Speaking of refitting, I've started on the Aussie Kanimbla class.

The primary differences are the large helicopter hangar, a modified bow (no more ramp), and a gigantic crane.

Awesome WBS! The Kanimbla is actually something I'll be using in a small campaign I'm working on.

Just out of curiosity, are there any plans to do the modern Gator Navy ships?

That's just the sort of thing I like to hear. I'm hoping all these ships I've built allow you guys to create more immersive campaigns and fun missions.

More progress:

I started work on an LPD-17 San Antonio class a while back, and I'll get around to finishing it eventually. I also plan to make an Oosumi class for the JMSDF, and maybe Russia's Ivan Rogov if I can ever find some clear photos and diagrams.

For everyone's viewing pleasure) links to pics of the three ships of the Ivan Rogov class:

navsource.narod.ru is a true treasure trove of Russian warship pictures, let me know if you need help navigating/deciphering it.

Interestingly, but it seems that the designers of the Ivan Rogov never accommodated for the replacement of the ships two gas turbines... meaning that once the engines became worn out, the ships were as good as gone.

Hehe the reason I asked for DPRK vessels was that I wanted to add them to my Korea 85 camp, check it out here http://combatace.com/topic/85880-korea-85-wip-including-new-ground-war/

That's hilarious. I had wondered why they were retired so early.

Thanks again for the resources.

Cool, I'll give it a try. And I'll see about throwing some DPRK equipment together.

The Kanimbla is almost done. Working on the distance/collision/flight deck lods now. Too bad there aren't many Aussie escorts for her right now.

Awesome work WBS! I'm going to end up using the Kanimba in a small Aussie campaign I'm working on. I'm using the Oliver Hazard Perry '82 to stand in for the Adelaide class. It isn't perfect, since the MK41 and .50 cals are all just ini edits. There's an Anzac FFG floating around Combatace somewhere.

LCAC, huh? Well, that would be a challenge to make, but possible. How would it be used within the sim? I don't think there's any way to have them be deployed from amphibious assault ships.

Right now, I'm just finishing up a new gun for some slightly older ships.

WBS I know it's very easy to overdo weathered effect (should see my older approach to MiG23 BN weathered cockpit lol) but on that one it looks very good I think :ok:

Back to hovercrafts...

Well could be set up as a really low flying aircraft. Deploy tanks and trucks out the "cargo door" facing front, set up a "flight deck" cargo well to launch and recieve on the ship.

Buuuut, where will we find eels?

"Two weeks," that's where it is.

I've been kinda lacking motivation for this project, because

 A) I don't even have PTO or KAW installs set up at the moment, so the Essexes aren't even going to get much use on my end when they're done, and

 B) I'm able to complete several modern warships from scratch in the same time it's taking me to finish even a small section of this big carrier.

But I'm making progress bit by bit. Here's one of the fire directors (mostly done with mapping but not yet textured).

I do know of the Israeli Sa'ar series, but due to time constraints, I think I'll have to leave those to someone else.

Recently, I put my projects on hold (yeah, again, sorry) to help angelp get his own shipyard up and running.

Here are some close-ups of the new guns I built for his De Zeven Provincien (30mm Goalkeeper) and Absalon (35mm Millenium).

I gave them their own distinct sound effects, and they're quite fun to watch in action.

Speaking of the De Zeven Provincien, I finished the detailing, weathering, and bump mapping on it, so please get the updated version that angelp has recently uploaded.

I felt like doing more work on some modern warships.

For France, and later Italy.

And a Russian ship that I can't spell without looking it up.
