More Flankers!
SayethWhaaaa replied to Marcfighter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I tried but the main pylon was a bit too big for a triple rack. The lower bomb would slip into the runway itself. I'm currently using the twin bombracks and their clearance is fine... K, maybe not with the Mk82s, anything larger though might be a problem. These shots will give you an idea of the amount of room there is to play with: -

I love that Flanker skin... With the missile bay, you can activate the weapon but it won't fire until you open the bay. So if you fire two and don't open the bay, the next time you do open the bay, you'll have two sticks go screaming out. Same for bombs, ASMs etc. I'm pretty sure they won't track the target, they'll just fire out. -
You mean Persis Khambatta... I mean whoever... Sh*t, I wish I didn't know that...

Arresting hook
SayethWhaaaa replied to j33l's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've seen photos to that particular event, a couple of grainey videos and so on, but never had a clue as to why they did that at all. Cheers, that's been bugging me for a while now!!! -
Arresting hook
SayethWhaaaa replied to j33l's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Here's a big plane catching a hook And a bigger one here... http://www.noolmusic.com/blogs/YouTube_Goo...t_Carrier.shtml Useful for arresting aircraft after landing (as opposed to them using the carpark at the end of the runway to cushion it's landing) and for use in short field operations, most combat aircraft have had them since as far back as Korea I think. The USAF, USMC and USN used and perfected land based arresting techniques in Vietnam when operating from short strips. It's not all that uncommon. It's more of a safety feature these days. They couldn't, say, land on a carrier since the stresses on the airframe can truly fubar an airframe, particualarly since deck traps are pretty intensive and sudden. -

View File Yellow Squadron Flanker Skin V.1 This is a Yellow Sqn skin I made shortly after using the Flanker for the first time. However, there are a few issues, texture corrections etc I feel it needs but I won't have time to sort out just yet, so I'm gonna release this beta as is and make a more suitable skin at a later date. <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/dufusboy/Yellow1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/dufusboy/YellowSqn.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> Make sure to read the readme file and make Erusea proud!! Big shouts to Marc and Marcfighters posse for their hard work with the Flanker and the skin this is derived from. Submitter SayWhatt Submitted 02/19/2007 Category Fictional/What If Skins

Flanker in the House
SayethWhaaaa replied to NeverEnough's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, that'll happen. Depends on who makes it and what info they're using. A good example of Point of View having a direct bearing on how weapons handle in game is LOMAC. The standard version had the US weapons primarily dominant to begin with, but when the Russian company released Flaming Cliffs, the pendulum swung the other way and many of the Russian weapons were now superior to the US/NATO ones. Personally, I use the Weapons Editor a lot! (I use the thirdwire ones from here: http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm) I find just slightly tweaking the standard weapons gives me a more enjoyable experience when using them than the default weaps pack. I only usually edit the noise rejection and CM rejection to get sticks that that hardly get spoofed my CMs, HOWEVER, don't forget that if you make your sticks super accurate, they'll be a bugger to counter when you fly against them. Still, having a devil of a time making a QAAM from the Ace Combat series... might have to give up on that one... -

Hey! A sandgroper! You mean like this? ...nah Just got a couple of issues to sort out with it, then I'll post it. Unless Kei Nagase beats me to it! -
My appologies if there's a stupid ad before this one. Not much happens for the first 30 seconds, but after... I laughed my ass off! Here's the link: http://www.spikedhumor.com/Article.aspx?id=83664 I wouldn't know whether I'd laugh while I was bolting, or whether I'd just crap myself...

View File Desert Flanker Skin This is a mod of the Marcfighters whitenose Flanker skin to resemble a desert scheme, similar to the Ace Combat Desert Flanker schemes. It has the added bonus of blending into the Parani desert nicely too. <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/dufusboy/DCFlanker.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> All the hard work was done by the Marcfighters crew, I just "tweaked" it Submitter SayWhatt Submitted 02/16/2007 Category Fictional/What If Skins

I only came across this article the other day even though it happened a while ago and it blew me away, especially the photos! Did anyone see this or am I the only one to miss it?? : Here's the link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../napache122.xml It's about some Ballsy poms going back on an ad hoc CSAR run to pick up their fallen comrade. All I'm saying is that I'd like to have mates like that after a night at the pub... *Mental Note* Not going to pick on ANY UK soldiers ever again... EVER! Think I owe a mate an appology for a bit of occasional ribbing...

I can't remember exactly but I'm positive the VVS is looking to use the augmented 2nd/3rd gen Phazotron Phased array. But I can't find the source, so don't take it as though its set in stone. Plus, depending on what missiles are used on the fuselage hardpoints, up to six can be carried: This is a snap of a Mig-31M with the newer R-37s

Where else can I grab the F.3? I think the link maybe broken (at least for me)... -
I love this series, but i thought the dialogue in "Unsung" was REALLY cheesy... By the way, I just want to go on the regimental record in saying that I was totally stoked when that dufus "PJ" bought the farm in Ace Combat Zero! I know he was supposed to be your wingman and all, but he is completely annoying! I tried shooting him down, I'd bolt from the furball so he'd have to deal with the wraith of the Belkans... to no avail. But when he takes that missile in the face from Pixy right at the end, I was cheering!
