. Very nice work Quack! Your skins add a huge amount of detail to the models. I like how you got all the hexes to line up across the parts.
  19. Thanks for all your help, Nix. I hope you'll drop in from time to time to give us your comments, and maybe come back to modding for First Eagles someday.
  20. Great screen shots! And an excellent story. I've always enjoyed your "mission report" posts.
  21. Nice. I usually prefer decals because they look better in medium graphics mode, and I can increase the frame rate a little.
  22. I like the new SPADs, they seem to work OK in FE1. The bump files and the userlist don't seem to be used, but FE1 just ignores them. I also like the skins for Strutter and the Morane N. The eastern front is getting more active!
  23. I have uploaded the campaigns for the Eastern Front. There are three campaigns and it requires a lot of downloads - about 30 planes plus skins and ground objects. Hopefully, you have a lot of it already. Installation instructions are included in the download. This was made on FE1. Sinbad and quack74 helped with the testing on FE2 and I have some notes for converting to FE2. The biggest issue is names of planes and installing the decals, especially for some of the planes that were made a few years ago. Sinbad and I have made new versions of the SPAD 7 especially for this campaign, they are included in the download. My thanks to ojcar, sinbad, quack74, whiteknight 06604, and everyone else who helped and/or contributed.
  24. The Eastern Front View File Fighting on the Eastern Front in World War I was much different from the fighting in the west. The Eastern Front was much longer, troops were spread out more, and there were fewer roads and villages than in northern France and Belgium. The front moved back and forth more quickly and more often in Eastern Europe. In the air, recon, artillery spotting, and ground attack missions were the most common. There weren't as many dogfights, and squadrons rarely went hunting for enemy planes. The purpose of my campaigns is to capture a sense of the war on the Eastern Front. I am not trying to re-enact any particular battles. I'm just trying to create the correct mix of planes and missions to approximate the way the war was fought. This download consists of three campaigns in the Austro-Hungarian province of Galicia, near the Russian Ukraine. 1915, takes place in the late spring and roughly corresponds to the German/Austrian Gorlice-Tarnow Offensive in which the Central Powers took back the land they had lost at the start of the war. (Austria on the offensive.) 1916, takes place in the summer and roughly corresponds to the Russian Brusilov Offensive in which Russian forces took back a lot of what they had lost in 1915. (Russia on the offensive.) 1917, takes place in the fall, after the Kerensky offensive and before the October Revolution and represents the closing months of the war in the east. Notes: Everything in these campaigns is available at the CombatAce site. Installation instructions are in a separate file. Please read the notes for special information about some of the planes. Credits: Many people have made this project possible. Some of them worked directly with me, and others have made things which found their way into this campaign. In particular, I wish to thank: ojcar for his continued support, for making all the FMs for all my planes, and for providing the inspiration for this project. sinbad, who made some planes and several skins for the Russian planes and who beta-tested the whole thing. quack74, for making skins, providing resource materials, and for beta testing the campaigns. whiteknight06604, for making skins and providing resource materials for the Eastern Front. Monty CZ and EmlD, for letting me make skins and mods for their planes. Laton, Bortdafarm, p10ppy, christian59, and geo for their planes and ground objects. von Deutschmark, gumpy, Saltfiskur, and gambit168 for their skins. Peter01 for his FMs. And thanks to everyone at Combat Ace for their support, suggestions, and inspiration. Changes in Version 2: I have corrected the way Squadrons are named and eliminated duplicates so all aircraft should display correctly in the menu screen. I have replaced some planes and included new planes, skins, and ground objects. I have adjusted all the Strategic Nodes to get ground units positioned correctly. There should be no more AA guns or troops inside buildings anymore. I have made changes to the mission parameters for many of the planes. I have made new start screens for the campaigns which display while the campaign is loading.
