Polovski replied to badgerboy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Come out of Warp yourself more often, fly a little then warp in short sections. Tthat works better for me. -

Sounds like something became corrupt. Check the instructions on the download page on our website, spent a fair bit of time on that so it should make some sense :) http://www.overflandersfields.com/Downloads.htm Important install notes: If you have V1.28a or earlier installed: Grab ALL of these patches and install in order. So install 1.30 then 1.30c then 1.31L then any optional DM if used. If you have V1.30 : You need BOTH minipatches installed. So install 1.30c then 1.31L Then any optional DM if used. . If you have V1.30c already installed: Just download the 1.31L minipatch and apply that! No need for DM reinstall if you used any optional. -
hehe, no no closer to 500,000 wasn't it? Maths was never my strong point though.

Advancing the date
Polovski replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Workshop... campaign advance .. . auto/manual - then you'll see a new button in campaign. -
The damage model is already there on the craft - the visible fractures on wings when they break, the bullet holes on radiators, wings, fuselage etc, the damage decals already there and show. We made them and put them there to show. What FB and Herr Prop Wasche have done is concentrated reducing the values on certain parts like wings etc, but whilst trying to keep the AI flying a little bit longer so that damage actually shows easier, more often. So you actually get to see some of the good stuff more easily basically. In testing versus a novice in a turkeyshoot type mission you will see a lot more of damage even in the original DM, but often you are against tougher more nimble opponents so hard to get that kaboom effect. The break points we also played with many times before, and have a DM tool to do edits like this globally quickly for the purpose of testing. However as the guys have they think good results we are looking at a combination of settings including revisiting the break points values plus give us the chance to add other effects in at some stage.

Thanks for promoting OFF, one or two comments over there probably wouldn't but no worries. Some Facts 1) CA asked us to admin the forum. 2) We don't edit it or censor people's posts. A couple of complete threads in the last couple of weeks went nuts apparently and were deleted as they were posts that were inappropriate behaviour in a forum. So to avoid this, this is a reasonable request given all the fuss. We just like to keep things polite, civil and on topic (i.e about OFF). There are plenty of other Admins on CA who have more power and can easily be contacted if you feel badly done by. 3) I did NOT post that Special Offer in the RoF forum. It was MOVED, possibly in error by a SIMHQ ADMIN! Odd eh. If you read the thread it was there in the OFF forum happily for WEEKS with amiable comments from OFF users, until it was moved. See Tom Cofield's apology here http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2745838/4.html and my comments http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topi...tml#Post2814521 I have PM's from the admins kindly apologising for the thread being moved. I would not do something so crass and stupid to post a special offer for OFF in the wrong forum. Shees after all this time, and I get that credit. Thanks! When you are ready to apologise I'm all ears.

Great thread. BTW "disable in cloud effect" just stops you getting the foggy effect when in a cloud, not sure it enhances speed to turn that off, probably best to leave it on unless you feel a difference as it looks good :) As uncleal says My sliders are 5 5 4 Terrain 4 Scenery 5 5 Don't do 5's on terrain (maybe scenery but not much point). -
Yeah very good idea HomeBoy Just need someone to do the shovel work :) If OvS or someone has time maybe we can tidy it and have it in a sub forum or in general help.

We recommend the one that is in the boxes by default. 23/16. It feels close but the right size. Dial's are round etc. TrackIR is essential. CFS3 doesn't just zoom the view when it goes widescreen it adds more left and right for widescreen - leaving the previous vertical alone. So just setting a 1.6:1 proportion may go screwy. Anyway it's each to his own that one..
-
Interesting perspective. Each to his own. Personally if I didn't own it I'd want it for the new AI and campaign.
-
Great idea Oldham :) Stealth, yes 21st century.. the postal service use aeroplanes and everything ! :)

We do not use different effects in QC or in the xdps but if you can consistently over many many tests always produce something different re damage in campaign verus QC then we can look at. Problem is there are an incredible amount of variables from people's PC's to settings hard to say after a few flights, it's x or y. Testing the DM takes a long time because of this. Also in Campaign many people may be against a wider variety of AI skill, so Ace shooting up a poor slow wingman poodling along would show damage much quicker as the Ace is much more deadly and accurate, and the other guy could be a poorer pilot and trying to run for example making an easier target , more hits... or cut to shreds by ground fire etc. I wouldn't test the DM versus an Ace best against novice or vet.

Big Jim sounds like you have some odd stuff going on there, you sure you are launching via OFF Manager ? If you have a virus scanner try turning it off before you fly, something sounds odd in memory corrupting something whatever.

Well the heavily compressed file is about 4GB for a start. So the download would not compress more in transit (Unpacks to 15GB). There are several reasons I won't go into but we have what we have, and yes the addons being much much smaller will likely be download.

Good point Hauksbee I am sure we will even it out at some point :)
-
Strutter has dive brakes.. so I'd say they did dive sometimes :) Shift+D DFW has a crude bomb sight F7 I think (watch default may clash with TrackIR). For 2 seaters remember to use Shift+f8 for rear gunner as F8 again may clash with TIR default keys).

I was talking about AI navigation not combat but some things do not effect AI currently but they are all flying the same FM and DM as the player. I find it fairly easy versus DIII's in Se5a's - seems people see different things. QC is variable, PCs are and so many settings like joysticks, PC performance, game settins etc. Slider settings do affect AI too. Low sliders gives LOWER AI performance from what we have seen. Also try campaign that's where you should judge who dominates who really.
-
OK yes pull away is a bit different lol. If you mean at the start yes AI can do full throttle wind does not effect them so you can often be struggling.. however you will catch them up when they settle. The AI waypoint stuff is tricky, we have done lots of work to get it good enough, and at the moment it's the best it will get until we can redo many things.
-
AI pilots don't jump 1000 yards never seen anything like that ever BigJim, suggests something is really screwy going on there. If anyone else can reproduce it then let us know. DR1 can climb better than your Se5 and faster, as they guys say a dive at top speed. Make sure you leaned the engine, used your straight or diving speed to leave them.

First time I've seen this damage effect. Very nice!
Polovski replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The effect has always been there I made it happen that way in the tripe sometimes, you lose a wing and it takes out the undercarriage too. Just how it shows and when has varied over time because of the XDP settings. Wings will come off earlier now with the tweaks in Chris's DM. -
Question on patches and Hardcore and Normal DM patches
Polovski replied to jack72's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Jack carefully read the instructions on the Download page. It explains it. You need all the 3 patches at the top. Install in that order. (Forget the optional DM patches for now at the bottom of the page you do not need them, unless you feel it's too easy.. then install the Hardcore DM otherwise.. er forget it). The "Improvements and Fixes in V1.31L" is just telling you what is fixed recently. Also.. "NOTE THESE THREE PATCHES TOGETHER SUPERCEDE and INCLUDE ALL previous updates. i.e. So install V1.30 then V1.30c then V1.31L minipatch and that is all you need. They can be installed over ANY earlier version of BH&H." Says it all. -
LOL thanks guys ;) Yeah I thought it was great work too - I spent quite some time doing it for the FAQ ;) Thanks for posting it though Test Pilot it helps someone.

No changes were made there Hellshade for this patch.
