Seems like the tank was called the Joseph Stalin 3 as in JS-3. Then again my memory is fading. -
Little tardy, but no less hearty.......Thanks, MK2!

Has anyone else encountered the F-5E speed brakes stuck down and unresponsive after the latest patches to the appropriate key control?

A little tweak................the F-5 when ready for takeoff has a paddle on the stick (E/F models only) that decompresses the nosegear oleo strut and causes the nose to raise. The aircraft looks kinda like it is 'cocked' for takeoff which it is and, actually, that is the idea. It sets the takeoff AOA closer to actual. To duplicate this 'cocked' look on the runway for takeoff, change the following: [NoseGear] SpringFactor=2.0 <-- change this to 5 [LeftMainGear] SpringFactor=3.0 <-- change this to 1 [RightMainGear] SpringFactor=3.0 <-- change this to 1 Looks better on the E model. (tested in WoV and WoE w/current patches) -
A moment to thank TK and his wonderful imagination that has brought us all this series of Third Wire simulations. TK, you da man!!!!!

Beautiful work. Cannot wait............. -
Try wing-low method in a U-2.....until touchdown then immediately put the opposite wing on the ground to keep the jet from weathervaning. If you are fortunate enough to be a little heavy, the effects are not as great, but that is the good news. The bad news is that you almost always blow the windward main tire. Better option is to go somewhere else. (not an option for the airlines, though).

Hardened Stinger site took a couple of shots at me in WoI with the new Afganistan terrain. Since I was in an A-10 I accepted their invitation to dinner and shot big holes in their site...................................(sigh of satisfaction)! -

OK, I'm rubbing it a bit here, but FC allowed me to do some FM flight testing on both and they fly pretty much like the real thing. They are really fun and allow you to fly from the back seat (new to TK sims). Initial paint jobs look really good. Kudos to FC. -
Praying for your country and people, ghostrider883. We've been there and done that and it sucks.

Canopy Ups and Downs
Jug replied to Jug's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Whuff-Whuff-Whuff I am giving myself 1000 lashes with a wet noodle. I asked the same question on an earlier post and got the same answers. Didn't pay attention or write down the fixes then, but I will now..........Stupid me! Whuff-Whuff-Whuff -
I have found that with the latest patches, some of my aircraft that had canopy animation working, appear to work in reverse. Opens as the aircraft accelerates on the runway instead of closing. Anybody else run into that problem? Anybody got a fix?

In my opinion, states that do not evolve are already in the first vestages of dissolution. That is what makes the election of Mr Obama such a milestone. The US of 2008 is a different kind of entity today then it was in 1964 when the equal opportunity was for some, not all. While we still have a way to go, our nation is improving for all the right reasons and I cannot think of a better manifestation of that positive growth than the election this year. I didn't vote for Mr Obama, but he is my President and Commander-in-Chief now. I can also appreciate the event as what it is in our history. I set aside our current economic malaise as just another cyclical thing that is not truly a threat to our society, but, actually, another reason for us to draw together. It is what it is. We'll call the bums who have been involved in illegal doings in that sector to task too. Imperialism is not our thing, despite claims in other sectors that it is. Our history, though short, proves that, eventually, when we feel that we have been accountable for our actions, we give everything back. Our self-assumed role as international policeman, however, is constantly in question and under fire here at home and that is a good thing. There is a lot of proof that the US can be your best friend or your worst enemy, your choice. When we've a mind to, oh boy, can we fight. We have walked away from fights (Vietnam), but we have never lost one. We haven't done a particularly good job of deciding when to get into a fight, but, I think, we are learning from our experience. No person on this planet, unless you are an American, understands in the least way what makes Americans so fiercely competitive and patriotic. We are prolific and loud in our own self-criticism and this is a good thing. However, try to castigate us from the outside (Hugo) or making assumptions based on that internal strife is a huge mistake. You will be faced with something you were not expecting at all. We can circle the wagons and take on all comers a whole lot faster and more effectively than anyone can imagine. A democracy is what the people want and elect and, thereby, is in constant evolution to the needs of the electorate. Equal outcome is not the objective, equal opportunity is (so much for socialism). That is why we celebrate so much when the underdog wins. As long as the majority of the electorate insists on accountability, we will survive and end up stronger along the way. Everybody that governs in our society is a temp. We're not stuck with anybody for too long and can survive the bums no matter how bad they are. We, also, don't allow the princes enough time to turn into bums either. So, by my measure, the US is doing fine and I guess that my final proof is that there is no shortage of good men and women who voluntarily stand in line for the right to place their lives in harm's way to protect this nation. As long as that condition exists, we must be doing something right, are not yet on the road to decline, and can still call ourselves worthy.

MiG-19 lights?
Jug replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Attached is what I have been using for most of the add on aircraft.... my add on text file. I store information that are the result of somebody's experience that has been related here at CA or from my own scratching around in the INI files. It should be a complete .INI change list for the MiG-19S. I do not have Wrench's nose gear taxi light, but this file does add two landing lights forward of the main struts underneath each wing and the ant-collision rotating beacons top and bottom. Most MiGs landing lights are in this configuration, but I didn't have any good pics of a MiG at night to see the taxi light Wrench notes. I'll add one and re-submit this file later. Congratulations, SidDogg. Remember that promotion is not a reward, it is an expectation!

Sorry Icarus99, I did not make my point well. It is my opinion that this whole thread is not worthy of attention on this forum. To me, suicide is the coward's way out and giving the poor confused fool any attention at all only brings more pain to his family and indirectly encourages copycat activity from others facing difficulty. Nobody said this ride was going to be easy.

Expanding the VPAF in WOV
Jug replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I added a Chinese Q-5 and a Su-7BM. Used mod aircraft and changed the [aircraft]_data.ini (for the Q-5)as follows: [MissionData] NationName=NVietnam <--- changed this Then I changed one of the camo skins' folder names that came with the mod aircraft to NorthVietnam01 Changed the decals.ini to reflect the size and location of the national insignia. If the decal mentioned says INSIGNIA, then the decal will be the national insignia designated above in the data.ini [MissionData]. If you need to move the decals around, play with the position numbers (Aft-Fwd from center, Up-Dwn from center) and the Rotation (0-level) to suit you. Changed the decals.ini to use the numbers on the nose like the VPAF MiG-17F. Put some lights on that bad boy as follows: // Lights --------------------------------------------------------- //Position=[right/left of centerline],[fwd/aft from acft center],[above/below acft center] [LeftPositionLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=-4.52,-2.917,-0.133 LightSrcOffset=-0.2,0.00,0.00 Color=0.98,0.25,0.25 Brightness=0.03 LightSrcRange=0.5 CanFlash=FALSE [RightPositionLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=4.52,-2.917,-0.133 LightSrcOffset=0.20,0.00,0.00 Color=0.25,0.98,0.25 Brightness=0.03 LightSrcRange=0.5 CanFlash=FALSE [RedTailLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=0.0,-6.122,2.54 LightSrcOffset=0.00,0.00,0.20 Color=0.98,0.25,0.25 Brightness=0.03 LightSrcRange=0.4 CanFlash=FALSE [TailLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=0.0,-6,0.72 LightSrcOffset=0.00,0.20,0.00 Color=0.88,0.88,0.88 Brightness=0.03 LightSrcRange=0.3 CanFlash=FALSE [TopRotatingBeacon] SystemType=LIGHT Position=0,0,1.045 LightSrcOffset=-0.20,0.00,0.00 Color=0.88,0.05,0.05 Brightness=0.07 LightSrcRange=0.5 CanFlash=TRUE FlashTime=0.5 [bottomRotatingBeacon] SystemType=LIGHT Position=0,0.5,-0.6 LightSrcOffset=-0.20,0.00,0.00 Color=0.88,0.05,0.05 Brightness=0.07 LightSrcRange=0.5 CanFlash=TRUE FlashTime=0.5 [landinglight1] SystemType=Light Color=0.88,0.88,0.88 Brightness=0.05 Position=-0.8800,0.4741,-0.1375 LightSrcOffset=2.6046,49.0560,0.0 LightSrcRange=150 LightRange=45.0 CanFlash=FALSE LightNodeName=LandingLight IsLandingLight=TRUE [landinglight2] SystemType=Light Color=0.88,0.88,0.88 Brightness=0.05 Position=0.8800,0.4741,-0.1375 LightSrcOffset=2.6046,49.0560,0.0 LightSrcRange=150 LightRange=45.0 CanFlash=FALSE LightNodeName=LandingLight IsLandingLight=TRUE Then proceeded to launch strike missions against the Americans. Then realized how much an attack capability from the VPAF would have changed the complexion of the Vietnam Air war.
