Hi Ruger This really belongs in the Virtual Squadron Chat but since most Lomac freaks will most likely check this forum more i'll leave it here for now... be adviced that i'll move it to the relevant forum within the next 48 hours Cheers, GhostDog

Hi For us lucky trackIr and trackIr2 owners, i'm sure that the fixed functionality of trackIr was the one thing we looked most forward to in the patch. The good news is that it actually works - and in true enhanced mode at that The bad news is that its not yet perfect. According to Jim Richardson from Naturalpoints the scaling was somehow messed up which makes the trackIr much faster than it was supposed to be: CLick here to go to the relevant thread on Naturalpoints forum. Most ppl have been able to get around this problem by turning the speed way down but some others still have issues. I have been in contact with some that had big troubles using trackIr #1 and the 2.12 beta drivers, but after unistalling those and installing the 3.03 drivers performance seem to be much better. Note: All drivers from v3.01 ver2 and up should be trackIr1 compatible. Hopefully they will fix the scaling in the next patch as well as sort out the conflict with using rotators for zoom

I don't think so but i can't say for certain.

My squad and I have been using TS for communications but i'm not particularly happy with it. Often the "transmissions" are so garbled as to be next to useless and even though this can from time to time add another dimension to communications i would rather do without this "feature". I would like to hear if anyone knows of a way to improve performance, ie by using other codecs etc.. or if not, i would very much like to hear of your experiences with Ventrillo or other comms software... Thanks in advance, GD

OK I just chekked the UBI campaign board and found a pretty recent update from Ross: Original thread I will try to follow his progress and post on it when there is any developments
-
Hey Jay Jay The dynamic campaign originaly planned for Lockon was dropped quite some time before release and the campaign that ships with the game is a scripted campaign. Last i heard, Ross MacGregor was still working on his Ares/Storm dynamic campaign engine so there is hope that it will eventually become a reality. He is working on it in some sort of understanding with Ubi/Eagle Dynamics allthough i'm not sure of the nature or extend of the collabaration. ASIK it will, when its done, be a pay-for addon to pay for his time and Ross has hinted that it won't be expensive.

If i can get to drive a tank i'm on - even though i still perfer the old WWii tanks... Just give me a heads-up so i'll have time to patch to the latest version of whatever you guys decide on
-
TRy experimenting with using different codecs as Cudaguy suggests - maybe that will solve your problems
-
I followed a thread on the official Ubi boards with some interest. The thread was started by 169th_Ice who has been experimenting with different combinations of connection speeds. Here is what he wrote: Link to the original thread Some of the responses in the thread seems to confirm his finding but i don't think we will hear much on it since everything on the official boards are drowning in patch related topics. I will try to to experiment with this but i would be gratefull if some of you guys could check it out as well and post here on your findings. If this proves to be a good tip on improving MP sessions its i'll put it in the sticky on the top of the page. Hope to hear from you...

Both files shold go into the "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\ME" folder. ... if you installed in the same dir as i. I havent checked to see wether it works with the patch though

I agree that a Tornado would be fun. *Oh those memories from the once state-of-the-art sim* I don't think i have ever heard that its an engine problem that keeps them from doing 2 seaters. As i understand it its more of a concern for realism allthough its very hard to get them (the devs) to say anything definate on these subjects

Thanks Zagnut' .. and yes its certainly nice with the trackIr fix. Now i have a quite a lot of fun figuring all the new bugs out :D but all in all the patch seems make good on most of the promises

Hi Wesair I'm still trying to figure it out myself. I have been able to code some short avi's with succes. When i try to record long missions (+5 min. <_< ) the avi looks very wierd for the first several minuttes and only gets good at the end. I will probably try to experiment some more with this over the next couple of days but so far the jury is still out on this one

sorry .. but what is teamspeak block? I DL'd the files but couldn't really find out what it was that it was supposed to do

I like the soft outline of number 5 and i can't help liking number 2 even though its harder to see what symbol it is

Ehhmmm.. I have both Nero and Deamon tools installed as i use them for work purposes and i managed to get the patch and game to work - albeit after much frustration. It seems that the most common reason that you get the "insert correct cd" bug is when you accidentaly installed the wrong patch. Ie. UK patch on english game or vice versa. This problem was confounded by Thunak accidentally switching the links for the patches which caused a lot of people to DL and install the wrong patch. Quoting Thunak: After reinstalling and grabbing the correct patch i got it to work and my bloodpressure is now falling again and approaching 4 digit numbers ;)
-
thanks ... both links are up on the front page
-
np... Thunak says its official though it wasn't released through proper channels. I was in doubt of wether to post this as a news item but since it is as Thunak says "out of the bag" there is really no reason not to. I have posted it as a news item along with Thunaks warning and we will update it with a fix for the "cd-detect" bug as soon as we get it ourselves

After i got my trakIr2 I had some problems that where something alike what you are describing. I'll start from the back with your second question: The black box in the trackIr2 software shows what the camera is seeing. If the dot is near one of the edges when its centered the trackIr might have difficulties following the dot when you move you head out of its cone of vision. Try adjusting where the trackIr unit is pointed so your dot is near to the center. That might also account for your hitting "the wall" please get back to me on wether this helps or not. Otherwise try asking to taking a look at the Naturalpoints forums

Hey Christophe and welcome to Biohaz You should know that Lomac is probably one of the most demanding games around. All sims have a tendency to be harder on the CPU than most other types of games and Lomac is no exception. Besides from that it needs fully DirectX 8.1 compatible AND compliant graphics card to run. I am afraid that a geforce 2 isn't. The smallest fully compatible cards are AFAIK the 4-digit gforce cards: ie GForce4 TI4200. Some ppl have had some succes with using below spec cards, such as gforce3 MX cards, if they turn things such as effects off but its not advisable as the developers clearly states that they will not support them and you probably wont be able to see things such as missile trails even if you get it to work. Very few ppl can run the game in full detail even with the best hardware currently available so try to put together a system a good bit above the recommended minimum. If you only have limited funds i would recommend upgrading you graphics card first. The gforce TI4800se is a good card that can be bought on sale in many places since it has been replaced by the GforceFX series, but its still a good card. Other candidates might be cards such as the Radeon 9600. If you want to know more there is usually allso a lively discussion on upgrades and vid cards on the Ubi boards: UBI boards Lomac general discussion

I have, like most others, fooled around with Loman, edited cfg files and generally been making quite a mess of things. When the patch hits the streets (if thats what patches do) i will want to do a clean install to make sure that i don't carry over unneccesary junk or "tweaks" that hampers more than they help. My purpose with this post is to make a quick check list on which files to back up before such an operation and i thought some of you might be able to chip in with some helpful tips. So here it goes: 1: backup "INPUT" folder. This folder contains your profiles for joystick, rudders and keyboards. it would be quite annoying to go through tthe routine of setting everything up all over 2: backup any missions that you have created or edited yourself 3: backup your "pilotlogbook" folder 4: backup your "ScreenShots" folder thats what i have so far...Any other missions, mods or skins you from others could be backed up if you dont allready have a copy in a seperate location. Otherwise they should probably still be available for download here or where you got them in the first place. I would copy back the backed up files after a clean install but BEFORE any patching is done as the patch might need acces to certain files. If anyone has any comments, hints or tips on this please post a reply
