+Dave 2,322 Posted October 23, 2008 I got me a 60 GB video ipod for fathers day a couple years ago and I have a warning for you all. With the latest itunes, it might erase the damn thing after you load it with music etc. The problem seems to stem from a drive letter problem and I found the cure for it. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493 So far so good. But what a pain in the ass to load it again.

+malibu43 142 Posted October 23, 2008 Wow 463 80's songs, no repeats. Only got 3200 more songs to add..... Just out of curiosity, why not use the auto-sync feature or whatever it's called? Do you only want certain songs on there? I just keep my ipod sync'd with my itunes library, and that way if I want to update the ipod I just plug it in and walk away... I just keep my ipod sync'd with my itunes library, and that way if I want to update the ipod I just plug it in and walk away... I know that but itunes took a dump on me about 18 months ago and then fixed itself so now I got songs repeated all over the place. Would love nothing more than to start over but with all the songs I have bought etc, I do not want to lose anything.

Rambler 1-1 9 Posted October 24, 2008 my cheap J-capsule (windows pathetic copt of I-pod... get it?) may only have 4 GB of memory, but I can still listen to a couple hours worth of socially rejected songs with no repeats. Better yet, it's only crashed once! I have next to no 80's songs. All 70's, 90's and 00's exept for some AC/DC, Queen and some other timeless rock.
Syrinx 13 Posted October 24, 2008 I had an I-Pod nano which was great til it decided to throw itself into the washing up bowl. I've since bought a Philips 8gb GoGear which has been great. Quite a bit bulkier than the old nano but excellent sound quality.
speedbump 0 Posted October 24, 2008 I bought a Zune 120 about a month ago and I love it. It has a option to set the folder you want it to sync to. So anything in that folder syncs with it when plugged in. If you want to remove something, remove it from that folder. It does not even have to be plugged in to sync because it's wireless. It also plays WMA files and I have a ton of them. That iPod problem is pretty common. Drag and drop is the only way to go. I would flash that old iPod with Rockbox firmware and then you can drag and drop directly to the iPod. They just released a major upgrade change to their firmware so I would try it out. It's pretty easy to remove too if you don't like it. http://www.rockbox.org/download/

Does that rockbox let me use my i tunes play lists?
speedbump 0 Posted October 25, 2008 Not sure about the iTunes playlist. If you want, you can try this. http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ I think the culprit is I-tunes 8. Still no luck today. speedbump 0 Posted October 25, 2008 Also the Rockbox is a separate firmware. It makes your ipod dual boot. One is the old apple the other is rockbox. So the songs from apples side are not affected. One firmware can't see the other so songs on the apple side are separate from songs on the rockbox side. So you can play with the rockbox without messing up apple.
