Cockpit background comms sounds.
By Sundowner
This is a little in cockpit sound mod I've been using to replace the stock sounds, I feel it adds a little extra immersion by adding background radio comms to the cockpit environment..
With the appropriate comms you can set up virtually any aircraft from any nation to play background sounds in the language of your choice, this pack uses RAF/US comms but other languages can easily be added by the end user following my examples.
Sorry , but reading the readme is a must with this mod.
You WILL need to BACKUP some of your files first. !!

Strike Fighters 2: Sounds (+)
By Brennus
Strike Fighters 2: Sounds (+) is a default sound replacement project that has expanded to include unique engine and mechanical (Gear, Flaps, ...) sounds for various default aircraft for Strike Fighters 2, Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Strike Fighters 2: Israel, and Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic. The focus of the project is to re-create a realistic cockpit environment, however, since the engine doesn't (?) support multiple audio environments (Internal vs External), this may negatively affect the external environment as a consequence.
The download contains a small program by the name of JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) which can enable or disable the mod when used correctly. It's optional but highly recommended.
The Saved Games folder should be extracted to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)". If you don't wish to use the JSGME program simply copy the various folders from the folder "MODS" (Flight, Objects, Sounds) and paste them to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2", or your custom "Saved Games" folder of choice.
I have also included optional radio chatter that replaces the default "Windloop" w/ radio chatter from various sources. This can be enabled via JSGME, or manually as described above.

Sidewinder lock tone
By aube
Again inspired by some older flight sims, I decided to make a Sidewinder lock tone that's actually a tone. Using A-10A HUD footage as a template, I was able to create what I feel is a reasonable replica. There is certainly no mistake when I have a solid lock now! It's most likely that this is more appropriate for modern aircraft, though I like it regardless just due to the clear difference between searching and lock tone.
Reference video; (tone at 25s)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=621RNJMunnU&t=24s
Example video; (tone at 3m45s)
Installation: Unzip IRGrowlLock.wav into the Sounds folder in your SF2 mods folder (by default C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[executable name]\Sounds)

JetEngine Replacement Sound
By liamp51
Hi all,
This is a new JetEngine.WAV file to replace the old stock JetEngine.WAV. I have taken two files and imported them into Audacity and edited the levels and such to create what I think is a more authentic, universal jet engine sound for all stock, and 3rd party aircraft. It has more bass, and sound more like your hearing the aircraft from about a 100 feet away, instead of 2-3. For the most part, you can't really hear the fan blades and whine of a turbojet from 100 or more feet away. It's more of a roar. I had been looking for a sound like this for awhile, but I finally made it my self. Drop in your Sounds folder and overwrite when asked.
Enjoy!
Credits-These two files were merged together to create the final product:
Guest-Strike fighters engine sounds-JetEngine
Spillone104-Jet Sounds 3+Weapons-TT-1full
Here is the recommended SOUNDLIST.ini entry for JetEngine:
[JetEngine]
Priority=NORMAL
3DSound=TRUE
DopplerEffect=FALSE
Looped=TRUE
FrequencyControl=TRUE
NumBuffers=4
MaxDist=3500.000000
MinDist=100.000000
InsideConeAngle=160
OutsideConeAngle=200
ConeOutsideVolume=30
