ShinKazama88 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hey guys , prepare for a a great treat this 2009... We are currently working on a graphic novel or also known as an manga visual novel... Anyways the project is called: "The Strike Fighters" The series will be a mix of anime and game graphics... The story will not be canon to the SFP:1 timeline and story... Story and Hardware Set in the 1970s, the story covers the first weeks of the oil war between Paran and Dhimar. It will follow a squadron of merc pilots hired by the Dhimarian government, who are hastily building up their air force for the conflict. The mercs will be flying older aircraft like the A-1 Skyraider and the S-2 Tracker. Mostly commited for air-to-ground support missions, the mercs will tangle with Mig-17s and Mig-19s... Eventually the mercs will obtain A-4 Skyhawks and F-4 Phantoms... Meanwhile, the Dhimarian air force will fly with F-105s, F-104s and F-101s at the beginning in the series but will eventually upgrade to F-5 Tigers. The DAF focuses more on the air-to-air aspect of the war and are charged with CAP and Escort missions... The Paran Air Force consists of large numbers Mig-17s, three squadrons of Mig-19s and a squadron of Mig-21s (The Elites). The Paran initially commit air units for terror strikes on cities and air support for ground forces, until eventually being tasked with hunting down Dhimarian Mercenery Air Units and protecting Paran territories from air attack. Synopsis for the first few episodes The Series will begin with the Paran air offensive on port cities of Dhimar. At this time, Paran forces strike the borders as tanks pour into Dhimar. The Dhimarian Government declares a state of emergency and starts asking U.S. for help. Meanwhile, the first groups of mercs arrive at Special Operations Air Base 1 who are suprised that they'll be flying vintage Skyraiders and S-2 Trackers... Production kicks off in two weeks... If you have any suggestions and comments, feel free to share em with me... We should have a trailer out by next week... my email is coldwarrior2008@yahoo.com if you wanna see our lead artist's work, check her page hear @ http://pandapow.sheezyart.com/ Hope you guys will support this effort!!! Thanks Quote
scouserlad13 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 You should give the sqd leaders some kick ass planes, you know like in Ace combat. Quote
Karyovin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Sounds really interesting and I think your lead artist is a good choice. I am intrigued by the idea of game graphics (for the planes like a certain anime I guess) and hand drawn art and I'd see how well it integrates into it. I was just thinking about whether Guardians or Invaders would be a little more realistic choice than the Trackers. Please keep us updated! Quote
kct Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 These is the kind of aircraft-related anime/manga/doujinshi we should see instead of pantless girls flying around. Quote
Karyovin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 These is the kind of aircraft-related anime/manga/doujinshi we should see instead of pantless girls flying around. So true and waiting for the next Macross or similar anime simply does my head in. It's a shame the A88 TV series only lasted 12 episodes and they didn't follow up on it. Quote
WLJet Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Interesting story. Is this a fan-based online production? Quote
WLJet Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 So true and waiting for the next Macross or similar anime simply does my head in. The next Macross? Did you know as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Macross, Studio Nue/Big West aired the 'Macross Frontier' series from April 2008 to September 2008 in Japan? The setting for the story is in 2059 AD, 50 years after the start of the original Macross story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross_Frontier Prior to Macross Frontier was OVA series released in 2002 - 2004 'Macross Zero' which is the prequel for the Macross story set in 2008 AD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross_Zero Quote
Falcon161 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 wow I would read it, hmmmm the only suggestion I would say is throw some other Aircraft into the mix for "Guest characters". It woul be cool if you could base some of the characters on people from here Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Just a note...Turkey and Greece had F-102s, and the delta interceptor now being modded by Veltro would be a different kind of addition. Also, F-5A is a sharp little bird, especially in silver finish. Don't forget Su-7. I'd say the "elite" Parani might fly MiG-19. Maybe add one of the Chinese developments from Insky modders...Q-something. They look pretty cool...maybe crossed dressed with AA missiles. Quote
kct Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) ...And they'll move to Ye-152s? It woul be cool if you could base some of the characters on people from here I could imagine more than a few people here going for the Tomcat (not me). Edited December 30, 2008 by kct Quote
Falcon161 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hmmm I would but yet again I would also go For a Mirage or even A Mig-23 Quote
ShinKazama88 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 ***UPDATE*** Mercs squadron's name is "The Raving Rabbits" THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR FEEDBACK!!! KEEP EM COMING!!! Main Characters: Mercs Vince "Jet" Matthews Age: 23 Background: Father served in the Korean conflict, graduate of USC '69. Not a supporter of the Vietnam conflict, Vince is intrigued by the escalation in Dhimar and in 1971 upon completion of civilian flight training, leaves home to fly as a Dhimarian Merc Pilot. A cool headed operator, Vince rises through the ranks quickly to become one of the best pilots of the mercs... Bernard "Ace" McDonald Age: 23 Vince's friend and wingman, they met up in flight school. Bernard is actually the reason why Vince joins the mercs. "Ace" is hot-tempered, rule breaking, and comedic and has Vince's back. Pilots of the "Raving Rabbits" James "Bear" Solis Age: 22 James comes from a prominent family. His a big, tall man and usually tackles deep strike bombing type missions. He is the pilot that always makes it back. Provides some comical relief and always brags about his girl friend back in the States. MORE INFO COMING!!! Trying to find sketches of the characters... Rambler 1-1 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 well, I didn't see this one coming. Just don't over-complicate things and this should be good. I would give each character his own semi-personalized plane, because they are, after all, mercenaries. I would suggest using colourful tail markings on camo or just plain silver aircraft. Perhaps even have some of the planes with modifications, like an extra pylon or two or removal and replacement of equipment, like an F-100 with an upgraded engine, a vulcan cannon and extra sidewinder pylons. Hey thanks for your concern... In the first few episodes, the guys'll be flying A-1s, S-2s, and B-26s. Because of logistics, newer and better planes will eventually be available to the mercs. As for personalization, the squadron insignia is an edited version of the Playboy bunny... And we shall try to make personalized paint jobs such that it will be easy to see who is who... We are trying to give you a realistic and logistically feasible feeling of what it's like to be limited... Thanks for the feedback Quote
Karyovin Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The next Macross? Maybe some French and British planes on both sides could make life interesting. Quote
ShinKazama88 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 ***UPDATE*** Need an opinion What's better? Mercs wear civilian or flight suits? If civilian, the characters will wear jeans, jacket, shirts, boots or sneakers... Helmets are not necessary... Quote
razgriz31m Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Realistic Suits will look cooler but don't forget to add the soviet style suits(w/c is color orange) and helmets (w/ CCCP markings). because if they will wear civilian, they will look like on an airshow.lol. IMHO Edited December 31, 2008 by razgriz31m Quote
ShinKazama88 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 We decided that in the first few episodes, the mercs would sport civie attire before donning their flight suits... Hope you guys are ok with that!!! Quote
ShinKazama88 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 ***UPDATE*** wanna add YOUR of someone's character into the series? Just post your pilot and we'll try to incorporate it into the series... ROCK ON!!! Quote
razgriz31m Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 wad do you mean, we can present our own created characters? Quote
ShinKazama88 Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) Happy New Year!!! Yeah sure... I wud be glad to incorporate some other ideas... feel free to shoot one my way... Edited January 1, 2009 by ShinKazama88 Quote
firehawkordy Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I think that Dave should be included, I picture him standing around looking bored with a coffee cup in one hand and his other hand poised over the button (BAN). Quote
New Guy Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I got this guy on my unfinished stories: Rei "Dragon" Yamada, age 20, timeline late 1980s-mid 1990s. Currently flies an F-16C-30 since his F-16A-10 was shot down. Aircraft pic: Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Let's see here, have one guy who stays totally neutral emotionally, like he never gets excited or scared, although he has a good sence of humor. Then have his best friend be this really aloof guy who is always forgetting things and getting rejected by girls. And don't forget the "Comedic Relief" guy who is usually oblivious to other people's feelings always talks really loud and says stupid things. Quote
