Begging for files

Recommended Posts

To be honest, i hate it.

Regularly guys send me a PM and begging for files of planes, or mods or terrains or whatever.

They don't want to subscribe on this side, but want to get access to the files.

Does this guys only begging on me, or on others too?

i get a lot of request mostly for new mods or things i posted but did not upload yet , i dont mind to get request and im hyppy if i can help someone out but ofcourse there are limits if someone is asking for files , not made by me , i decline his or her request

it is one thing asking for something new or try to get files for free , there are request from peoble i know very well and i trust and when they loos a particular file i´m helping out no question asked , i´m always helping out if i can and to be honest i dont have the feeling of getting abused or taken advange of

there are only few request i ever declined , but i did especially for files not made by me and i will do so in the future , getting files for free this way is not acceptable

actually people who try to abuse the system this way should be called out and get sanctions

havent had that yet. not sure about a public shaming, just a nice screenshot of the request to Eric should do.....

but i seem to be a prime defender on FB of the new system.  folks that were perfectly happy with us before the change now talk like their personal wallet got stolen or like the sites been dead for years........

Call them out, hang them out to dry and make it public. After that, our dear administrators can take appropriate action.
Nobody contacted me, but I can understand that it is a nuissance.

I've had a few; even got one today. I tell them politely "NO". And I tell them where to find the "buy a subscription' button. Also remind them that behind the scenes file sharing is a forbidden act, punishable by IP banning. And don't think I won't do it...cause I damn sure will.

This is something I KNEW would happen. All that can be done is for us Admins to get them names, warn them ONE TIME only, and them warn the General Membership (tm) about them and the consequenses of actions.

Like DA said, there's a lot of whiny little turds on FB, that never contributed in any way, shape or form that act like spoiled brats that we've taken their free candy away.

What will these fuckers do, if CA's doors close forever, and all those hundreds of gigs of mod are lost???

As many people see on the forum, I sometimes upload screenshots, and I've uploaded screenshots of things I've made, and people contact me to request the skins I make.

From my site, I only upload my skins, and they have to download the models from here, or adapt them to the original Thirdwire planes with whatever they know.

In my case and current situation, I can't afford the subscription because my financial situation, both mine and my family's, isn't good, and I can't afford the things I want in general, not just paying for the 2-day or monthly subscription.

When my subscription ended, I asked for only two things because I knew I wouldn't be able to pay for a subscription again for another two months or more. The only things I asked for were the Mirage III and V templates and the CFTgr templates. After that, I only contacted them to receive information or to ask for help with something I already have in my account and I can pass it on to the person who contacted me without them having to download it. However, my limit is that those who contact me ask for my skins and if they need something from the page, it has to be something they really need and that it won't be deleted after two days. In that case, I can afford the subscription to give them the file they want.

In conclusion, I agree with Volk that it might be a good idea to report and ban those who request a lot of things because that's what the two-day subscription is for, and those who take advantage of it can most likely afford to pay for it and aren't doing it to take advantage or think we're Fools.

my original advise to Erik was to place limits on the various subscription levels, but he majorly didnt want to do that

so now my advise to the whiners is to make a list of what they want, pay teh trial subscription and get everything on their list. a couple days should be enough time and outside extreme circumstances the price is about the same as a cheap fast food meal.

I totally agree with that.
