EricJ Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Because you just can't not skin DCS. Needless to say it's the A Hog (crawl then walk...) and given that it's "simple" I decided to get back into the flow, slowly into skinning again. 2 Quote
MigBuster Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Very nice - although prepare for added Bullet holes and black charring on a mission in the A. Life's a breeze in the C on the other hand - far more civilised - can have a nice cup of tea. Quote
streakeagle Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Real men fly the A-10A :) Tape a map to your knee, stay below a hard deck of 500 feet on the way to the target, and arm the gun! 2 Quote
EricJ Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Lol on both... when I finally got A-10C I watched the tutorial and well... let's say I can cold start a Super Hornet better than that beast.... but again crawl-walk... then run More touchups though I need to find a better mouth to slap on the nose... 1 Quote
streakeagle Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I used to cold start the A-10C, but I haven't flown it in so long for a few reasons: 1) I have to change my stick setup to fly it since I don't normally use the Warthog stick, only the throttle. Using the Warthog stick is an absolute must to have all the functions of the real A-10C at your fingertips. My F-4 Phantom B-8 stick doesn't have nearly enough buttons or thumb hats. 2) There are a lot more aircraft available now that I would much rather fly and fight. From the arrival of the UH-1 and F-15C flight model, my flight time in the A-10C fell to zero. Add the Mi-8, Fw190, F-86, and MiG-21... never have to fly a modern plane again and won't get bored. +Dave Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I can cold start the A-10C from memory no problem. But now I just want to fly. Quote
EricJ Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Yeah I give props to those who take the time, but sometimes you just want to hop in the cockpit and go fly. Which brings me to the A model, which isn't a good mountain climber. I'm sure the C has more push but I've already smacked into the sides of some mountains so yeah... have to do a better approach... 1 Quote
JediMaster Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 No, the C is the same. Just carries different stuff with a different cockpit. That said, I get frustrated with everything in the C revolving around the TGP flying around at 10k+ ft. Sometimes I just want to drop iron with CCIP, shoot guns and rockets, and fire Mavs using their built-in camera from 200 ft! Quote
EricJ Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 (edited) Lol I feel you... but yeah I'm getting the hang of the A model (200ft is pretty damn low... for TGP or even the basic "camera' with the Maverick head) but yeah I like the simplicity of the A when I'm getting my feet wet with the sim. Still I'll probably eventually (maybe) graduate to the C but for now just keeping it simple is good for me. Edited October 24, 2014 by EricJ Quote
Nyghtfall Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 That's a quite interesting camouflage. Looks nice! Quote
EricJ Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Thanks! It took some fixing from an Arma 3 version (now that I got my head fixed on that issue...) but it's getting there... slowly 1 Quote
EricJ Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 Finishing touches and she'll be done: 1 Quote
EricJ Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 More progress... The Hornet was just a test to see how my SF2 colors are rendered so I guess it looks good... Quote
EricJ Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 Still trucking on this, rearranging the splotches and keeping them together as possible... Quote
EricJ Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Right wing done, now for the mid-fuselage and the Nose area. And in reflection this to date (after a decade of skin work) this is the longest taking skin ever (using a corporate PSD, the Super Hornet template for Strike Fighters 2 was all new so I had to put more work in, and I was in Afghanistan during that time as well so I had other things to worry about). Second longest was redoing the Mig-29 template for a custom skin back then (03-04 timeframe) and the damn thing still needs to be worked on... Quote
