    1. 3rdW P-51 Decals and Ini Tweek Pak

3rd Wire SF2 P-51D, USAF Decal Fix, and Data ini Tweeks

      =For SF2, Full-4 Merged Installs and/or SF2:I, with Expansion Pak 1=

This VERY small mod to the P-51D from SF2 Expansion makes a couple of changes to the stock USAFSilver1 skin, adding the tail tag to the vert fin, and NationName to the wings, as is Historically Correct ™ after October, 1947.

The data ini tweeks add a landing light, the 3 formation lights under the starboard wing, and activate the canopy via a manual animation key (shift/0).

A ww2 pilot figure is included, as I used this figure in the data ini. More appropriate figures would be either of Deigo's USAF50s figures, as by 1948, USAF pilots had done way with the soft leather helmets, and were using the new 'bone domes'. These ARE reccomended replacements.

Full, easy to follow instructions are included. You =WILL= be adding a new pilot folder, and a new sub-folder to the game's main /Decals folder for the "U.S. AIR FORCE" tail tag decal.
As always, it's reccomended you read this document through before installing. It's actually QUITE simple, for a change!! <grin>

      Happy Landings!

    6. Spitfire MkI, No.54 Sqn RAF, May 1940

Spitfire MkI, No.54 Sqn, Royal Air Force, Hornchurch, May 1940

Operating from Hornchurch in Essex, No.54 was one of the Fighter Command squadrons tasked with defending the BEF and Royal Navy in Northern France, especially during Operation Dynamo, the withdrawal from Dunkirk. At this time, the squadron was led by S/L James Leathart, and included two Pilot Officers from New Zealand who were to make quite a name for themselves, namely Alan Deere and Colin Gray. Alan Deere's autobiography "Nine Lives" is well worth reading, and gives a clear idea of what it was like to be one of the Few, before, during and after the Battle.

The markings are typical of the period and include the fin flash and underwing roundels which were used at the time only on those Home-based aircraft operating over the French mainland. Black-and-white undersides were replaced by Sky according to AM Signal X915 of 6th June 1940, although it would be mid-August at the earliest before significant quantities of this new shade were generally available.

Serial numbers given in the menu list correspond to aircraft used by 54 Squadron during May 1940. In common with a number of fighter squadrons in 1939 and early 1940, however, 54 Sqn painted out the serial numbers on the aircraft, and the corresponding decals are therefore not included in this pack. Where a pilot has been identified as having flown a particular aircraft (The Royal Air Force did not attribute aircraft to particular pilots, although many did tend to have their favourites) that pilot has been listed in the menu.

For use ONLY with SF2 including the Israel Expansion Pack. This will NOT work if you do not have the stock TW Spitfires installed and working.

Includes 2048 and 1024 size skin sheets.

    7. Spitfire MkI, No.19 Sqn RAF, October 1938

Spitfire MkI, No.19 Sqn, Royal Air Force, Duxford, Autumn 1938

The first operational RAF Spitfire was K9787 which arrived at Duxford airfield on 4th August 1938, followed by K9792 on 16th. 19 Squadron was tasked with getting up to 400 hours as quickly as possible onto these two airframes, in order to test the Spitfire's long-term serviceability. Other than some trouble caused by weak undercarriage legs, there was very little to report, other than a number of cases of a phenomenon called "Spitfire knuckle" - sometimes severely grazed on the inside of the fuselage while pumping the undercarriage up!

These initial batches of Spitfires were finished on the uppersurfaces in the Temperate Land Scheme of Dark Earth and Dark Green, with Aluminium undersides. (It is worth noting that in the RAF, aircraft are systematically painted with Aluminium paint rather than left natural metal.) Unfortunately the SF game engine does not allow for specular layers, and so the undersides appear simply pale grey. The Type A1 roundels were soon replaced by more sombre blue-and-red B Types. Finally, the figure '19' in flight colours on the tailfin was applied only briefly, possibly only for a series of air-to-air photographs taken on 31st October 1938. Underwing serials were carried in the normal way.

Serial numbers given in the menu list correspond to aircraft used by 19 Squadron during late 1938 and early 1939.

    8. Spitfire MkI, No.66 Sqn RAF, 1939

Spitfire MkI, No.66 Sqn, Royal Air Force, Duxford, September 1940

Operating from Duxford, No.66 was the second squadron after No.19 to convert to the Spitfire in November 1938. During early 1939, the highly coloured Type A1 roundels on the fuselage and mainplanes (see my 19 Sqn 1938 Spitfire) were toned down and replaced by more discreet Type B markings as here. Squadron codes were initially "RB" but during the reshuffle which took place in the course of 1939, these became the "LZ" codes which were subsequently carried throughout the War.

The markings are typical of the period from early 1939 up until early 1940; although the uppersurfaces roundels remained of Type B until late in the War, fuselage roundels changed yet again at the beginning of 1940 to move back to red-white-and-blue Type A roundels. Black-and-white undersides were replaced by Sky according to AM Signal X915 of 6th June 1940. In common with many of the early Spitfires which were delivered with undersides painted Aluminium, this aircraft's ailerons were left in aluminium paint when the black-and-white scheme was applied. This was ostensibly to prevent "balancing problems" and is commonly seen on many fighter types of the immediate pre-War period.

Serial numbers given in the menu list correspond to aircraft used by 66 Squadron during 1939.

For use ONLY with SF2 including the Israel Expansion Pack. This will NOT work if you do not have the stock TW Spitfires installed and working.

    9. Spitfire MkIIa, No.308 (Polish) Sqn RAF, 1941

Spitfire MkIIa, No.308 (City of Krakow) Sqn, Royal Air Force, Baginton, May 1941

No.308 Squadron was the among first of the Polish fighter squadrons to be equipped with the Spitfire while based at Baginton in March 1941. This made the Poles the first Free Air Force to use the aircraft - a fitting tribute given the way they had performed during the later part of the Battle of Britain; No.303 (Kosciuszko) Sqn for example claimed more German aircraft shot down than any other Hurricane squadron - despite joining the Battle only at the end of August. The Poles, for whom the RAF was their third home after their own Air Force in 1939 and the French Air Force in 1940, had a reputation for extremely aggressive flying which the RAF did not altogether understand - but their results were eloquent, and they were given the Spitfires they craved.

The markings carried in the late spring of 1941 included the Sky 'Fighter Command' band and spinner introduced in December 1940 and returned to the all-Sky undersides again after a brief period from December to April when the port wings of fighter aircraft were once again painted black. At this time, the spinner and band were in fact generally painted not Sky but Sky Blue for some reason; the correct Sky colour appeared more generally in the second half of 1941.

Serial numbers in this pack correspond to aircraft used by 308 Squadron during May 1941, although many of these aircraft were on strength only for some days, for obvious reasons.

For use ONLY with SF2 including the Israel Expansion Pack. This will NOT work if you do not have the stock TW Spitfires installed and working.

    10. Spitfire MkVb, No.401 Sqn RAF, 1942

Spitfire MkVb, No.401 (Canadian) Sqn RAF, Gravesend, May 1942

Originally No.1 Sqn RCAF, the squadron became operational on Hurricane at Northolt in August 1940 after a period of in-theatre training. After the Battle of Britain, in which it was reasonably successful, it was moved to Prestwick in Scotland. Shortly after returning to the South to Digby in February 1941, it was renumbered to No.401 to avoid confusion with No.1 Sqn RAF. Spitfire MkIIs replaced the Hurricanes in September 1941, and were themselves replaced by MkVbs before the end of 1941. These aircraft remained until their replacement, in turn, with the new MkIX in the course of the late summer of 1942, making 401 one of the first squadrons to operate the MkIX. In October 1941, 401 had moved from Digby to Biggin Hill, carrying out offensive sweeps over Northern France.

Serial numbers in this pack correspond to MkVb aircraft used by 401 Squadron during 1942, although many of these aircraft were on strength only for some days, for obvious reasons. Where a pilot has been identified as having flown a particular aircraft (The Royal Air Force did not attribute aircraft to particular pilots, although many did tend to have their favourites) that pilot has been listed in the menu. Aircraft of note are Pilot Officer Don Blakeslee's BL753 'H' and Pilot Officer Don Morrison's BM373 'F'. Aircraft appearing in the menu without an asterisk carry the correct individual letter for that aircraft.

This Ocean Grey/Dark Green/Medium Sea Grey Day Fighter Scheme was introduced wef August 1941, although its implementation lasted up until at least the end of 1941. This original shade of Ocean grey, not to be confused with the shade standardised in mid-1942, was ordered to be mixed from seven parts Medium Sea Grey to one part Night and applied on-squadron. In practice, while it could vary wildly, it was generally darker than the later, factory-produced shade, and lacked the blueish hue. It is typical of the period running from late 1941 until the autumn or even winter of 1942.

For use ONLY with SF2 including the Israel Expansion Pack. This will NOT work if you do not have the stock TW Spitfires installed and working.

    11. P-51D Mustang, RAAF, 77 Squadron

      P-51D, RAAF, 77 Squadron Skin/Decal Pak

      =For SF2, Full-4 Merged Installs =WITH= Expansion Paks 1 & 2 (reccomended!)

*Please Note: Exp2 added several new nations to the userlist, and LOTS of decals for the Mustang. I do not know if this pak will work otherwise (meaning: with Exp 1 only). You are, of course, encouraged to test on your own*

This pak contains a skin & decal set replicating CA-18 Mustang Mk.20s from RAAF 77 Squadron from 1948-1951, during the Occupation of Japan and during the Korean War. The serial numbers are 100% historicaly accurate for those airframes assigned 77 Sqdn during that time frame (some actually didn't participate in Korea, as they suffered some attrition due to various and sundry malfunctions). Number randomization has been activated, so make sure you're at LEAST at the June,2011 patch level.

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them ....

    12. Spitfire MkIXe S-89, Czech Air Force, late 1940s

Spitfire MkIXe S-89, 10th Air Regiment, Czech Air Force, Praha-Kbely, 1949

When the Free Czech squadrons of the RAF (Nos. 310, 312, 313) returned to Czechoslovakia after the end of the War, they took their aircraft with them, specially repainted in Czech colours before their departure from RAF Manston. These aircraft were supplemented by a number of others bought from Britain, but with the arrival of the Communists in power in 1947, the S-89 as the Spitfire was known locally fell out of favour and was phased out in favour of Soviet types. Many Czech Spitfires were sold on to the new State of Israel.

VMF-112, F4U-1D Corsair, USS Bennington 1945 Skin Pak

      == For WW2 PTO SF2, Any and All ==

*Note: can be used in any PTO centric install, and probably will work in 1stGens as well*

A new skin for Wolf257's Corsair; to be used with my F4U-1D mod available here at CA at the following URL:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/1532-f4u-1d-corsair/

This represents F4U-1D Corsairs as flown frum USS Bennington in the later months of the war.
Decal randomization is set to TRUE (which won't work if used in 1stGen installs, but what the hey, right?)
Also included is a 90%-ish SF2 compliant FM in/on/part of the enclosed data ini*, a new 'main ini' (F4U-1D.ini), and an SF2 Userlist.ini (as USMC is considered a 'Seperate Nation' for Export Purposes ™). It's advised other USN/USMC Corsairs have the necessary lines added, year adjusted and use this new userlist.

As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. This package has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs, to make it a LOT easier to install (read: drag and drop).

    15. SF2 Korean War Era P-51D Mustangs

SF2 Korean War Era P-51D Mustangs

      = For SF2, Full-5 Merged, =WITH= SF2:I Expansion Pak 1 (Required) =

Note: you MUST have SF2:I Expansion Pak 1 to make use of this mod, as it references the
stock 3rd Wire P-51D. If you do not meet this requirement, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS MOD, as you
will be unable to use it. This mod pak is also designed with a 'stand alone' KAW mods
folder, although it can be used in full-merged.

This pak contains 4 reskins for the 3W Mustang, for units/squadrons during the Korean War.
      This pak includes:

      12th FBS, 18th FBG, USAF
      2 Squadron, SAAF "Flying Cheetahs"
      77 Squadron, RAAF
51st PFS (Provisional Fighter Squadron), ROKAF

The 12th and 51st skins reference the stock Mustang serial numbers; on the ROKAF Mustang,
#18 carries 100% accurate 'nose art' for Col. Dean Hess. 2 & 77 Squadrons have 100%
historic serial number decals. Decal randomization is set to TRUE for all skins. All skins
are in bmp format, making them usable in all versions of SF2 (although the latest patch
      level is HIGHLY suggested)

Also included is a modified data ini with 100% correct lighting. The canopy opens/closes
with the Usual Suspect ™ keystroke, Shift/0. A new main ini (P-51D.ini) is supplied,
with the 12th FBS skin moved up to the #1 position. A new Merlin engine sound is included.
All weapons used are stock, availble from the SF2I Exp1 upgrade.

As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So,
please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. All screenshots herein were
taken over the KAW Korea terrain; coming soon.

    16. SF2 WW2 SB2C-1 Helldiver Tweeks Pak

      SF2 WW2 SB2C-1 Helldiver Tweeks Pak

-- Something for the PTO players --
      = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =

Some tweeks, and a new skin for Veltro2K's recently released Curtiss SB2C-1 "Helldiver" WW2 USN dive bomber. It is to be applied to the aircraft package available at the following url:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13772-curtiss-sb2c-1-helldiver/

This pak contains a brand new 3-tone camo skin and 'generic' modex number decal set. The skin iteself can be also considered generic, as all units, when the Helldiver first entered service, were painted in the 3-tone. Some, including -3 & -4 models, carried it until VJ-Day. However, after late 43/early 44, the "G" system of Air Group marking came into being. This pak does NOT contain any G-system markings. They can easily be added via decals ini tweeking. And probably will be, as time permits :) .

Included are Tweeked Data, loadout, and main inis as well as Sounds; weapons are NOT included. (excepting the drop tank). A brand NEW SF2-stye 'flight deck' hangar screen is.
The skin is in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. It contains the Change List.

VB-85, USS Shangri-La (both in Dark Gloss Navy Blue, post-Jan 1944)

    19. SF2_P-51_ETO_Pack

Here you have a collection of generic skins representing various squadrons that operated the North American P-51D/K Mustang during WWII.
They are NOT 100% accurate and definitely NOT perfect since camoflage and/or markings patterns differed from plane to plane within the same squadron, therefore
the term "generic" (constructive criticism will be accepted, however, rivet-counters, nit-pickers and haters in general, well, you can talk amongst yourselves).
The idea being to give you the chance to fly your favorite Mustang squadron and rack-up your own kills, and for that porpuse I've also included a set of "kill"
markings for both japanese and german kills.
Initially it was going to be a more accurate list but due to an increased work load I no longer have the time to go thru the process of creating and matching serials
and individual markings to each aircraft.
Some of the squadrons make use of the stock Mustang serial numbers and other stock numbers modified by me.
Also, for the Mustang Mk. IV camo I've used the stock israeli camo while I work on a correct one for the British ponies.
You must have the following for this pack to work:
      1. Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 1 installed to get the P-51.
      2. WWII Nations.ini
      3. WWII Formation.ini
      4. WWII weapons pack
Also, you'll need to update your squadron list.

The squadron list goes as follows:
      Europe 1944 - 1945
      P-51D Mustang
      4th FG
      - 336th FS
      31st FG

    20. SF2 WW2 B-24J PTO Skins/Decals Pak

      SF2 WW2 B-24J PTO Skins/Decals Pak

-- Something for the PTO players --
      = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =

A new set of Theatre-specific skins for the B-24J Liberator by pasko.
It is designed for use on the recenly release SF2-ish B-24J mod, available at the following
      url:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13846-sf2-ww2-b-24j-liberator-eto-pak/

Obviously, you'll NOT be using the ETO skins in the Pacific.

Skins included in this pak are:
      320 BS, 90th BG (OD/Grey), 5th AF - Jolly Rogers
371 BS, 307 BG (Natural Metal) 13th AF - The Long Rangers

The skins are brand new, from my Home Grown Template ™, and is in jpg format.Decal
randomization is set to TRUE. There are NO nose arts.
Serial numbers on 320th are 'generic' in nature, but represent J models. Serials marked with a
      * (star) on the 371st ARE actual aircraft assigned to that squadron. Unfortunately, the only
listing I found was for aircraft 'lost on operations'. Remember that, and Honor Their Memory.

As these skins =ARE= Theatre specific to the Pacific regions, you'll have to do some editing
after installing to the B-24J in your PTO-centric mods folder, and remove or rename the ETO/MTO
      skins.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please
read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a glance

    22. SF2 WW2 SB2C Helldiver, "Blank" Skin Pak

      SF2 WW2 SB2C Helldiver, "Blank" Skin Pak 9/12/2013

      - For SF2 WW2 and Whenever Players -

This pak contains a set of 3 "blank" markingless skins for Veltro2K's Helldivers. They are:

      SB2C-1:

      Standard 3-tone
(note: the -1 uses a different -s map due to the 3 bladded prop)

      SB2C3 thru 5:

      Standard 3-tone
      Overall Dark Gloss Navy Blue

(The enclosed screenshot is a -5 in 3-tone. All others are identical to those already available, but minus the US Star-bar)

As stated, there are NO national or squadron markings (ie: for USN use) of any kind. This will allow skinners (and WhatIfers) to create/recrate the various squadron and national markings via decal placement. With the several skins out already, decal placement locations have pretty much all been pre-plotted. A decent skinner should easily be able to figure out any others.

As always, fairly simple install instructions are included. So, please read them.

REMINDER: these are skin maps ONLY!!! YOU will have to build the other required inis and decals.

      Happy Skinning!

    23. SF2 WW2 PTO P-40N, USAAF (SWPA) Skinpak

      SF2 WW2 PTO P-40N, USAAF (SWPA) Skinpak 9/14/2013

-- Something for the WW2 PTO players --

      = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) =

*Note: this pak MAY be usable in 1stGen SF/Wo* game installs. However, some features
(decal randomization, DDS damge textures, destroyed model, etc) will be NOT
functional. Use in 1stGens has not, and cannot be, tested by me.*

**Notex2: this mod is designed for use ONLY in a PTO-Centric mods folder**

A new skin for Raven's P-40N, a "generic" representation of USAAF P-40Ns in SoWesPac
Theatre (read: New Guinea). Although the "Displayed Name" on the Loadout Screen will
say "7th FS, 49th FG" (the Bunyaps), they are to be considered a bit more generic than
Squadron Specific. Even though the individual plane-in-group numbers fits those of the
      7th's usage.

Skins remain in their bmp format.
New DDS damage textures (usable on all Raven's Warhawk/Kittyhawk in SF2 only) are
      included.
A slightly modified data ini, with some flight model tweeks, and switching to the
AvHistory engine sound. So, be prepared to back up some inis for saftey!!! A new
textureset ini for the "Bare Metal" skin is included, that adds Decal Randomization
for SF2. A new userlist ini was created, for the Export Customers.
All markings are decals, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Also, via the use of my
(patent pending) Fake SqTail decal, the squadron name display is now active on the
      Loadout Screen.

No weapons are included, except SF2 Versions of the new drop tanks (for those that
haven't converted them yet). New theatre-specific Hangar and Loading screens are
      included, too.

The skins have been run through the template (thank you Raven for that!), and have had
a layer of dirt and 'clouds' added for weathering. They're still not dirty enough for
      my taste, but it's something!!

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included.
      PLEASE read them!!

    24. SF2 WW2 F-6D (RF-51D) Mustang Skin/Decal Pak

      SF2 WW2 F-6D (RF-51D) Mustang Skin/Decal Pak 12/05/2013

      -- Something for the WW2 players --

      = For SF2 =ONLY=, Full-5 Merged, plus ExPak 1 (Reccomended/Preferred) =

*Note: must have the SF2I Expansion Pak (whichever one gave us the Mustang) in your Merged Installs, due to this aircraft referencing the Stock 3rd Wire Mustang serial number decals*

A simple reskin for the KAW Era RF-51D, creates a "Plane Jane" F6D Mustang for WW2 usage. The aircrat has no squadron or other type of markings. This makes it usable in any theatre. However, it should be noted, SOME units did have their own markings. Consider THIS skin for exactly what it is: Generic ™

To be used on the KAW RF-51D; the aircraft is available at the following URL:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13518-sf2-kaw-rf-51d-mustang/

Like the original, it uses DDS textues, and will NOT work in any 1stGen game installs at all.
This skin uses the "StartDefaultDate=" statement, so as to start in 1944 (aircraft's default in service year).
National markings are painted on; decal randomization (for the serials) is TRUE

      When in game, you'll see:

      "Natural Metal (WW2)

on the skin selection drop down menu.

REMINDER: you MUST have the RF-51D installed BEFORE installing this skinpak. See "To Insall" for more details

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!
