  3. SaE hit it right on the head a la Starship Troopers style. Don't make it mandatory, unless you want the right to vote. Think about it...in a free society, the right to vote is one of the strongest rights you have...you can literally change the direction of the country by voting. So why should such power be given away just because you live here. How about with that power comes learning some responsibility. And it doesn't have to be military service. But it must be some service where A) It isn't easy and B) You are at the whim of the government for a few years. Also, the right to vote should not occur until after successful completion of your term of service. In other words, you can't vote unless you're a civilian. FC
  4. As far as I know, the sim doesn't model variable intakes or engine failure due to disrupted airflow. You can simulate intake ramps of course (the F-15 series is a prime example). FC
  5. Well, I can tell you, for my midrange computer...polys for aircraft really isn't the issue as much as textures. Polys help of course. Anyway, I think you'll tend to find high end is 40k polys, 20k is comfortable. At least, that's what I've seen. FC

  9. Interesting. There have been these sorts of collisions before where a 'high wing' and 'low wing' aircraft don't see each other because each is in the other's blind spot. FC

  11. The funny thing is, TK sims are tailor made for this conflict...little to no avionics, but lots of jets. Also, there just isn't too much competition in this area (Mig Alley was the last sim dedicated to this era of flight), but is considered a watershed in the history of air combat. Here's hoping! FC

    I grew up with tofu and have seen it in all consistencies...even used in a pie (good pie...seriously!). Anyway, I typically like it cooked with a bit of crust and pretty spongy texture...the only time I like the less firm type is in soup. FC

  14. Your first question I've sometimes seen happen if a cockpit entry is tweaked the wrong way. I don't remember the details exactly, but I think it has to do with the CanopyNodeName parameter...something like that. FC
  15. Screenshots would be useful. Also, type of aircraft, consistency across aircraft, etc. would be useful info to have. FC
  16. Could be a one time glitch...see if you can duplicate the problem. Also, screenshots will help. FC

The files in terrain directories that define things things like trees, city buildings, etc. The important thing for you to know is that unless the object is on an airfield, is a target, or is something that can actively shoot at you, you probably can't collide with it. Also, your blocky trees are probably caused by the Green Hell 2 mod overstressing your video card. FC
  18. I can answer both your questions: 1) Nope, standard F-15C with CFTs that they could carry (and did). 2) Probably, I'm still working on details with the data.ini to make it work and look right. Right now, it can do both (internal or external), but there are issues if you start trying to pick and choose your own weapons. FC
  19. My thing is 3d models. Certain things I'm almost obsessive compulsive on (visible holes in meshes or misaligned doors, etc...big pet peeve). Other things I could give it very basic but plasible form and be happy (landing gear). I tend to like doing features or (and some aircraft) no one else has done or tried, or even thought possible. Secondary tends to extend to data.ini files. Not so much in the actual FM area...but most other stuff I've got a pretty good handle on and tend to extend my obessive/compulsive streak. Only now are the avionics entries starting to get away from me as they've become more complex. FC

  22. There was one in work some time ago. And rotating bomb bays are easy if you have the animation slots available. FC
  23. That's not inconsequential (the frame rate boost). So, just to be clear, it's textures and effects (and their callouts within a LOD or an ini) that are case sensitive, but other files are not. FC
