  1. The easiest fix is to reorder the EnemyNation entries and make somebody other than SOVIET EnemyNation001.
  2. If I change the map to NavalMap=FALSE and insert carrier groups in the targets.ini list (like we used to have to do it in the Gen 1 series), does that fix the problem of the game engine refusing to spawn night missions in campaign mode?
  3. I tried DCS. I really did. For the last five months, I've tried to get into it. Just can't.
  4. The status of SF2 is that we have what we have and it's all we'll ever have. Has some great advantages in that it is remarkably flexible and it has as much soul as the creator of the stuff you're using dares to put into it. It has an avionics suite that is easily approachable. It features in-game aircraft that no other company has even touched. And, thanks to the efforts of a very stalwart group of people, an exceedingly large number of places to fly and things to do while you're there. That said, it has a number of ridiculously bad flaws that make it impossible for me to enjoy any longer. The AI can no longer use external countermeasure racks and we're not even really 100% sure it can use external ECM pods. You cannot fly at night during a campaign if its a naval map. The stock red side carriers are non functional and took the efforts of modders to fix. The AI is atrociously bad at situational awareness. I'm actually moving on to DCS and Combat Air Patrol 2, which is still in very early access phase, but looks promising.
  5. Yeah, that was kind of a bone headed question on my part. The AI using external chaff/flare pods would be pretty easy to notice. Not so much for the ECM.
  6. Did anyone ever test to confirm that AI can at least use the external ECM racks?
  7. I'm presuming external ECM racks don't work. You can put them on to make them look correct, but there's no guarantee they're working. If the AI can't use chaff/flares, I'm presuming the only thing they can use is drop tanks and external weapons. If you're like me, and you're running the most recent update with SF2NA, all aircraft need to have internal ECM/chaff/flares in order to mimic their real-life counterparts.
  8. This. That would be ridiculously bad if the external ECM pods don't even work.
  9. Yep. Game-breaker in a lot of cases. Just make the ECM and CM dispensers internal and the external pods as like datalink or something. Not that the datalink provisions work, either, but at least you still have the look as well as the capability. Now, wait. Does this inability extend to ECM jamming pods? I thought it was just the external chaff/flare dispensers.
  10. DCS will not likely be creating anything even remotely 5th gen. Not even really 4th+, for that matter. The only reason we have the A-10C is because of their military contract.
  11. It's amazing. Today's combat trainers are capable of a lot of the same things as the front-line fighters of the Cold War. I wouldn't mind having the Yak-130 (or the Italians' license-built version of it) myself.
  12. I figured it was a 'what-if'. I'm presuming it's for the first-gen games because of their FB page. Wonder if it can be ported over into the 2nd-gen titles.
  13. http://combatace.com/gallery/image/34230-17309958-1257284754362786-8116633508603353349-o/ I noticed this on the header of the site, in the gallery. Looks kind of like the Russian Yak trainer, it has AA-11s on the wingtips, but it also has Mavs on the pylons. Is this an original design, a 'what-if', or is it a new trainer design from an aviation firm we haven't seen yet? Pretty cool, like something marketed for an air force on the cheap. Whoever's it is, good luck and keep up the good work. Hope we see it soon.
  14. I don't hate anyone and certainly not someone I've never met personally. The topic seemed important, and rather than cause a stir, I simply removed the post and apologized. If nothing else, this has served to remind me of something very simple. This is just a video game. So, no worries. I'm not angry or anything.
  15. I have removed my posts from this thread so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities and I have also apologized for my behavior to ThirdWire via FB. Have a good day.
  16. I remember that. AC5 came with the Hori flight HOTAS. It was awesome, it almost made me buy a PS2. If my TMaster T16000M HOTAS works on the PS4, that'll be the platform I buy the game for. Aside from, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Combat Air Patrol 2 knocks it out of the park.
  17. I see TK has returned to PC game development (cough, snicker...)... And it'll look better. Probably let you even use a real joystick.
  18. Not that easy, or at least I don't think it is. Can't find the operation for reordering it. Again, the water comes out fine, it's the land that's the problem.
  19. Yeah, you're going to have to do that every time in the single mission editor. I don't think it can do it otherwise. The only way the single mission editor can place a carrier natively is if you have SF2NA.
  20. Okay, you're going to have to go 'old school' and use baffmeister's instructions. I haven't done that in so long, I'm not sure I'd get it right. There's also a set of instructions for adding carriers in the old SFP1 Knowledge Base that I know works. Look at the planning map of Israel and check out what coordinates would put a carrier in the water and just do trial-and-error until you get it in the water. I'll try to noodle through it on my end.
  21. That might be his best option. I have one I made, but the one from the '48-'56 Expansion works pretty darn good. LOL. Didn't even think to ask, "Hey, do you have North Atlantic?"
  22. Pretty much. It detracts from the game's atmosphere, but it doesn't affect gameplay.
  23. 1000x's.
  24. Okay, so what it looks like I need to do is either add a second runway or remove that other ground platte that isn't inside the angle of the existing runways.
  25. I'm going through each of the airports right now and arranging a few things. I didn't want any two to be exactly alike. Or completely stock. Here's a look at what I mean. This is Istanbul Ataturk Int'l. I wanted it to reflect its' civilian/military role and to look more like the logistics hub it is. I'm planning on adding Athens International in a while and doing the same. Once I'm happy with the AD & EW sites, I'll start on the locations that would be the strategic nodes for campaign play.
