  1. training at Spokane Tower, settling in to his new life as an Northwesterner.

  2. I'm glad you guys are eagerly awaiting this, but its gonna still be a bit longer. I know I've been saying "real life commitments" for like 2 or 3 months now, but I really am going through some hectic times. Still getting settled in here in Spokane, just finished my first week at work as an air traffic controller (and I absolutely love it, even though I've just barely started training). In a few weeks or a month I should be able to afford more time to put toward leisure time and be under a lot less financial stress to the point where I'll get around to looking at my projects again.
  3. As Eric said, its not my intent, and I still believe its pointless in this sim. I've yet to see a sim platform capable of simulating the unique characteristics of Macross fighters properly. I doubt I have the skill to properly make a fully articulated transforming robot. Now, off to work!
  4. I concentrate on making sure my projects remain unfinished. I like modeling and texturing. Decals in this game make things interesting too. I've played with campaigns, and the simpler .ini files. The things I avoid the most are flight data and cockpits, bleck.
  5. There's this download if anyone wants to have a go at Ace Combat mods: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6453
  6. Ugh, 757, bane of my existence. Begone you large/heavy wake turbulence line jumper.
  7. Don't suppose you have a link to that calculator? I think I'm going to have to get a new PSU when I get a new video card.
  8. Thanks. Sorry I couldn't get it out before I left for training. Things went faster than I expected. Now that I'm here I really have zero free time. When I'm not at the Academy I'm studying or at the gym, and working nights right off the bat doesn't help things. I'm a certified weather observer now though, and did decently on ground control today during our first table top session, but none of that has anything to do with the YF-19...
  9. God this. Yeah it'll have ventrals. I even got a lecture on ventrals from my aero engineer friend. Whether I wanted it or not... This is buried though, along with everything else. I'm moving to Oklahoma Sunday for 6 weeks of training then I'm moving to Washington state.
  10. This is a movie I shot when I was 17 (can't believe it was so long ago...). Back when things were a lot better in the economy my family and the family company would help with sponsorship of the Goshen Freedom Fest Airshow. This generally earned us a pre-show sponsor ride. This was the only occasion I had a video camera along, and I'm afraid this was long before my interest in photography and such took off so its not that well shot. But I remembered the tape existed and since I'll be moving away from home in a week or so I decided to get it on the computer. This is a rather chopped up version of the original since Youtube only allows 10 minutes of footage. Enjoy. (click on video to open up youtube for bigger HQ version) And here's few pics from rides I brought a camera on. Dad flying right seat in the A-37, I'm back seat in a T-28. Back seat (if you can call it that...) in a P-51 Back seat with the Aeroshell team. Yes I was a spoiled brat, and I'm damn thankful for it.
  11. Hmm. A thought. Could you make a bomb behave like a torpedo? Like, give it a really fast speed but super short range, to match up with what a skipped bomb would do. The only problem is that would only be useful for skip bombing and you couldn't hope for direct hits though.
  12. Where might these be? Although I guess it doesn't really matter to me till we have skip bombing :whistling: With the new New Guinea map and B-25 strafers coming along in Il2, I'm afraid I don't have much use for the TW engine in terms of WWII. Still, always find something I miss from each sim engine.
  13. Backburner. I go through modeling swings. The exterior model and animations are done for the most part. Most weapon hardpoints are modeled but not textured. Cockpit is...um...going no where fast. In aboot 20 days I'm going to Oklahoma for 6 weeks for training, then I'm moving to Spokane and starting work at KGEG. I'll go through things and see if I can release a beta before I leave, no promises though. I'm gonna leave Basara's texture to someone else...I hate that guy. There'll be a paintkit, hopefully... My PSD files are a royal mess as always. Things that work in my brain definitely don't work for 99% of the population. Glad you guys are looking forward to this. Sorry I can't deliver as much as I want to. Exterior models I can do. Textures I can do. Everything after that...ehhhhhh....
  14. Can't wait, I know a lot about photoshop through art and photography, I've never been one to touch up screenshots much. Just applying your layer actions though seem to make a big difference in quality. Looking forward to more tips.
  15. ....hey...I can read gooder than a 6th grader... Some of my classmates senior year though...eh...not so much. Damn business majors. SF2 Europe looks good, I don't suppose TK is willing to put together a 3 pack or something to help folks save a few bucks when buying everything. But I guess since its all electronic distribution that wouldn't make a big enough cost saving difference on his side.
  16. Well, I own a PC and an XBox 360 Elite (never red-ringed) and I plan on getting a PS3 eventually, especially now with the leaked info on the PS3 slim that's in development. So you guys can argue all you want, I'll be having fun and enjoying the systems and games. I have a hacked PSP too, love that. Oh, and a PS2, which definitely is my favorite console, and a Super Nintendo. Even have an N64 sitting around here somewhere. But just because I like be controversial, I'll comment on some stuff from this thread. "-Internet browser" I have a computer, thanks. "-Easy to charge controlers, just hook it up via USB" Same on the 360, although since the system update my controller refuses to charge for some reason, just goes straight to the green charged light... "-Able to store pictures, films and music" I just stream from my PC, I wouldn't want to have to transfer all that stuff anyway. "Xbox 360 RED RING OF DEATH" Like I said, never had it. "Wii beats both of them." Tried the Wii. Its gimicky and got old fast. The motion sensing wasn't as impressive as the impression I'd been given. The system's graphics were atrocious, zero anti aliasing, which was a problem I'd expect from the PS2, not a new system. "PC...highest quality games." While I do prefer PC over everything, its a pretty expensive platform if you're just gaming. Thankfully I do quite a bit on my PC outside of gaming. Still, not looking forward to that video card upgrade I need. Also, I can't agree with it being the end all to highest quality games. Maybe if you only play stuff like flight simulators, but many RPG's and other genres tend to stick to consoles, and those have their fair share of outstanding games. Like I said, I plan on getting a PS3, once they get cheap anyway. I'll admit though, the only reason I'm going to get one is because of the exclusive content I can't get on the 360. Primarily Valkyria Chronicles comes to mind. I'd prefer to only have to buy one console per generation...but that's not the way the market works.
  17. Almost hard to believe its a TW sim. I should really get around to doing a WWII install... Never even occurred to me how much fun a WWII mercenary campaign could be...
  18. I'm glad you're so willing to take a civilian life that hasn't actually endangered anyone aside from himself. This isn't a 747, its a little Cessna, take it easy Maverick.
  19. Well, Congress and the Lobbyists will still have their say. I'd hope that the F-22 line will remain dorment at least. With only 187 birds I can't imagine they've left themselves much leeway for airframe replacements. Accidents can and will happen after all. They keep discussing the cost of the F-22 without considering that the development phase provided a lot of new information and technology for future projects. This is why I think its unfair to include development costs in the airframe costs. At least give companies credit for investing in the future.
  20. Raptors limited to 187 (and for reference, as of 2007 the USAF had 550 F-15C's in active service and another 145 in ANG service, how do they expect 187 F-22A's to replace that I have no idea). F-35 production accelerated, no change in order. (Production acceleration brings it back to 2006 level.) Alaska Missile Shield canceled. (right after North Korea's rocket launch?) 2nd ABL canceled. DDG-1000 canceled after two ships. Presidential helicopter replacement canceled, even though they say they need a new one. KC-X competition restarts in the summer, but some of what Gates said leaves me concerned. Basically saying, we'll making the rules, and if they complain to the GAO who cares. Doesn't really seem right. There was more stuff but that was the stuff I remembered. Lots of people are going to lose jobs thanks to this, that's for sure.
  21. Just curious, why Spits for the Germans? Seems to me with the US production output at the end of the war and their surplus it would make more sense for the Luftwaffe to be flying P-51s and the like.
  22. I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, since I love Ace Combat, and even Aero Elite: Combat Academy is quite fun. Then I played the HAWX demo and it became painfully clear that the game's design team didn't consist of one pilot, and it seems not even one person that had done ANY research into aviation. It feels like a game made by 13 year old boys.
