  1. No system open to the public is completely safe, but CA has the advantage of having a tech-savvy owner (MK2) and an excellent, dedicated system administrator (Erik), so you can rest assured that all reasonable precautions are being taken.
  2. Also make sure DirectX is up to date.
  3. Here is what I've done so far. The pic below is actually a little out of date because I've added the Yugoslav air bases last night. I need to remove a few cities that are very close to the wall on the East side of the map, and reduce the number of Greek cities to help preserve my sanity.
  4. All of the games support TIR out of the box. No need to do any re-installation or modding to make it work. You will love the TIR.
  5. Thanks guys! Brain32, that did the trick! Thanks for the help--I don;t think I would have figured that out on my own. Now my cities should be flattened out. I'll inspect that in game and once its OK, go ahead and apply transitions and start laying rivers...
  6. So...... The question of the day is, once you've exported the height map to BMP and edited it PS, how do you save it to make it compatible with the terrain editor? Just saving it as a 24-bit bmp does not work. If I convert it back to Indexed Color and save it, the TE will sort of work with it, but a lot of information seems to be lost. Very strange.
  7. No, thats not the plan. SF2/VEI is the platform of the future.

    Go Atlantis !

The UK was on the verge of throwing its support behind the Confederacy until Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Since England had outlawed slavery long before, it became politically impossible for them to support the pro-slavery side in the conflict. Let's all be glad it turned out that way!

    Go Atlantis !

Yep, I always have to stop and watch it on TV when I can...always impressive. Hopefully this will all go well and be a final feather in the shuttle program's cap before they are retired next year.

    Hey

w00t! Good to see you! (Finally someone with a member number lower than mine!!!)
  11. Excellent point! Make sure that the installers are pointing to the correct folder for your NF install!
  12. OK, I'll do a clean install and check on this as soon as I can. Probably tomorrow. ;)
  13. Might try copying just the Su-17 (or Su-17M3, depending on which one is giving trouble) folder form the download into your aircraft folder...
  14. OK, it seemed like it would be a difficult task to accomplish...but I guess if you are practiced at it...
  15. I have a question. Perhaps someone more nautical-minded can educate me. First, look at this pic: This is a cargo ship. I assume it is at least somewhat representative of cargo ships as a group. As you can see, the distance from the surface of the ocean to the deck is considerable, with no ready means to scale it. My question is...how exactly to these Somali pirates threaten the ships? Do they threaten to shoot RPGs into the hull, or...?

Well, note that I'm not advocating abandoning all restrictions...the fact that we require a simple criminal background check (done electronically, usually only taking a few minutes to complete) is precisely what makes our system work so well--criminals can't pass the check, and thus can't buy firearms through legal channels. Because of that, the incidence of legally-purchased firearms being used to commit crimes is quite low (it does happen, often in domestic disputes). I am saying that further restrictions on law-abiding citizens will not have any effect on the incidence of guns being used to commit crimes, because the criminals are already getting their weapons through underground channels.
  17. Didn't he have a kid...and that was the last we saw of him?
  18. I agree with JM and Stick. Get a faster dual-core, and an nVidia card if ThirdWire games are your thing.
  19. I agree, try to reinstall...I have not seen this problem before.

This is the key to this argument. To give you some hard facts, here in Tennessee we had a law for several years (just repealed earlier this year) that required the purchasers of firearms to have their thumb prints taken and placed on file. While this law was in effect, over 2.5 million sets of prints were taken and filed. During this time, the TBI (state criminal investigation office) requested exactly one (1) set of prints as part of a criminal investigation. There are couple of conclusions that can be drawn from these facts. 1. People who purchase firearms through legal channels overwhelmingly do not use those firearms in the commission of crimes. 2. Criminals who employ firearms do not purchase their weapons through legal channels. Therefore, laws that restrict the ability of citizens to purchase firearms through legal channels will have no positive effect on the incidence of crime involving guns.
