  1. You know, maybe the main thing is mistakes. Does TK AI make mistakes? I suppose you have to play online against humanoid players to really see this in an opponent. I'm an offline guy only for now, but alot of FB/PF online players can play the biplanes and pwn the Luftjet players. Jarhead1:: ahem...post-modern. If they bring back modern planes like F-106 for USAF/NAVY I'll goto airshows again. If they want to get that off a carrier, they can bring back the the USS United States too.
  2. Typhoid:: I dunno T, you may be right, and I can understand your frustration. I am tempted to call the chemtrail people "tinfoil" but to be honest, I don't blame them. It compares to beliefs of all kinds through history. From what I've read, before hydroplaning turned from Tin into Gold, they used to call pilots names similar in spirit to "tinfoil" when the pilots ran out of wet runway and couldn't convince anybody they were standing on the brakes the whole rollout.
  3. Coop thanks for the info. I've never seen it so clear. Very interesting indeed.
  4. hehe sorry if my poast was a bit off topic. But, I got off on it being the first towering cumulus I've seen in any post-modern HUD footage, but then I watch very few of them. So it would be a good source to introduce the concept of clouds to The Sims developers --- but in another thread. Sorry fellas/fellattes. And thanks for the vid. Anyways. To be honest, nothing new here at all. A Skyraider shot down a MiG-17 or something like that, granted with a snake if I recall. A number of props shot down MiGs over Korea. And to back up Jug....Pacific ace Thomas McGuire tried to hard turn into a Ki-43 of all things, A Luft ace in Bf-109 bounced a Yak-3 that was landing but had to follow McGuire's mistake and crashed on or near the Soviet airfield. Dam. Its tempting to say that F-22 pilot was a "noob" or whatever, but he may have been a top guy. Sometimes they goof up, not often, but when they do, get out of their way hehee..
  5. Plug for the Meth idea. Its the one that makes sense to me. Its not an isolated idea. There are some lakes, one in Africa I've heard about, that at some times bubbles up CO2 that fills valleys, displacing lighter O2, and suffocates whole populations. Scary stuff out there. But the funny thing: Except for maybe one (earthquake), all the scary stuff -- volcano, flood, wildfire, superstorms, etc...happens to be where the Earth is the most fertile for life. That's how life works!! Its almost Xenlike.
  6. Ah, most interesting thanks. I'll keep my sight then!!
  7. Yes very nice you two -- Veltro2Ordway I'm thinking of taking down that gunsight. I don't see any obstructions in various cockpit views looking forward, although its hard to tell in the photos. Did F-102A have any IR Falcon missile pipper on glass?
  8. Oh, yea...Skippy, I "forgot" as usual. Nice video. Could be worse: you could have been up there hehe... Didn't mean to hijack your thread. F106 was my last airshow, over twenty years back.
  9. Thunderbirds...?...lol I never got into the "pop" stuff. The only thing I remember from that show was F-106 and the pilotmech guy...well, two tarnished leathered worn out bodies but one youthful soul, plus the worn out plane which needed external cart to start.
  10. Yough Wrench those missiles are too high, melding with the rails. Is this Correct Thinking?
  11. Bah. A good friend and me saw one of the last if not last air show appearances of F-106. Mid 80s or so. After F-106 landed, the Blue Angels were coming up to bat soon. Everybody ran down there. But I'm a contrarian, so... We had the pilot and mech to ourselves for long afterwards, as the Sheep all herded over to the Blue Angels thing. Those guys were two bodies, one soul, one mind, plus the plane. In the end, I said it was time for us to leave, because after the F-106 lands, the entire airshow is over. They loved that!!!! We totally missed the F-16 Flacons, but we saw the entire airshow -- all F-106.

  14. Suggestion: Some years aback, Wall Street Journal had an article about looking around on the street for new business ideas or trends nobody else thinks of. The article gave some examples one of which involved paying close attention to the shoes people wear. *Free Tip* The Jetsims developers should look at the wrist watches people wear on the street -- Everybody "says" DIGITAL IS COOL but everybody wears ANALOGUE. The Digital Watch Fad lasted about as long as Pet Rocks. Everybody went back to analogue watches, except for a tiny number of cave dwelling digital watch wearers. People want the analogue look and feel. Apply that to Teh Sims jet cockpits: Analogue Fighters Contrarian. ie...You want something different than all the other copy-paste "digital post-modern" superHUDjet sims, something besides using a computer to simulate a computer. Build an early to middle Cold War sim, 1940s to 1970s, and they will come.
  15. I avoid crowds of sheep like a plague for this very reason. Maybe Police were smart like me and stayed away.
  16. Yeah, problem is we need a new replacement The nicest looking airplane ever thread.
  17. Bah, trying to get rockets working right in air-air mode. By "right" I mean good dispersion by mounting them at odd angles, but only the horizontal angle works and the AI always aims low. I might skip this until I get it figured out. Wrench has experimented with gunpods as air-air rocket pods so I may look at that eventually.
  18. Over at capun's place, TheEditor poasted this video of cancelled super-recon Republic R-12 for me. Fuzzy, but probably rare video. Scary flypast with what seems like a lot of yaw, or so I kinda guess. Very hot design probably. Video starts after a few still photos ~> http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&v=eeu04VaxssU Intro article on R-12 ~> http://www.spyflight.co.uk/Rainbow.htm
  19. Try here...I filtered using the search "contrails"...only the small images are available. Still very nice. thousands of photos ~> http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=contrails&w=all
  20. SF is the basic, and is what I use, but WoV has A-6 and F-105 cockpits which are two of the best in the series. I import all other stuff into my original SF. That takes some work though. The new Vista WoV won't have A-6 cockpit. Get the Classic WoV now before its too late. I don't know if WoE has F-105. If so, that's pretty good as it also has Hunter cockpit.
  21. Ordway, try this. It matches pilot position with player. You can see the wings and just a tip of drop tank. I'm using olde SF 2006. [CockpitSeat001] ModelName=F-106_Pit Position=0.0,3.7,0.7 Offset=0.0,0.0,0.0 ViewAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 MaxYaw=165 MinYaw=-165 MaxPitch=90 MinPitchFront=-60 MinPitchRear=-40 If I recall, the game assumes Nose is already ShowFromCockpit=FALSE by lack of this line in the DATA file, so its already good to go, I think. Poasting about drop tanks...NoJettisionTank=FALSE lets you drop the tanks. They are not perma fixed to the external model like on the F-106 model. Thanks Veltro!!
  22. *oops* wrong thread. Cockpit stuff. There are too many F-102 threads lately. Not that there is anything wrong with that. --- Ordway, try this. It matches pilot position with player. 23. Ah, there seems to be a somewhat clear view out front in at least one of these cockpit photos here. ~~> http://uscockpits.com/Jet%20Fighters/Jet%2...hters.html#F102 Veltro included a "sight" in the 3d Model cockpit area so I guess there is visual means of sighting the IR Falcons maybe. mmmm Fantastic work Veltros, as always and ordways!!!
  24. Wow, ordway how you do this is beyond me. Very nice. If you are interested in standard no-guns, rotate that gunsight! I don't know how obscured this plane's view out front, but for F-106 I stack a classical junkpile in front of the pilot just by rotating that gunsight so you can't see through it. Because the 3D nature of TK's view system, you can "lean" to see around the garbage heap-- second pic below, note runway stripe that is directly in front of the aircraft. Details here, scroll down to 106 ~> http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...a&start=168
