SF/WO* Sound Mods

Sound Mods to enhance Strike Fighters/WOV/WOE/First Eagles

84 files

  1. Mission start on carriers: You will now hear flight deck communications.

    FINAL ver.1.0 : Complete with underlying noise and added additional voice.

    I've included modded stock WOV soundlist ini. to include as follows:

    SoundFile0XX=CVNAmbient
    SoundFile0XX=CVNMovement

    Original sounds were provided with Digital Overload CVN-75 which is available here:

    http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?download=1788

    You must change any/all carrier addons or stock as per below in the respective carrier data.ini

    [sound]
    EngineSoundName=CVNAmbient
    MovementSoundName=CVNMovement

    Stock data.ini can be extracted via SFP1 extract utility.

    CVNAmbient.WAV Goes into sounds folder

    Soundlist.ini Goes into flight folder

    MUCH THANKS TO DIGITAL OVERLOAD!!!

  2. Final: Changed sequence and cleaned up a bit (removed various tone sounds to lessen confusion with ingame tones). Now includes Stock Soundlist.ini with adjustments to it for this mod. Already in proper folders so unzip-drag and drop and it will overwrite.

    2.0 UPDATE: Longer 23 minutes worth

    This replaces stock windloop with 23 minutes of actual vietnam/modern era communications. Gives the game a really cool feel while in flight.

    Changes needed in respective aircraft data.ini which need to be extracted via SFP1 extractor located in D/l utilities section.

    EXAMPLE: A-4B Data.ini
    [sound]
    EngineSoundName=A4Engine
    AfterburnerSoundName=
    DamagedEngineSoundName=Planefire
    FlapsSoundName=Flaps
    AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes
    GearsSoundName=Gear
    WindSoundName=windloop <----- This line needs to be added in aircraft data.ini

    NOTE: Engine noise may overshadow this sound...you will need to decrease volume level for all engine sounds including afterburner.

    This can be done with sound recorder which is included in windows...it can be found under start/programs/accessories/entertainment. Open the engine sound and decrease volume level to your liking then save.

    As always backup originals in case you don't like it.

  3. UPDATE: Equalized all wav. files volume level was uneven throughout. Changed HangarRadio1 to general AFVN radio broadcasts.

    New John Phillip Sousa's
    USN
    USMC
    USAF

    New menu sounds for WOV also includes pilotscreen comical interview with fictional Air Force pilot during that era. Mix of Vietnam era music from my personal collection.

    Unzip into sounds folder and thats it. Backup originals in case you don't like this selection.

    NOTE: Air Force interview is colorful to say the least.

  4. This file represents 2 minutes and 33 seconds of chatter between a flight of Soviet fighters and their controller as they are vectored in to engage a flight of enemy aircraft (dodging SAMs in the process ). It should add a least a smidgen of immersion to your SF experience while you're out tearing around in your favorite MiG or Sukhoi product.

  5. Recent post by USAFMTL pointed to the sound files listed in the _data.ini for the (Mirage Factory) F/A-18A as a possible source of CTDs in WoE.

    I'd been getting the dreaded black screen and CTD when hitting ESC to exit an F-18 mission. It didn't happen every time, but enough...

    Rather than just point the _data.ini to other sound files, I opened them in a sound editor and reformated them to 16bit/11kHz, matching the default sound files in the game.

    (Other add-on sound files are in other formats, and don't seem to cause a problem, but none of them match up with the F-18 sound file formats.)

    Tested these sound files... haven't had a CTD yet. Can't guarantee it's "the answer", but here are for testing.

    Just unzip and put them in \Sounds folder, replacing the files that are already there.

  6. Soviet Sounds Readme

    ================================

    1. this is a bunch of .wav engine files that I had laying around.
    I tried to match these as closely as possible to the film clip
    sounds from Soviet fighters on some old Wings episodes I had on
    VHS. The sounds may not be exact, but they are reasonably close.

    2. Try these .wavs for :

    Fishbed-C = J-7 series, Type 74, Type 76, Type 77, MiG-19, F-6
    Fishbed-L = For the advanced MiG-21MF & above, Chinese J-7 III 9 J-7C/D )
    Flogger = Flogger Family
    Frogfoot = Su-15s & Su-25 ( When it's released )
    Bear = For Pasko's Tu-95
    Sukhoi = Su-7, Su-9, Su-11, Su-17
    Beagle = IL-28, H-5 series, MiG-15, MiG-15bis, MiG-17 Family
    Foxbat = MiG-25 Family
    Fulcrum = MiG-29 Family
    Badger = Tu-16s, H-6, Tu-22s

    3. TO INSTALL : simply drop the .wav file into your Strike Fighters or
    WOV Sounds folder, Then in the aircraft data.ini, scroll down to the
    [sound] section and change to the .wav that you want to use. Expample
    is for a MiG-15UTI

    [sound]
    EngineSoundName=JetEngine < < < CHANGE THIS TO : Beagle
    AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner
    DamagedEngineSound=
    FlapsSoundName=Flaps
    AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes
    GearsSound=Gear

    4. Hopefully, these will add more spice to your SFP1/WOV experience
    until such time as a more accurate set of Soviet Sounds is released.

    Enjoy!

  7. This effect attempts to faithfully reproduce the smaller, "basketball" sized flak bursts created by Soviet-issue 37mm and 57mm Anti Aircraft guns, as well as associating a unique sound event with the effect.

  10. This is a re worked IR Growl Lock sound file. It will allow you to hear when you are locked on to an enemy plane with IR missles much easier. Works MUCH better than the original (in my opinion). It has increased my kill ratio in game.

    Enjoy!

  11. These are some enhanced engine sounds for Strike Fighters and WoV. If you have a subwoofer connected to your computer, these are a must have. They have a lot of rumble to them. I've also included some F-104 sounds as well.

  12. Unique RWR (RADAR Warning Receiver) sounds for use on any Soviet aircraft in SFP1 or WoV.

  13. First beta sound pack, made by STP (Sound Team Project) for SF1 (and can possibly be used in VOW as well).
    1,022 0
  14. 11/26/2004

    This soundpack is meant to supersede my previous soundpacks (sfp1_spv1 & sfp1_spv2), and is specifically tailored for, and was tested on, Wings Over Vietnam with Service Pack 1, and Strike Fighters with Service Pack 3.

    What's new in this version? Correct tracer colors for WoV, new tracer colors for Nato MG's, more intense flak effects, adjusted volumes (hoooray!), new sounds for: all stock MiGs, A-4s, NR-30 cannon.

    Installation Notes: Before you begin, I strongly suggest that you have Skypat's SFP1E extraction utility (available at http://www.checksix-fr.com/ ), and familiarize yourself with its operation. You're going to find it indispensable!

    TO INSTALL: simply extract the contents of this zip file into your Strike Fighters or WoV folder. That's all!

    Warning: It will overwrite the following files (if you have them). Please back up the following, by dragging them to a safe place on your system:

    1) Your entire "sounds" folder.
    2) In your flight folder, backup your "soundlist.ini"
    3) In your objects folder, backup your "gundata.ini"

    If you don't find the last two, don't worry, you're just running a default installation

  23. WW2 RAF Speech Pack v1.0
    Compiled by baltika

    Courtesy of Microprose's European Air War
    and Jane's WW2 Fighters

    Thanks to Deuces for his Wingman Sound Mod which inspired the bandit calls in this mod.

    Installation:-

    Contents of "Speech" folder go into your Strike Fighters/Speech folder, overwriting existing files.

    SPEECHSYSTEM.INI file goes in your SF/Flight Folder.

    Backup your Speech folder first if you think you might want to go back to your Yankee wingmen ;-)

    Known issues:-

    There are a few anomalies, as exact matches for every phrase were not available.

    In particular, wind direction and heading calls are borked in this mod. Instead, you get Jane's wonderfully bad-tempered Control Tower telling you to get a move on and clear the runway. This may sound odd when you are coming in to land, but just imagine he's chewing someone else out to let you belly-flop your badly shot-up Spit onto the main runway.

    Also, TK's call-sign system is incredibly detailed and could not be re-created properly with the resources available. If Top Hat Control (none of your Red Crown nonsense here) answers Red One by calling him Victoria Leader, I'm afraid you'll just have to live with it. Or, you could start recording all 140 call signs in six different but appropriately accented voices. Then name the resulting files accordingly to fit into TK's scheme. If you think it's worth the effort ;-)

    And do Fence Check, Rifle and Shotgun belong in WW2? If so, what do they mean?
    Come to think of it, what do they mean anyway?

    As ever, feedback, bug-reports, suggestions welcome.

    I'll be lurking around at combatace.

    Tally-ho, chaps! Jerry at nine o'clock low! Let's get those blighters!

  25. A more realistic growl for your IR missiles. If you're SURE you hear it, you're locked on!

    Taken from actual gun camera video and soundtrack, and lovingly washed and mangled into place!
