Hello, I just recently discovered Strike Fighters 2 and I am impressed by all these mods. I am especially looking forward to the dynamic campaign. My last flight sim was IL-2 (the original game) and I am likewise impressed about all these mods there as well.

Good day, New to the site. Have been a PC flight simulation enthusiast since the early 80's. I know, I'm old but still happy to be here!

Wrench is like 70 years old, and he's flown with the Wright Brothers after their maiden flight lol

Yup, flew with them on fight #5. Pretty windy on that kite!

That explains why you were put in charge of the Knowledge Base. I learn something new every day. :good:

off topic ..

many years ago, (late 90s??) Pat (the late mrs wrench) and I went to Witchia for the Women's National Bowling Tournment. They have (?) a nice tech and science museaum which included a "lay down" simulator of the Wright Flyer. It had the 2 sticks for the wing warp, and feet driven rudder bar. It was GREAT fun -- until I couldn't get it turned around and back to the Kittyhawk dunes. It's a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNG way to England, I'm here to tell!!!

Is the "Wright Experience" even available anymore from 3rd Wire???

the Wright Flyer B model at Fort Meyers, VA, round about September 1908

Ah, “First Flight”... 🤗

For many years, I searched for a link to this old game so I could download it for my collection of flight simulators - just to understand how the SF and FE series got their start. But I never found this game available for free anywhere - except for offers to buy a used CD. 😁

Thirdwire didn't release it, Birhle Applied Research did. TK did the environment, and Birhle did the flight modeling. TK told me the big thing for this sim was the addition of dynamic wind, so the glider could fly, having no engine for propulsion. Birhle does specialty flight simulation analysis for major corporations. I think it might be considered abandonware at this point. Their First Flight dedicated website is defunct. I did get a beta download of FFWE just before retail launch, and I noted a glaring historical error; the flag at Fort Meyers had 50 stars on it, so I sent them the correct 46 star version, and they included that in the sim. I did buy a retail disc as a collectors item. Birhle used my Himalaya terrain, and one other small map, I don't recall which, in their D-Six commercial software. If you look at their D-Six website, you can clearly see the signature SF airfield. FFWE was designed for Win98/2000/XP, but does run on my new Win11 machine, without too many issues.
