MaverickMike Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Hi guys After a couple of months out of the game and this website i was just wondering if the desert storm mod has or is near to being completed. Please forgive me if i seem a bit ignorant if it has been released but i have had no internet for a few weeks and don't know how it is coming along. Any news would be much appreciated Mike

BattlerBritain Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Hey Wrench - glad you like 'Hot Fuzz'. It was filmed where I live My wife and kids are on the extras DVD with the opening night in Somerset. They're just behind the Directors shoulder as he's being interviewed, but only for a few seconds. It was quite something to have all the film crews here when they were making the film. It was even better seeing the film  I love the bit where they're having the gun battle behind the fish counter in Somerfields. Cracking! As for the bit where Simon Pegg tools up and rides into the Market Place - that's just great. All good stuff.
BattlerBritain Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 A good guide to where 'Hot Fuzz' was filmed is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells Note that they had to airbrush out the Cathedral as the 'Hot Fuzz' town is a town, not a City, and hence doesn't have a Cathedral.
BattlerBritain Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yeah - it's not bad. It's not far from Glastonbury (or Glaaaarstonbree as they say round here), so it can get a bit busy in the Summer when the Festival's on. It's a great place to bring up kids. The Schools are great and the countryside is right on the doorstep. It's also an hours drive from anywhere!
+wilco Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Ever fired your gun in the air and yelled, 'Aaaaaaah?'
BattlerBritain Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 'fraid not Would love to though, but the locals would take a dim view of it. The funny thing about 'Hot Fuzz' is that the Director is from Wells and the story really matches the story of Wells quite accurately, in that the City Councillors hate having anything modern in the City. There's no McD's, no Pizza Hut, no High Street stores that you see in virtually all towns and Cities in the Uk and elsewhere. The joke about being 'knee-deep in crusty jugglers' is right on the nail.
Canadair Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I thoguht I was amonf the few to have loved this movie,,it is hilarious
Sakai Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Gawd I love this movie, of the 12 movies or so i've actually bought (as opposed to rented) This is #2 behind the departed. I know how much fun it can be when people film movies in your town. "The Man without a Face" and "Message in a Bottle" were filmed here in the Bath area.
MaverickMike Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 Hot Fuzz is really good Love the way the topic in this post has gone from desert storm to hot fuzz LOL Mike

+JediMaster Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Growing up in Miami, I've seen many a film and TV show filmed in my home town. From the good (Miami Vice) to the bad (Holy Man) to the ugly (The Specialist). It loses its appeal after awhile! However, Shaun and HF are 2 of my favorite Brit (non Python) comedies. I can't wait to see what they do next. Oh, and I mean to check out their old series, Spaced, that I've never seen.
