F-22 Startup (weird)

So I saw a couple of videos of F-22s starting up. They sound weird but they're quick with it.

You referring to the engine or the APU? That APU is definitely higher-pitched than most, the engines themselves don't sound that different to me.

I guess it's the APU.

But that whoosh part of it all. It reminds of seeing those prop planes start up (just a little). Contact! *Boom*

The engines work on the same basic design. Air + Ignition + Fuel = RUN or to quote you Air + Contact + Boom = RUN.

The AF sometimes collects exhaust samples from jet engines and they do this by getting a newly enlisted to stand behind a running/starting engine with a 55 gallon trash bag to collect an exhaust sample. Only the brilliant can accomplish this task and move up the ranks. All rumors of course.
