If the zip file won't open that's the problem, not the properties of the installer. I'd start figuring out why the zip isn't opening, if it's just that zip file meaning it's corrupt or your software settings are fubar for windows. What kind of error does the zip file give you when you try to open it? Is this a CD or downloaded installer?
-
Eh ... the installer is telling you that: C:/Archivos de programa/Lead Pursuit/Battlefield Operations/terrdata/Korea/texture/texture.zip "texture.zip" is not a readable file on your system or has permission issues as the installer is attempting to read or unpack it. The zip file might be corrupt or you have removed the ability for a windows based installer to open zip files (compressed files). I've seen this before when file associations have been messed up either by installing other software for compressed files or security software won't allow .zip files to be installed on the computer. You can also check the properties of the installer itself by right clicking it and make sure the check box for "allowed file" or "harmful file" is unchecked. Just some off the cuff weirdisms. Good luck.

Is there a way to highlight an updated file?
Erik replied to a topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I'm not sure I'm following you but ... When a file is added to the system a new topic is posted in the file announcement area for the type of file. When a file is updated in the system I don't believe the file announcement gets an update or is moved back to the top of the announcement stack if that's what you mean. It does show the last time the file is updated on the file itself. The announcment is automated we don't have to do anything for that. For an update what a modder can do is click the link in the file that takes them to discussion and then just post that you've made an update to the file which will then move the thread back to the top of the announcement area. I think that's what you're looking for, but it would have to be done manually. Dave you got any other ideas? I'm going to feel stupid if the announcement thread moves to the top on an update but I don't think so. I also remember when Brandon over at Invision was working on the last BETA there was something about this and I think he opted out of the announcement update for some reason, but I'll have to dig back through the BETA notes on that. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?act=U...amp;CODE=attach Click on the link above. It will take you to your attachment manager. If you have a bunch of old attachments (start with the oldest ones first) you can remove them from the system to clean up space. Let me know if you have any questions. Erik

About Downloading files
Erik replied to Fleet Command CC's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
We don't allow download managers because they require all downloads to be in the public domain. Public files especially large ones lead to file leaching which is a very costly problem inherent to the Internet. Sorry, but hope that helps. -

So let's and make up so we don't have to this thread and I don't have to . Thanks for the help guys. Erik

How is the site working for everyone? From the backend performance looks like it's running at optimal considering the amount of traffic, useage, and sheer volume we're handling. Doesn't sound like much but with an average of almost 380 users online around the clock for the past year I think we've done well for staying online with little to no hiccups. Erik
-
No. The problem is not with users online. The problem is balancing how much memory we give to applications and how much we keep in reserve for other things like downloads and web based applications. It's really not that big of a deal it's just not an easy task sometimes. Sadly the best time to tune your equipment is when it is at it's highest useage, so I'll keep at it as long as you guys don't get frustrated.

We've been seeing some high server loads lately which is good but to compensate for the new loads I have to move some resources over to applications like apache and mysql which provide you guys with everything from page views to downloads. So that being said it's not their we're unstable it's more like we're improving stablility long term with some short term interruptions.

Trouble with the attachment section
Erik replied to Gocad's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I've allowed more attachment space for members. You can yourself manage your attachments in your My Controls section. Erik -
You guys are crazy! OF COURSE CombatACE celebrates every single post made by each of you. We do this each and every day of the year. . . . The download section is still online isn't it? . . . From the 2s to the 2000s and beyond you're all special to us. CONGRATULATIONS!

If you haven't noticed we've been plagued with some upstream issues today from our datacenter. They have assured us they are working on resolving it, but never the less it's been an ongoing issue since 9:00 CST. When it's fixed we'll resume normal operations. Until then you may experience slower than normal page loads, no page loads, lost downloads, lost uploads, etc. We appologize for the inconvenience and wanted you to know that we are aware of the problem. Thanks; Erik

Alright alright ... I give up! For the past year and half I've been trying to figure out how the heck some of you guys come up with your display name. I see guys like Fates, Buff, Ruggbutt, Nhengo and the list goes on and on. You guys are just more creative than me I guess. Tell us what your name means or maybe where it comes from. I'm sure there's some funny stories that go along with them. Erik

I'm not sure how posting this on our site accomplishes anything. It would be far better served on TK's forum. Posted here it has little value other than to inflame a self motivated level of expectation we are unable to change in the game's core. I suggest we round file this until such time TK answers developmental concerns on our site directly. Thank you for understanding.
