+JediMaster Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 If you guys haven't heard it, you should definately pick up David Gilmore's recent album On An Island for more of his incredible guitar work. I was considering it, but I haven't had the chance to hear any tracks yet. Quote
tank03 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I was considering it, but I haven't had the chance to hear any tracks yet. It's quite good. A lot of mello, laid back guitar tunes, with Dave's signature awesome tone. Quote

Mannie Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) What? No Yngwie Malmsteen? Yes indeed Fates. Yngwie Malmsteen most certainly has a place in this hall of fame for guitar players. As for myself, well i find it hard to choose guitar solos I like. There are so many of them. Jimmys Stairway to heaven in "The song remains the same". I have not seen one who have chosen Eric Clapton. Leila, just to mention one of his great guitar solos. Did I miss Ritchie blackmores great solos from all eras? be it from Deep Purple, Rainbow or Blackmores Night? Dave Gilmour of course. Devedib Carlos Santana. Steve Howe. And where is the mighty Marc Knopfler??? Jeff Beck? Al Di Meola? Ted Nugent. The wonderful Brian May from Queen!!! Theres a lot more I could add. I love a good guitar solo when I hear one. Jimbib Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 (edited) forget...Slash solo in estranged! Now you're talking my friend, I saw Slash perform recently, towards the end of the Velvet Revolver tour, although I'm inclined to say that his live solo in Patience beats it. My top five would be: Jimmy Page - Stairway to Heaven from the Song Remains the Same DVD. Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways Don Felder & Joe Walsh - Hotel California from the Hell Freezes Over tour. Slash - Patience (using Godzilla) Eric Clapton - Sunshine Of Your Love Notable Others B.B. King - Thrill Is Gone Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover Joe Satriani - Super Colossal Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star Brian May - I Want To Break Free Edited May 25, 2008 by JimmyBib Quote
