Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Well, Wrench, I'm still quite curious. Apparently some have this problem and some don't. Never had it myself but I imagine it is rather annoying!... Do both of you have your installs in C drive? I wonder if it could be the reason. Anyway guess I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it....- 126 replies

Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Apparently we have the classic "inis constantly rewritten everytime game is launched" problem. Here is the lastest thread!.... (and there were various posts about it in other ones) http://combatace.com/topic/86529-update-aircraft-list-sf2/?do=findComment&comment=697641 I couldn't ponder out what would be the cause, reckon it's likely to be an OS level thing... In the Korea install luckily only the Mig-15 and Mig-15Bis is affected, perhaps set their inis to read-ony would solve it (among many suggestions posted by other guys but.. nothing concrete it seems). Far as I can tell, new inis are outputted whenever the EXE detects it has access to new .CATs, so when: fresh install, every CAT is new; a new exe is made, to this .exe every .CAT is new; updates, DLC installs, also new .CATs. So repeated ini outputs means the old .CATs are not recognized. So... registry problem? User account security problem?... This is far as I got.- 126 replies

Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thanks Emp_Palpatine, it looks like the mig somehow turned back to AI only... Perhaps check to make sure the game actually can call up its cockpit. i.e. check Mig-15.ini in the aircraft folder and see if it has this line CockpitDataFile=Mig-15_cockpit.ini and there's indeed a Mig-15_cockpit.ini file in there. And make sure the cockpit folder is present.- 126 replies

Emp_Palpatine, That's weird... Do you have SF2 Europe? The Mig-15 LOD is in SF2E.- 126 replies

[airunit024], [airunit031], [airunit032] and [airunit035] are all missiong... more sequencing problems... edit: OK I can confirm it is due to the messed up Airunit sequence. I added the TW F-14A like you and got the swedish service marking. Instead I added the F-14 to [airunit024] and USN markings showed up OK. Ideally it is best to re-sort the unit list in the campaign data ini but, I suppose adding it to the Airunit024 slot will do for your purpose.

Looks like a UnitID sequence problem. Try [uSNUnit001] UnitName=VF-103 Jolly Rogers ForceID=1 UnitID=17//<---change this StartDate=03/05/2014 DescFile=RNL1.txt StartText=IBSTART.txt AircraftType=F-14B_96 My reason being Unitid count are separate for either side. So although in the data.ini the F-14 squadron has [Airunit043], it is the 17th down the list for blue units. Similarly if one wants to add red side Mig-29C_rus of the "1th Fighter Regiment" to the player flyable list it would have UnitID=1 instead of 16.

Thanks man the low velocity cannons are actually very frustrating. A radar would help probably. I'm watching your scooter vid:D -
Landing The F-14
Do335 replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I get this on F-4 as well, whenever landing in a too nose high attitude, the ac bounces back and forth until catastrophe... Probably some weird interactions between the nose gear, main gear and arresting hook. Reduce AoA then all is well. -
What brings you back to SF2?
Do335 replied to MrGoTime's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Campaign engine that beats any current commercial title. Open modding so if I don't like something I can change it. Competent AI that provides repeated challenges. The modders that make Korea and WW2 possible --- avionics shiavionics. -
pretty good demo there.

update aircraft list SF2
Do335 replied to comrad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
hmmm something like this would happen if there're multiple installs and 2 or more exes of the same name in each install folder (so they share the same mod folder and options.ini). Each time one switch to another exe to open the game there'll be new inis saved to the mod folder. I've yet thought of another cause... -

Somehow influenced by you ShrikeHawk. I usually do slashing attacks, but the knife fight is indeed very fun. -

Eh tricky typo this one. I get a feeling NA is not debugged enough. Like SF2E that got the mega bug thread http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6591(and many others..) -
Sheriff, Perhaps check if the folders are in the correct paths. i.e. the aircrafts are at C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\Objects\Aircraft\ and terrains files (the loads of .LODs, skins, inis etc) at C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\Terrains\Korea3\

Anyone bought the Mig-15 module?
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
eh yeah regarding gun convergence (something i picked up while browsing CloD foras as they're quite hardcore about it there) There're 2 convergence settings. One is vertical convergence, the other is horizontal. Below in the pic, the Bf109 has vertical convergence set at 400m; horizontal convergence set at 200m. Note the "zero" line (base line) is pilot's gunsight LOS. Obviously there's some math required for this (or I guess a lot of shooting test).... -

I usually follow it too with a caveat. I then proceed to ram it. :D -

eh yehh. It's not that popular a jet. Info is relatively scarce or untranslated. But have found a hint in the manual so will settle for that.
