  1. Not to dig up old threads, but I see there's a few active members that posted in here and I'd hate to make a whole new thread for something that goes right along with these posts. Does anyone know of notes on airbase creation and setup? I presume you just model it and then the runway and taxi configurations are set up in .ini files correct?
  2. PC version comes out today just like all the other versions...
  3. Well, I checked and they all are 256x256 and 24 bit depth, so that's not it. I'll keep looking but for now the solution escapes me. EDIT: So I manually loaded a river tile, set it up exactly as the ini showed it set up, backed up the texturelist, saved a new own. The only difference I can find in the entry is the addition of RoadType=0. However, adding that line into the missing tiles on the original texturelist doesn't make them show up. Loading the newly saved texturelist shows the river tile in the list. Why? I haven't a clue. It makes no sense. EDIT2: Looks like its just taking the first 34 entries. PROBLEM SOLVED: VietnamSJ75B.bmp was physically missing from my texture list. As it was the last tga alphabetically something must have screwed up during batch processing. Double check your tilesets to make sure everything's there.
  4. Was that all that was wrong? I have all my tga's converted but I'm still missing many textures. All the river tiles, and any transition tiles for land are not showing up. They load if you enter them manually though so I'm not sure what's going on.
  5. There's also a coop mode where one guy is on the ground with a IR designator and the other player is up in the AC-130. Can't freaking wait.
  6. Woops, actually there isn't different coding. I just forgot there's separate mod folders for each version. Plop the Merc modified campaign into the SF2V mod folder and it works like a charm.
  7. It is possible to play the Vietnam campaigns as a mercenary unit, you just have to load it from SF2 instead of SF2V.
  8. Multiplayer in this one looks even better, seriously loved the videos they released of that aspect. Just ordered my new monitor too! Now I seriously can't wait for COD2, and my next paycheck since I just blew the one I got today.
  9. Thanks Wrench. After playing with it a bit I think I'm going to make my own tileset from sat images and my usual photoshoppery handywork. Even though it may be a bit over my head, it'll keep me occupied enough. I assume the best way to do rivers is to hand tile them? Roads too I suppose. After playing autotransition all it seems to do is mess up a majority of the map, like putting coast tiles in horizontal lines through where there used to be land. EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm using the latest version of the editor (042106) and using resources pulled from SF2:V. Dunno why the River List doesn't work, just doesn't save anything when I click make new list. Maybe I should make one manually in notepad and see if it loads it.
  10. Is River List nonfunctional? Doesn't seem to do anything if I try to make a new one. Should I place all my airfields and cities before manually tiling? I mean, does autotiling to update a new entry into say, Cities List, wipe out all my manual work?
  11. Nice, I may have some need for that in the future.
  12. I'll pick up the PC version. Hopefully my video card will be able to take it along with this new monitor I'm going to order today.
  13. Looks like Merc aircraft prices are still based on the aircraft's range. Not sure what sets the prices for ordnance but probably some similar variable. Its a pity TK didn't give us more freedom with this aspect as I think its a side of the game that has a lot of potential. Probably be picking up SF2 Vietnam here soon, I'll take a look at adding in Mercenary campaigns then.
  14. Haha, yeah, its the same on both sides of the fence. One Ops guy gets lost at Chicago O'Hare and now all airport vehicles everywhere need progressive instructions and not encompassing ones (IE, can't say, west side of the airfield is yours). Imagine how fun that'll be once the snow falls, or how that could even possibly work when they have to chase a coyote off the field. Problem is there's no good way of forcing common sense into people. So long as there's people out there who do stupid things that end up becoming a safety risk, we have to make new rules that unfortunately hurt those of us with a working brain.
  15. Well, I've seen those a lot of times before, so I can't really vouch for their authenticity. But I can give you a couple right from the source. We had a dead bird on the runway, the previous departure reported it. Northwest 1590 was coming up next so we let them know about it and that we'd have an Ops vehicle on the way out to take care of it. Northwest came back, "Thanks for the offer but we've already had lunch." Yesterday I had a Southwest ready for push. He calls me, and in a thick Texan drawl says, "Ground, Southwest 284 here and I reckon we're ready to push." Unable to resist I replied, "Southwest 284, ground, I reckon you can push back whenever you want." Right after that the Skywest who'd already been pushing back calls up, "Ground, Skywest 812, I reckon we're ready to taxi."
  16. Finally got SF2 and I'm back in the mercenary saddle again.
