It says experimental rock but that's the same as trying to summarize an elephant with one footprint.

>Their website< with mp3 samples and lyrics archive. Quite disturbing... actually, no matter how light their music might sound at times ,the lyrics are always creepy. And I can't help linking their album "The Tower" to Pink Floyd's "The Wall".

The Hill

Michael couldn't understand

Why people shook him by the hand

When laughed at him and talked behind his back.

Michael didn't know the rules.

Abused, confused at all the schools

They sent him to - gave him the view to leave.

Michaels' got a gun.

Now he's living on the hill.

Watch the people run,

shooting down the kids at play.

He'll teach them all to stay away.

Mothers screaming, running round...

No-one laughs at Michael now!

Out the classroom window stood

A hill which made him feel so good.

He thought he'd like to have it as a home.

People never spoke to him.

Ignored, deplored, he got so bored.

He ran away and bought himself a gun.

Michael lay down in the sun.

Perhaps he'd put away the gun

If only they would leave him quite alone.

No-one heard his point of view,

The crowd of vigilantes grew

So Michael used the gun just one last time.

Hurt was from "The Downward Spiral," an album that came out over 10 yrs ago now.

It's not unusual for a cover of a song to be more popular than the original, though. Just look at Whitney Houston's cover of that Dolly Parton song for "The Bodyguard." I didn't think they'd ever stop playing it!!

Goddamn that was a good album! I really got into the Fragile too, pretty much most anything Trent produced since 92. The Broken EP was a blast!

Just curious, but are there any Nick Cave fans out there? I saw him again at the Thebby here in Radelaide and it was a killer performance again... his first song for the set was Red Right Hand! Love it!

I got into NIN after seeing them(him?) open up for David Bowie awhile ago during Bowie's "Industrial" period following Tin Machine.

I just started getting into Nick Cave. I've started getting these UK music magazines (MOJO and Q) and they have really turned me onto some music that I would never have discovered otherwise (such as Cave, The Jam, Jesus and Mary Chain, and a bunch of "Britpop" stuff that never really made to the US).

Right now I can't stop listening to the "Black Keys", a blues/rock duo from Akron, Ohio. They do really basic blues (just guitar and drums) but they do it really well (like a really good garage/ frat house band) and I've found myself addicted.

okay, really good music \o\

muhahahhaa

"No one dared to

Speak of the terrible danger

The hideous ancient warnings

Forged in the void of night

He is risen up out of the blackness chaos

The last of the prophets sinister

A sickening monstrous sight

Through the stifling heat

Underneath the pale green moon

I burned with a thirst

To seek things not yet seen

Climbing endless stairs

Leading to the choking room

Eager to explore

His most shocking mysteries

Drifting beyond all time

Out of a churning sky

Drawn to the beckoning light

Of the dark eternal night

Black forces

Rage in the vortex

Fighting

Waves of destruction

Swallowing

The echo of the universe

I am the last

Born of the blood of the pharaohs

The ultimate god of a rotting creation

Sent to unleash this curse

Restless crowds draw near

Nameless hooded forms appear

Amidst fallen ruins

Grotesque creatures battle

Shadowed on a screen

Yellow evil faces leer

Vacant monuments

Corpses of dead worlds left behind

Drifting beyond all time

Out of a churning sky

Drawn to the beckoning light

Of the dark eternal night

Trapped in a hellish dream

Spinning past worlds unseen

And frightfully vanishing

Into the dark eternal night

Drifting beyond all time

Out of a churning sky

Drawn to the beckoning light

Of the dark eternal night

Trapped in a hellish dream

Spinning past worlds unseen

And frightfully vanishing

Into the dark eternal night "
