Flanker562 Posted Sunday at 12:54 PM Posted Sunday at 12:54 PM For the Strike Fighters link that's on the top right of the Forum listing page (Popular Destinations), should have either both SF1 and SF2, or maybe just SF2 since that's more popular than the old game. 4
daddyairplanes Posted Sunday at 04:12 PM Posted Sunday at 04:12 PM agreed. even just adding "1" to the current link would be helpful 1
Erik Posted Sunday at 05:35 PM Posted Sunday at 05:35 PM Way to pay attention. I thought for sure it would take a week for anyone to notice but 1.5 days, not bad. 3 3
Erik Posted Sunday at 09:26 PM Posted Sunday at 09:26 PM I fixed a bunch of little stuff today, images and colors on various themes, the downloads files feed on the right column of the forum where the images weren't clickable (been bugging me for ages), and redid our subscription images because they had a white border which looked funny on the darker themes. Work continues. 6
Flanker562 Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM Nice, it always helps. I've been staring at Arma 3 models most of the day, getting them setup for damage effects, and I got a lot to go through...
Erik Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Who wants to help me resurrect the screenshots we lost back in 2009 when the data center moved our /storage drive to a new machine and wiped it clean on install. That's downloads that show with no images need to be restored and there's only way to do it. Download each file that is missing images, open it, take new screenshots, then edit the file and put the new screenshots into place. I may be willing to bribe one or two people to help me.
Flanker562 Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Yeesh that's a LOT of screenies to take though, I mean this isn't a two person job, more like a team needs to do it rather than just "one or two". That and I'm limited to SF2 as well. Somebody needs to have SF1 to do that side of the Downloads. 1
Flanker562 Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Yeah looks like Saturday I can work on the SF2 section. I got the SF2 complete, so I'll be able to sequester the mods into one install, then delete it and such whenever I get done. This won't be a just one day operation though. 1
Erik Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Of course not, I would take a dozen files at a time and we'll work on this as we can. It's been broken for a decade, I don't think we're in any hurry. It's more a passion than necessity, at this point, and any help I get I am greatly appreciative of. In the meantime I'm searching old backups to see if any of the files can be recovered from data I don't know I have. After we moved this time and it broke our backup system I built a new one. We backup "soup to nuts", literally everything, nightly to the local /backup drive and remotely to a machine off site. Data loss isn't part of our vocabulary anymore even though the first ever event I experienced was not my fault nor could I have prevented it. Heck, if all else fails around here I build a GUI for our backup system and we go into business. 1
Wrench Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago most of the sf1 stuff just drops right in sf2. OTH, I do have WoV and WoE both on my machine --- so ... shouldn't be a big problem On and off for the last few years, I've been trying to 'fill in the blanks' of missing images on both SFs. I'll do what I can. 1
Wrench Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Slight update on that .... I forgot that 1stGens read ONLY ANSI, so for whomever starts on those, you'll have to convert BACK to ANSI from Unicode. Short story -- check the encoding! It's as easy "save as..." and select ansi for ALL the inis, including texture set and decals 1

That's a good way to look at it, given the amount of categories and such, so yeah I'll pace myself and such then. 1
