MigBuster Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) Interesting - The wiki gives it a fair account - where as everything else just says it was pants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulton_Paul_Defiant Has there ever been a 3D one though? Good work on the model though V2k Edited April 6, 2010 by MigBuster Quote
+Gocad Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Nice one! It should be interesting to see how the AI pilots would use the Defiant... Quote
+Veltro2k Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 If Mr Wrench would like to provide me one of his special hangar and loading screens I will release this Bird Quote
+Veltro2k Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 For A cockpit I am using Kesselbrut (Virtual Cockpit) for the Hurricane I want him to get He will receive full credit for his amazing creation. Quote
Wrench Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Ed, you want a WoE-stock style or an artwork style??? for the WoE-stock, I'll need the plane to take a screenshot of (that's the base). Artwork I've probably got something around, if not -- I'll find something! wrench kevin stein Quote
Slartibartfast Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) Hi Wrench if you need any pictures for the defiant artwork style let me know as I have something roaming around my hard drive... And it is looking good... Edited April 6, 2010 by Slartibartfast Quote

+allenjb42 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Had my first flight in this one tonight in my BoB install. It was very realistic and pretty historically accurate. 16 of us took off to intercept an inbound raid but got bounced by the escort (Fiat Cr-42s). The first fighter was shot down by our gunners, ptrobably thought he was bouncing a squadron of Hurricanes! After that it was a wild melee and the final result was that none of the bombers were touched, the enemy lost only that first fighter and we had 4 shot down, including me(!), and another 7 damaged. It would have probably been worse if I hadn't hit esc to report back to you guys. A couple of points: - I edited the data.ini to change the start date from 1942 to 1939, when the plane actually entered service. - I think there might be a LOD problem, because in the external view the Defiants disappear when you zoom out a short distance from them. When you look at the flyby view it's as if they have a Romulan invisibilty cloak that keeps switching on and off. Although it didn't affect the enemy fighters' aim. Having said all that it was a nice plane to fly. Any chance of a night fighter skin? Quote
Wrench Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 allen, did you try this: [LOD001] Filename=Defiant.lod Distance=8000 and comment out the other callouts? I guess you say the lodaing screen, Michael Turner's Daffy NF.1! wrench kevin stein Quote

Hmmmm post some screenies..Saying that I took off in my Germany GE WWII intall with my squadron to intercept a flight of Do-17's. Gave the order to the squadron to engage, Dove under them and my gunner Splash one. Then we got jumped by their ME-109's escort Got two before Flaming to the Earth...Outcome ? Mission failed :fu: Quote
+russouk2004 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 The germans had a fright when at first they encountered the Defiant...mistaking it for a hurri, they soon learnt to look closer when coming in from the six and getting four brownings spitting lead at them...they lost a few a\c before realising their error.. +Gocad Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 As cynical as it may sound, but I don't see anything wrong about the Defiant having a hard time...it was removed from front line service for a reason. Quote
