kct Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Nice work there, can't wait to taste them. Quote
+ghostrider883 Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Thanks guys. Glad you like it . This is next: A Su-7 sporting one of those hastily pained camos during the 1971 war. While reading a book on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, I read something interesting. The reasons for high Su-7 losses by the IAF were attributed to 1. Multiple strafing runs & rocket attack passes on targets (something which the Su-7 was never meant to do). 2. Pilots being told not to jettison underbelly drop tanks as there was shortage of Su-7 drop tanks. Quote
Stratos Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Great skins!! Looking forward to fly them, but is not the threat about "pakistani" skins too?? We need targets!! Quote

+starfighter2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 BTW.... some 30+ years ago one of the first plastic kit models which I made was Su-7 - I love that big old plane  (First one was 35 years ago - F-104N (Nasa kite) and that was love at first sight). Quote

Like this ? Skin for Crab_02's PAF F-6A This F-6 wearing a desert camo scheme belonged to the No. 25 Squadron "Night Strike Eagles" . Some of the No. 25 Squadron F-6s participated in the 1971 War wearing this very color scheme and at least two of them - flown by Wing Commander Saad Hatmi (CO No. 25 Squadron) and Flight Lieutenant Shahid Raza - intercepted and shot down two IAF Hunters in the Soan valley near Sakesar hills. +ghostrider883 Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Had fun while trying to fix a bug in the skin..... Somewhere near Sakesar hills,Pakistan.... My flight spotted a lone Hunter heading towards the border after a strike mission. Manuevering for a shot... Good Tone!! Fox Two!!! Scratch One IAF Hunter.. Quote
+starfighter2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 The Su-7 barely had the range to hit targets in Pakistan without drop tanks. Yeah, I know about huge fuel consumption, just I... think that one human life is more important then 19 (supposed) Su-7 shoot down in 1971 war. If command was to "not to eject empty drop tanks" and in that way destroy planes and more important - pilots....huh men - that's bad thinkin' Quote
+starfighter2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 BTW....I saw much worse commands in mine war experience - huh men - that sucks Quote

If command was to "not to eject empty drop tanks" and in that way destroy planes and more important - pilots....huh men - that's bad thinkin' that was the dilemma faced by commanders those days. I guess the basic aim was not to lose excess drop tanks, as it may have ended up grounding the Su-7 attack fleet. There is a wonderful video on youtube shot by a BBC journalist during the 1971 war in EAst Pakistan that shows IAF Hunters attacking Dacca, and a Su-7 getting hit by AAA and cart-wheeling to the ground, with its pilot ejecting . Wrench Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Just so's everyone know, as Ghost has already asked me, Gepard's Indo-Pak map IS on my list to 'targetize'. I just don't know when I'll get to it... We've got damn near everything we need, planes, vehicles, ships, AD units, expecting a target rich environment. Wrench kevin stein Quote
+ghostrider883 Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) Ghost, those off my new 1024 templates?? They sure do look good!!! Wrench kevin stein Nope. I resized the stock MiG-19 256X256 skin to 512X512 and worked from there. The skin had been lying on my HD since April 13, 2006(the day it was created) I also have to make changes to the decals.ini for the unreleased MiG-21FL skin for your Type 77 Fishbed Update....the new lod has messed up decal locations all over. I had made those skins using howling1's v1.8 IAF Fishbeds. expecting a target rich environment. Wrench kevin stein Me too Edited September 5, 2008 by ghostrider883 Quote
