you know you can move the skin listing around in the main ini, right??? If you have a preference, cut/pate, in this instance the VF84 skin to the Number 001 position, and renumber them all.

Old trick that goes back to 2003 and original release of SFP1.

 

personally, I don't think there's any thing wrong with the TMF Corsair; it could just be the automatic cowl flaps

 

Oh, yes. I've been doing that for years, and I'll be updating my TMF F4U-1D shortly, now that I know it's there. Then again, now that I have a Bunker Hill one, I'll see if they've got an Essex skin.

you sure the LSO alignment stripe is pointed down?? or even there??? a lot of them, later in war, didn't even have them, as the Modex went right there too

I did do a bit of checking and I did find a couple of pix where there is no strip but the vast majority do show the strip.  In the end I used this site for paint and decal placement for med to late 43.

I´ve tried the DDAY stripes too, but there´s a huge decal bleeding. Maybe they must be painted on for better results. BTW, your skins are great!!!!
