  1. What a pretty.....................! Excellent job.
  2. Actually, it is a simple cost/benefit comparison. Jettison the jet, you live. Attempt to save the damaged jet, you die. I, personally, always thought my young, tender, pink hide was always worth more than a semi-flyable jet.
  3. Personally, I think we need to send Nikki in her Spad out there.................problem solved.
  4. That is quite politically correct. Que merde!
  5. Great job, India Navy. Go get 'em!!!

    Fun Week Ahead

I think you will find that the AK was, quite smartly, constructed so that it can fire both 5.45 and 5.56 cartridges. The plan was to use western ammunition when theirs ran short during a conflict with the west. On the other side of the fence, western weapons have to have NATO spec cartridges. I also think that you will find 7.62 to be a NATO spec cartridge. Best of luck at your conference. Also, keep in mind that what Russia has the most of is what NATO is all about defending against. Currently it is missiles and tanks. Well, it has always been missiles and tanks. NATO's interest is anti-missile and anti-tank stuff. Since Russian diplomacy is about 85% intimidation and 15% negotiation, anything that makes their foreign office have to change their ways, they are dead set against. The real issue in NATO is funding. Who is going to chip in the $$ for the toys for the boys.
  7. Thanks, Wrench. (F11-1F) My question is where is the "kill" file referenced in the fileformat entry? Is it a file that is an internal part of the game and does not have to be copied and pasted? The rest is just positioning the decal in the decal.ini on the correct meshname. However, most of the referenced fileformat entries point to the .tga files in "[aircraft]\[skin]\d" folder. I was hunting around for the "kill" file and have no idea where it exists. Evidently, my concern is wasted because it doesn't matter. Reference the file and it appears when called. PFM (Pure Frapping Magic) - pilot talk for anything unexplainable in simple terms.
  8. Post a BUFF loaded with LGBs motoring in circles in the area, give the sailors a laser designator, and clear the seas. The BUFF's radar can spot a pirate size boat over an impressively wide expanse of ocean. The pirates usually stop their target, which means they usually stop too. A little radio communicatiion, put a little red dot amidships, and wait for the boom. Bad guys don't know from where or how and gather a quick audience with Allah. Additionally, ships targeted by pirates can start chumming the water to bring in the clean up crew.
  9. There used to be an add-on kill markings that would put a little red star right up below the cockpit for every kill you got in the game. Kinda fun to see your score right on the side of your aircraft. I have run through the search files and I cannot find it. Was it one of the mods that went away with the patches? Anybody got a link or have a copy of the file? Would be greatly appreciated.

    OMG!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.............wonder what comments would arrive if we all posted our own pictures at our best and 'lookin' good". Apparently there must be some sort of appeal to this lady because she has attracted the undying affection of one person. Wonder how many of us have done as well???????
  11. Great job, Blackbird. Looking forward to flying this puppy.
  12. Got some badly needed inspiration and focus tonite.....wound up Top Gun on a 65" Plasma in HD DVD with surround sound fluttering the curtains and foo-fooing my hair. Gotta say the Navy boys put on a great show and that film is ripe for a revisit anytime. So what is the latest thing that has wound you up about jumping in our Sim, moving around some dirt in a violent manner, and trashing a MiG or two lately????
  13. HoooooohRaaaah, Devil Dogs!!!!
  14. Love to hear the whole story. Wouldn't it be interesting to present a scenario in this SIM where air superiority is not yet established? Did your scenario include bad guy air assets? In Vietnam, Iraq and other places, US SAR forces did not have to deal with enemy aircraft. The ground defense ambushes were/are plenty exciting enough, but combat losses and SAR requirements are not limited to air superiority scenarios. You could almost make a mini-campaign out of one SAR attempt.
  15. Must be good spaghetti because they do good work!
  16. Wow, what a video. Great lead with Sammuel L. Jackson declaring the righteous intent and some great rock music to accompany wanton destruction. Did you notice all of the secondaries? Spectre crews should play that music during prefight across the intercom. It that doesn't get you pumped, you're a rock and you're not going to get any better!!!!!!
  17. You might try a PM to NGHENGO here. He and the Italian mafia were working on Ichiban Habu and requested I give them some recommendations on the pilot's cockpit. They were well into the project as I understand.
  18. The article repeats most of what was said in the debriefing (now off line) noted on this thread. Is it trustworthy? In my opinion it is as trustworthy as the briefing was. It seems to me that an expedition to the United States to participate in the Red Flag exercises must be a very expensive thing to do. To arrive and not test your men and machinery to the maximum extent possible seems to defeat the purpose of the trip. The French showed up with their Rafael only to hold back and stay out of the fight (merge). Indians showed up and did not use the best capacity of their radars, but they did bring regular line pilots instead of their test pilot level aviators. Still seems to me the Indians and the French left out of a full expensive flying test, all of their capacities and did not get some real questions answered. This opportunity will not come again quickly ($$$$). At the end of the day, the French will say their Rafael is the best (even though it did not enter the fray), the Indians will say their Su-30 was the best (though the flight results make it closer to a draw with F-16/15), the Indians will say that the MiG-21 Bison is quite formidable still (rightly so), and the Americans can question everybody's opinion because it is our range and our rules. I would be willing to bet that all participants are better, more professional aviators for the experience.
  19. Connery is Bond, Bond is Connery....anything else is less........!
  20. Interesting to note the speaker's comments about the high uncontrollable sink rate developed by the SU-30 in a scissors maneuver with an opponent when the vectored thrust is initiated. Proves once again that throwing a big jet sideways doesn't generate a lot of lift......Duh! He was impressed with the Su-30's weapons capability and the SU-30 radar's passive detection mode. F-16s and F-15s are out of luck if the Su-30 pilot is experienced. According to the brief, the Raptor is turning out to be one helluva dogfighter. Tough situation when you can't see the bad guy and, even if you lucked into it, the bad guy can still out-fly you. Excellent briefing though. Thanks for the link Brain32.
  21. 1. F-105 Thud 2. A-1 Spad 3. F-4 (all flavors) Rhino It's all about movin' dirt............!!!
  22. Seja bem vindo aqui de novo, meu amigo. O senhor e um lendo e seus avioies estao bem acetado pelo todo mundo. (Sinto, estou matando a lingua Portuguesa).
  23. Ditto what they said...........
  24. There you go again, bragging, Dave..............
