Wolf65 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I'm wondering which is the highest rank in WOE? Quote
+Typhoid Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I'm wondering which is the highest rank in WOE? I think its 4 stars. Hard to go higher than that...... Quote
Viggen Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I currently have 4 stars which makes me a General or Admiral or Air Chief Marshall. I hate it though. Quote
+FOTF Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I'm a Rear Admiral......whatever the hell that is Quote
+Typhoid Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 i've made 4 stars a couple of times and start over with a new name in a new campaign, load, etc. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Ditto Typhoid. 4 stars get retired. Have a new Captain running `round in NATO Fighters 2 currently. Quote
+Dave Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I am a 4 star and havent been retired. It takes forver to get that rank. Its the same pilot i started using in 2002. I just started a new one he is a new 1st Lt after my 5th mission. Quote

+Spectre_USA Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I don't mean the game retired him, I did. e usually just hits the range on occasion, if a new system comes out, or for refresher training. Quote

RunsWithScissors Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 (edited) Ah I gotcha, kind of wish the game wold retire him. Or maybe let you go to DC in a FPS mode & bitch-slap McNamara as a reward for living through the stupid RoE (for WoV, anyway) Edited September 20, 2007 by RunsWithScissors Quote

keith Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 In BoB I usually start out as Pilot Officer and quite quickly transfer to Ensign in my inflatable dingy... Quote
Wolf65 Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 So what do i need to get to the final rank, i'm currently a Lieutenant General. Quote
Viper6 Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Any of us that have flew well will get to full bird and above, but why is a 1,2,3,star Gen. flying missions? (lol) His ass should be in Washington some where. Quote
+JediMaster Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Right, Colonel should be the last one, although on occasion generals will fly for a specific purpose. Never in combat, though. Quote

(Gene Hackman played him in the movie) the loss of life to get one man was great, begs the question was it worth it? being a Ex-serviceman myself, "I'd do it for you man" comes to mind. Quote

+Crusader Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I changed the amount of points needed to get promoted, that way I stay a ensign or whatever much longer.... never checked how it affects the AI pilots in a campaign ( squadron flight roster), but I guess there arent any bad effects. They probably enjoy the same delayed promotion chain as I do the promotion points are int he MISSINCONTROL.ini, FLIGHT folder, MissionData.cat... iirc.. the stock entries look like this ( for SF:P1): [PR] SR001=0 SR002=5000 SR003=12000 SR004=25000 SR005=40000 SR006=75000 SR007=120000 SR008=160000 SR009=240000 SR010=360000 MR001=0 MR002=5 MR003=10 MR004=20 MR005=30 MR006=50 MR007=70 MR008=90 MR009=120 MR010=150 I guess that SR = Soldiers Rank MR = Mercenary Rank I haven't figured out why the MR values are lower, it could be that a different modifier is used by the game for them. No idea. I know that if I double the SR values it takes longer to get promoted, since I need twice as many points. Quote

Mannie Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Well, I don't know how many stars I have. all I know I'm a "Medal of honor decorated General." Cheers. <S> Quote
TX3RN0BILL Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Better than this I think is only "Tie Fighter" from the X-Wing series where one could achieve the rank of Grand Admiral and still be strapped in a Tie cockpit... Quote
Wolf65 Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) If you can poke around the file where the ranks are why not just remove everything above Colonel (or whatever is the highest active rank) and simply have it like that. Also, MannieB., is that the default menus for Strike Fighters, becouse it looks a lot better (and more in the theme) than WoE? Edited September 21, 2007 by Wolf65 Quote
