I personnally think that a part of James Bond (in cinema) died with the departure of Brosnan... reincarnating in a more looking like Cruise era Mission: Impossible. No more funny gadgets and less British humor.

I can agree with you concerning the Fleming novels whose films are close now. But I don't know, it lacks the little touches which had been in others, like those of Connery and Moore. But, I have to admit hate the change, it must be why. Besides the two Dalton opus, and especially "License to Kill", also had tried to establish a Bond with a little more action ?

Yes, the Dalton films were an attempt at more realism and grittiness (although the realism was still over-the-top, but at least nothing crazy like some of the Moore and Connery films like rockets inside volcanoes or space shuttles fighting in orbit) but they failed because apparently the audience in the late 80s didn't want that. The success of the Brosnan films and their return to the Moore format proved that.

The 21st century audiences, though, didn't care as much for that and Casino Royale proved it.

I have thought that the American version of James Bond is Jason Bourne. Not big with the martinis and tuxedos, but fairly capable in getting the job done. In either case, the pointy end of the spear is an unstable and risky life. Looking forward to SkyFall and to the Bourne Legacy as well.

I really liked the Dalton movies, I thought he was a much needed change from the cheesy Moore era......Daniel Craig has had the same impact( even more so) now from the similar cheesy Brosnan era.

And Skyfall looks awesome!!! I can't wait

Looks good, but one thing is bugging me. Where is Mr. Bond's Aston Martin?

He left it in pieces in the opening car scene chase of the second movie

Never Say Never Again was a pale shadow of the Bond films he'd done for Eon in the 60s. Klaus Brandauer was not nearly as good a Largo as Adolfo Celi, and Claudine Auger does it for me over Kim Basinger in ANY decade.

Don't even think to compare Barbara Carrera to Luciana Paluzzi!!! Fiona beats Fatima Blush always.

That said, I've missed Q and Moneypenny in the Craig Bonds. Maybe MP needed to wait until the whole Vesper thing ended, but Q could've been in Casino Royale instead of some non-speaking extra putting the tracker in his arm.
