Stiffy Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Sorry if this is the wrong place, not sure where bug reports are supposed to be posted. Anyone else had this bug? Not sure if it is all medals but DFCs always dissapear when a pilot dies. Happened to a couple of pilots now... never got any other type of medal so dont know if it is all bugged... I'm sure ive seen screenshots of german medals on deceased characters though. Now you see them... Now you don't! Still says medals 3 though
+Polovski Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Mm not seem that, anyone else get that? What OS? If not could be a problem with the install or pilots, if you backed up/restored them or edited them things can go screwy too.
Baldric Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I've noticed that as well, but just assumed that Uncle Als explanation above (not the celeron one) was the case, and I'm running Vista 64 on Intel® Core™ i7-920 (2.66GHz, 8MB cache) Memory 6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 at 1066MHZ (3x2GB DIMM) nVidia GeForce GTX280 1024MB.
+Olham Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Well, I have that, too. My medals sometimes all disappear, but Stiffy, try to check next time again - mine where gone on a captured pilot, but now they are back. Don't know why. I'm running a Core Duo E6650 (don't know if I got the number right).
Stiffy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 actually what is more amazing is that the celeron runs at 1.2! I havent edited the file, and it has happened with all my pilots (they are so far all british) I will start up a german pilot to see if the same occurs. Does anyone have a dead british pilot who has still got his medals? Not sure I understand the medals - bodies thing lol. Medals arent burried with people they are sent back to thier families... makes no odds whether there is a body or not as they certainly wouldnt be wearing medals while flying, they are only worn for ceremonial occasions, at all other times a ribbon strip is worn. Different with germans as they wore the actual medals, british soldiers dont, it would be far to showy for english modesty!
+Dej Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Mm not seem that, anyone else get that? What OS? If not could be a problem with the install or pilots, if you backed up/restored them or edited them things can go screwy too. Had that from the beginning... assumed it was designed that way. Can't vouch for German, American or French pilots, never played 'em long enough to get a medal, but English medals ALWAYS disappear when you're killed. Running Vista Home Premium.
Stiffy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Huzzah looks like Ive found a bug! do i win a prize? :) German pilots all seem to keep their medals here is a post from Ryan H showing his... http://forum.combata...rn-his-passing/ There are many more screenshots of deceased and captured german flyers on the forum.... all with thier medals still there. Also... I dont know if it is possible with the limitations of CFS3 or if there are already any plans to update the medals in game.... is it possible to correct the miss-alocation of DFCs? Shouldnt be getting them with an RFC pilot at all. They were only ever awarded in the RAF in the last months of the war. It also wasnt unkown to recieve foreign medals, british pilots where often awarded the croix de guerre by the french or Belgians. Also noticed that the Iron cross first class is missing? Edited October 20, 2009 by Stiffy
+Olham Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Stiffy, come down, man! There ain't NO price, and the Germans do NOT always keep their medals. Read my post. I lost mine too, several times.
Stiffy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Not even a cake? So it seems the bug effects all pilots! I bet microsoft are to blame in one way or another! I REALLY hope you mean POLL
Rickitycrate Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Uncle if there is a Pole in the air I'ld rather not smell him, nor him me.
Duce Lewis Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 German pilots all seem to keep their medals here is a post from Ryan H showing his... http://forum.combata...rn-his-passing/ I've had the problem since the beginninng of P3 And I've flown Hun the whole time
Duce Lewis Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Simply Curious . . Why does anyone care, the pilot is Dead D..E..A..D . . How long is the period of mourning. You know how he bought it, you were there. You're just lucky Phase III is as good as it is. In Phase II you experienced grief when your pilots exceeded 12 or was it 15 As far as problems go, it's not really a big deal That's why I never bothered to mention it I delete my pilots as soon as they croak now ...callous sod aren't I? I only posted to help define the problem Pol seemed interested and some like to attach their logs pics But as I said, it's not a biggie for me
Baldric Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I'm not concerned, was just indicating the same thing happens to me (and apparently a few others as well). As to the whereabouts of the 'medals' I had just assumed the were sent off to family/loved ones posthumously. However, maybe some players like to keep bits for posteritys sake, so they can reminisce about the good times they had etc etc, show their mates another cool aspect of the sim (I suppose one could take a screenshot to save for every awarded medal)...kinda along the lines of why people keep photo-albums, trinkets from travels, momentos?
Stiffy Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 Its not really about whether it matters... its about taking the time to give feedback to the devs to help them polish their game as it is obvious they are getting close to a profesional product. I think it is the least we can do to help them as I don't expect they can afford to hire playtesters. With constant feedback from players they can make the game perfect alot easier.
+Hasse Wind Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I've also seen this problem, and I've had French, British and German awards. I always thought it was some small glitch on my computer, because the missing medals always return sooner or later. I guess some comrade-in-arms borrows them occasionally to impress the local ladies. I don't mind it, as long as they return them.
+Hasse Wind Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Well I'm using XP on a PC with enough power to play OFF on quite decent settings and I'm definitely seeing those missing medals sometimes. Not a big deal, as long as they keep coming back in the end.
Stiffy Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 Looks like it makes no difference what version of windows it runs on.... for the record my medals have never reapeared.
Gromit Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 (edited) Hell, I'd be happy to get a medal. If they disappear upon death, just look at it as that your poor widow sold them to make ends meet. :) Edited October 22, 2009 by Gromit
+Winder Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Thanks Guys, Found an issue that could explain this and I fixed it. Ta WM
