1170 km/h (727 mph?) was the highest speed i saw

 

...which would be supersonic at that altitude.

 

There's some doubt about the measurement-technique.

We'll see, what the official numbers are.

Watched whole mission with family, dad got nervous near the end when he ascended well beyond planned altitude and it looked like baloon is gonna poop in no time, great and thrilling to watch.

Something that annoyed me was that the local media where I live thought that this was the first time ever that this had been done and did not even acknowledge Joseph Kittinger's earlier jumps.

I'm sorry, were you expecting the media to actually practice journalism in 2012, doing research and being informed on what they're reporting on?
