"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz

What is in the Picture? - The P4 Screenshot Quiz

Just had another stroll through all the lovely new screenshots, and had this idea for a quiz.

I will show excerpts from screenshots, and ask questions about them.

The first person who can answer all points correctly, will take over and make the next excerpt

and ask 3 questions. If the winner cannot make a new picture with his equipment, he will have

to name another candidate for the next one. What do you say?

To make it easier, I have here the link to the Screenshots:

http://overflandersf...view/index.html

Here is the first picture. The questions are:

1. What screenshot number is the excerpt taken from?

2. Which aircraft's cockpit is this?

3. What was the wooden mallet at the bottom used for?

Here we go! ...

Wow, THAT was fast! So fast, that I'm afraid, the others hadn't even noticed this new thread yet.

Congrats, Creaghorn - all three points are correct, Sir - so the next turn is yours now!

This Quiz-thread, Slarti - before anyone knew it was here, Creaghorn had "shot the questions down" so to say.

Or if you asked for the new screenshots: see the link in my first post.

I never really checked on the VII before, the XIII has had a mallet in it since Phase 1.

1. What town is this?

2. what AC is seen in the pic?

3. what indicates you that this pic is taken from a QC flight and not from a real campaign?

I'm sorry, but you'll have to be content with a longer answer..

Well this is all speculative, considering we're guessing about screenshots from the developer's latest improvements and we're not in the knowledge loop about whether they've actually run the clock forward to reflect the level of damage to the buildings. You can fly any aircraft in QC, irregardless of the time the active pilot(s) enlists.

2. right answer.

3. right answer. when the first squadrons were equipped with the snipe, the town was already destroyed. especially the cathedral.

what about 1. question?

It's Albert, not Ypres. Sorry Lewie.

This famous image gives it away Albert Cathedral

Hmmm - I hadn't thought about a rule for this result we have now.

Lewie, you'll present the next screenshot and ask two questions. Dej shall ask the third question to it.

I'm happy for Lewie to pose all the questions. I only sought to advance the game.

With the statue hanging off?

Daft question. Of course it will be. You guys would settle for nothing less. There simply is NO finer simulation of WW1 in the air, period.

Lewie, just in case you don't know how to catch a screenshot from the link:

Press "Print" on your keyboard (top right). Then open "Paint" or something like that,

and press Ctrl. + V to insert the pic. Cut it down to the desired area and save it as JPEG.

I was going to say Amiens, but Our Lady of Amiens Cathedral looks nothing like this...

sj002257.jpg

and the steep pitch of the town house buildings in Creaghorn's image reminded me of Ypres, I was mistaken to think the toppled statue was on the Amiens Cathedral.

So I get to do the next one, it's a bit like Breguet's Aircraft challnges on The Aerodrome eh?

Hmmm..

1. What is the Aircraft in this cockpit image?

2. Was there alternative ways of carrying the ammo drums, and what were they and where were they mounted?

3. The lever just aft of the fuel pressure gauge, what was it's function?

Okay, when no one else wants to try it, I deliver a guess here:

1. DH-2

2. Lewis drums, to be mounted on top of a Lewis machine gun.

They were also carried outside in a rig along the cockpit rim.

3. I guess, that it is a trim handle, to make inflight elevator trimming possible?

I thought I had killed this thread :dntknw: and it had such potential.

anyways..

1. Yes

Okay, we should also have pics with only one or two questions, to make it easier. Here is my next picture:

1) What is the name and type no. of this fighter?

2) Name one major difference to it's predecessor

3) What are those "ear-type" things left and right of the craft's nose?

1. Albatros DII

2.It had it's upper wing set lower to improve the pilots field of view. The fuselage to upper wing cabane struts where changed from a set of inverted "V"s to the "N" struts with this model.

3. Those are the paired fuselage mounted engine radiators, this was changed when mounted in upper wing center with the DIII.

Albatros DII

2) Name one major difference to it's predecessor

the Albatros DI had a worse forward-view. That's why they rearranged the upper wing and the cabane struts. the changed version was then the albatros DII.

3) What are those "ear-type" things left and right of the craft's nose?

radiators, although this "ear" design was soon dropped again.
